  • Well, I haven't frequented many local places, unless you can count Tony's, which is rather widespread throughout Michigan... I still consider it local though!
  • I'd invite them to the "Ölmühle" in Wittenberge. The owners bought an old oil mill and remodeled it in a restaurant with view over the river Elbe. I can recommend their pasta dishes, their home brews and their beer bread.

  • Nick's in Rockaway, Pacifica, Ca. Its right on the ocean. On a windy day at high tide the waves crash on the rocks below the parking lot. Nick has great sea food. I also take friends to Spanish Town in Half Moon Bay. Its a family owner restaurant that features Mexican food that is tasty, filling and reasonably priced. The people are friendly and efficient.
  • Right here: http://salandjoes.com/ Sal & Joe's is where we get our pizza from. Mom was in there once and saw our governor eating there, so that's kind of an interesting tidbit as South Jersey is nowhere near the state house. Their pasta dishes are damned good but their pizza is classic and I can't describe it any better than saying that if (for some inexplicable reason) I had to stick with one pizza joint for the rest of my life, I'd need it to be Sal & Joe's.
  • I'm answering as though I was still in the Los Angeles area. I have two... Bahooka in Rosemead... for environment and kitch and if you like ribs and big drinks with fire on them LOL. It's good for singles and kids, because the menu is pretty basic and the environment is "family style" and the joint is HUGE. The biggest draw is the fact that they have dozens of in use aquariums, so there are fish everywhere, as well as tiki styling throughout. The place was featured in the first five minutes of "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". Paradise Cove Cafe in Malibu for it's clam chowder, drinks and again, atmosphere, there's nothing like sitting on the beach to eat or drink. You can dine in for the full menu or enjoy an abbreviated one from their "to go" window out back... that is... on the water side. The seafood in general is pretty good, as are the beverages.
  • Psh! My guests will eat at my house for I am an amazing chef! But if you really want a restaurant... Here are a couple because I can't pick just one... ASTI - Italian Cuisine (Shameless promotion for my mom's friend who's the owner!) Ho Ho Chinese BBQ - Traditional Chinese BBQ and Cuisine (Their roast pork is the best!) Café Crêpe - French Cuisine (Make your own crêpe!) Kerbey Lane Café - American Diner (Their pancakes are to die for!) And two extras that are just out of town, but worth the drive there: Blue Bonnet Café - American Diner (Three words. Peanut butter pie!) Cooper's BBQ: Llano - Texas BBQ (It's Texas! You have to have BBQ!) As of currently, I have not found any better place for Mexican food than at a Mexican's house.
  • i heartily recommend the guacamole and chips or patacones con frijoles molidos (i don't know if there is an english translation for patacones- it's a plantain pancakey thing) to start and then a vegetarian casado at restaurante Alice. plus a white russian. or, if you eat fish, i heard their fish taco is the best. take it however you like... homemade organic brownie for dessert with fresh whipped cream.
