Which movie always makes you cry?

  • A walk to remember
  • Gone With The Wind always makes me cry. I just really want to kick Scarlett O'Hara but I love her. I understand her perspective and she makes me crazy. I always cry when Rhett has taken Bonnie into his rooms after her death and the only person who can get him to open the door is Melanie. The look on his face just kills me.
  • What movies always make me cry? Stepmom, Fly Away Home, Beaches, and Pearl Harbor make me cry. I know it's not a movie but I felt it deserved a mention because it never fails to make the tears pour, the novel Shogun by James Clavell. It only now surprises me how often I've watched/read these even though they make me cry.
  • The last 15 minutes of A.I.
  • Too many to categorise me as anything other than an out-and-out sook, but some of the biggest tear-jerkers for me (as judged by the number of times I actually cry during the movie or the sheer intensity of the crying episode(s) are:

Braveheart -at least seven significant cry moments
Last of the Mohicans -esp. the cliff scene with Uncas and Alice, and Chingakchook, for me the most gut-wrenching, sobbingly sad scene in all of moviedom
The Last Samurai -esp. for the fate of Katsumoto and his son
Life is Beautiful - makes me cry both with joy and sadness
Amadeus - a cruel and unfitting fate for such a genius
Gallipoli - the sheer brutality of war and the waste of young lives
    The Notebook
    Okuribito (Departures)
    The Joy Luck Club
    A Walk to Remember
    Schindler's List
    Missisippi Burning

Plus the first 10 minutes of Up deserve a special mention.

And if you want to see a real tearjerker of a TV mini-series, the Australian-made *Dirtwater Dynasty* features the  most hours of unrelenting tragedy I've witnessed on the small screen.

Many movies have almost driven me to tears, but usually can hold them back.  I usually see a movie only once so it's hard to say if a movie always makes me cry.  Stepmom made me teary in the theater, and for a few years, it would air on TV during the holidays.  Everytime I watched it, tears would start to fall again.  After crying from My Dog, Skip, I didn't want to see it again.  Same with The Christmas Shoes: I was reaching for tissues most of the second half of the movie, so I figured that I shouldn't watch it again..

  • Pride and Prejudice, Titanic, Little Manhattan, Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Moulin Rouge, The Boy In Striped Pajamas, Atonement, Keith, December Boys, Uptown Girls, HP, Milk, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Chocolat, Gasper The Frinedly Ghost, Marry Poppins, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Secret Garden, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle and *finally, sighs* Bridge to Terabithia, and others, but these were the firsts I remebered. There's one with Gwyneth that I can't really remenber the name right now...
  • The last song.
