Frequently Asked Question #418. How much storage space is available for me? Which files can I upload?

Your available storage space is the maximum amount of files you can upload. You can upload images and videos to your LiveJournal.

Which file types are currently supported?

Images: GIF, JPG, PNG

Video:
  • WebM (.webm)

  • AVI (.avi)

  • QuickTime File Format (.mov)

  • Windows Media Video (.wmv)

  • MPEG-4 (.mp4)

  • Matroska (.mkv)

  • 3GPP (.3gp) (please note that 3GPP2 format is not currently supported.)

What are account storage limits for video and photo hosting?

Active users can upload up to 100 GB video per month, total amount is unlimited.

A single photo's size should be no more than 20 Mb.
The overall storage limit depends on your account level. The current limits are:

  • Accounts without additional packages: 1 GB.

  • Accounts with Professional package of service: 100 GB

  • Accounts with Permanent package of service: 1 TB.

Here you can check how much free space you have got left.

How can I enlarge the storage space available for my account?

If you have account without additional packages, you can purchase an account with Professional package of service and automatically enlarge your available storage space to 100 GB.

If your account downgrade from account with Professional package to account without additional packages, available storage space will be reduced to 1 GB. Images and videos you have uploaded will not be deleted and will remain available. But if you wish to upload new files, you will firstly need to delete some of the old, so that overall amount of uploaded files does not exceed 1 GB.

If the overall amount of files you have uploaded equals your available storage space, you will not be able to upload new files unless you delete some of the old.
