Summary: LJArchive comments won't download
Original Request:
I use LJArchive to back up my posts. This most recent time, the journal entries appeared to download with no problem, but the comment download stalled until it timed out with the following error message:

ljArchive Error: System.Xml.XmlException: The 'img' start tag on line 104 does not match the end tag of 'A'. Line 105, position 67.

A look at my comment stream since the last time I ran LJArchive shows no images posted in comments since that last update. This leads me to believe that when LJArchive goes to fetch comments, what comes back through the pipe is not what the program expects. Has LJ changed the way it grants access to comments to programs like LJArchive?

Cheers...

Hi Alex,

Unfortunately, ljArchive is a third-party application, so there's nothing that LiveJournal Support can do about this. You may want to try contacting ljArchive directly.

Alternatively, you can download your entries on LiveJournal itself [http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=8], although this doesn't support backing up comments. Some downloadable clients [http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=158] may offer this functionality, but as they are third-party applications, we aren't able to offer specific recommendations. I'm sorry!

Best,
Connie

Thank you for your response, but you haven't really answered my question:

Has LJ changed the way it grants access to comments to programs like ljArchive?

And, I might add, "since August 1, 2011?"

Cheers...

Thank you for your report. This has been reported to LiveJournal developers, who will resolve the problem as soon as they can. I apologize for the inconvenience. You may wish to watch the "lj_releases" community, because an announcement will be posted there when this problem is resolved.

Thank you for your patience while we've been working on this issue. Our engineering team is still investigating this, and have asked for more information.

We've added some information to the error output to help us identify this problem. Please try using LJ Archive again, and respond back with the full text of the error message you're now getting.
