THE RULES ++ TO JOIN ++ FAQ ++ WHO'S WHO

This is a place for those that need to relax at the end of the Universe. We welcome anyone that'd feasibly be here- gods and goddesses, angels, demons, anthropomorphic personifications, mortals and immortals... anyone can join.

Only one of each character is welcome here, though multiple personifications of one concept are welcome- Pratchett's death and Gaiman's death can co-exist for example. Kevin Smith's Loki is welcome to argue with Mask II's Low Key. People are also welcome to play well-known, public domain characters without reference to one particular set of texts/whatever (eg: Lucifer, the arch-angel Gabriel, Santa Claus, etc etc...), except, and this is important, any variation, fandom or no, on the major world deities, such as Allah or the Judeo-Christian God. Characters such as Buddha and Siddhartha, we will allow, on the grounds that, whilst they are widely worshiped, and are major religious figures, they are not deities. Historical characters are allowed, as long as they are fictional representations thereof (eg: William Shakespeare as portrayed in 'Shakespeare In Love', Rasputin as portrayed in 'Rasputin', Gandhi from 'Gandhi', etc...).

Note: We do not accept original characters, or fanfiction characters, nor alternate-universe (AU) versions of a character, unless said AU versions are featured in the canon. The character you wish to play as must have an established canonical background, no matter how small - one mention in a book, one cameo in a tv series - in the non-fanwork source of your choice.

And, even though we're a fun-loving lot, we do have need of a few rules. So, without further ado...

1.	Any post containing adult material, i.e. sex, violence, etc., needs to be behind a cut-tag (if it’s in the main post) or clearly labeled as such (if it’s within the comments of the thread). As a corollary to this, if the moderators discover that any underage players are writing threads with adult content, those players will be immediately ejected from the community. See this post for further clarification.
2.	Any plotlines, silliness, whatever-you-want-to-post is generally acceptable, but you MUST clear any physical changes to the bar or its surrounding area with a mod.
3.	Canon-puncturing is not allowed. (For a definition of canon-puncturing, read this Mod Post.) Essentially, it means that you need to NOT gad about the bar telling other characters that they’re fictional. Easy enough, right? Right. See the FAQ for more information.
4.	If you’re planning a plot for your character that seriously limits the way other characters in the bar act/move/exist/etc., you need to clear it with those other muns first. Failure to do so results in godmodding and wank, and we don’t want either of those things in our happy little comm. In order to contact other muns OOC, you can either make a Back Room post, or check out the Contact List for email addresses, Y!M/AIM/MSN screen names, and so on. Many of the players in Milliways are in OOC contact with one another, and it’s a good way to make friends and stay on top of the plots.
5.	If you RP in one of milliways_bar's innumerable sub-communities, any threads there must be linked to from a new post in the main community.
6.	And above all, always use common sense. When in doubt, ping a mod – we are always happy to answer questions.

APPLICATIONS ARE CURRENTLY: CLOSED

Please read before sending in an application: Applications are open the first week of every month, unless otherwise posted in ways_back_room. (All players and applicants should watch this community from either a mun or character journal.) Please do not send in an application during the other three weeks of the month, unless it is for a plot-only character as outlined below.

Players may app a maximum of two characters per month, and may have total of ten active characters at any one time. If you already have ten characters and wish to app another, you will need to retire or delete one of the ones you already have. See here for further information.

If you need to app a character specifically for an in-bar plot on top of your monthly/maximum character limits, or outside the regular apps period, please contact a mod and we will see what we can do. This is on the condition that said character is played for that plot only; if you intend to continue playing them as a regular character, then they fall under the above restrictions.

We will approve characters in the order we receive applications. This means characters are first come, first served, and if a player sends in more than two applications, only the first two will be approved. (Plot-only characters are the exception to this rule; see above.)

• CHECK THE CAST LIST. Make sure the character you want is not already taken. Be sure to also check the -RESERVED CHARACTERS section. Some reserved characters cannot be played; others might require you to (for example) give the other players from that canon a heads-up before apping.


• CREATE AN LJ FOR YOUR CHARACTER. Make sure the user info includes: your character's name, a brief description noting any unusual characteristics (eg: wings, horns, intangibility, that italics means that they are singing, etc...) that anyone approaching them might notice, and some basic canon information, so that other players have some background info at their disposal. For an example, see here. You should also include at least one way for other players to contact you (your AIM handle/your email address/a link to a sticky post/whatever). This info page must be completed before we will process your application.

This is both for security purposes and to ensure the application limit is adhered to. If you don't want anybody else to know you're playing a character, simply say so in the email.   • between 300 and 500 words just talking about one or more of such things as: your character's personality, a very brief (ie, one or two lines) summary of any particularly relevant backstory (don't worry, you can expand on this in the journal userinfo, if you want), how you intend to play them, why you want to play them, that sort of thing. This is mostly for us to ensure that you have put some amount of thought into the character, and to reduce the amount of people applying for characters on a whim, and then forgetting about them.

The current Head Barman is Michaelangelo, a.k.a. mnt_mike, played by Bing - ms_ntropy @ livejournal.com, msntropy on AIM. Bing is the Bar Mod -- the person you go to about physical changes to the bar. See the FAQ for more information.

A number of Milliways patrons have taken up employment at the bar. So you know who to order drinks from.

Milliways Security has a specific IC and OOC way of dealing with conflicts and plots. Please read over their FAQ so that you're up to date with procedures.

We're building up a contact list, so once you've joined, feel free to drop by add yourself. It's an excellent way for players to contact each other outside of Milliways to plot, squee, or share O_o moments.
