Summary: Admin console not allowing RPG players to add all journals at once
Original Request:
People who are joining my RPG are reporting to me that the admin console is no longer allowing them to add all the other journals in the game as friends. This is a big problem because there are 270 friends and it would take hours to add them all a few at a time and in order to prevent our game being trolled we only allow friends to comment on the journals and require all player journals to friend other player journals back. If you have made this change because of serial adders I sympathise, but all people have to do with serial adders is ignore and/or ban them--you are going to get a lot of flack from RPG moderators if people can no longer add all the journals in a large game. What's going on? Are the people who created the new character journals doing something wrong or is there some kind of limit?

This is occurring due to a new limit on the rate of friend additions; it's not the fault of any particular user or member of your RPG. The limit was instated for the reasons you describe, in conjunction with LiveJournal raising the Friends limit to 1000 friends (for Basic/Plus users) and 2000 friends (for Paid users). You may instead wish to add friends over the course of several days, as there is otherwise no way to avoid this limit.

Would you be kind enough to elucidate exactly what the limit IS so that we know how to break it up and how many DAYS it will TAKE?

I'm sure it's not 1000, or they wouldn't be having problems.

I think this was a terrible decision on your (collective, not personal) part. Serial adders are annoying to be sure, but they can't actually hurt anyone because all they do, unless you friend them back or have open commenting on your journal, is read public posts, which shouldn't contain information you wouldn't want on the front page of the NY Times. If you (collectively, not personally) wanted to get rid of serial adders without ruining things for players in my game and every other RPG out there that has more than X number of people, or any other friendslocked community where people want to add each other all at once, you (collectively, not personally) could have done whatever it is that GJ does that allows people to remove 'friends-of' their journal.

This screws up my game and still doesn't allow me or anyone else who has been the target of a serial adder to get rid of the serial adder.

To avoid releasing information that would aid serial adders and other similar users from more effectively trolling others, I'm afraid I cannot provide you with information about the exact rate limits that are in place. You may wish to add as many users as you can, and then add the rest over the course of the next few days.

How are they supposed to add as many users as they can, if they don't know how many users that is? What do they have to do, keep taking one off until the Admin Console accepts the list? Then we'll know what the limits are, unless they change every day. If my people are forced to do this--we will not keep the information private for you once we figure it out.

This practise isn't going to get rid of serial adders. They're people who have unlimited amounts of free time which they are just going to use to think of new ways in which to annoy everyone. That's what trolls DO.

This practise is only going to annoy community moderators. Like me. Once again, you're punishing the innocent, not the guilty. And I have three serial adders that have friended me and I still can't get rid of any of them.

I am really wishing I'd moved the game to GJ when we rebooted it. It would be way too much trouble to do that now, when there are thousands of posts in it. Otherwise I would, and the $20/month that I pay for the main journals in it, every month of every year, would be moving with me.

Each console command is executed separately from the one prior; adding a list of users will add as many as possible, and error on any remaining when you reach the limit.

Yes, but we already know our list is over the limit. So all we have to do to figure out what the limit is, unless it changes, is count how many people weren't added.
