Junjou detail

tsk tsk
Anybody on my flist remember how much older Haruhiko and Isaka are than Usagi? I'm trying to update the timeline to include Junjou Mistake, but I can't do that if I don't know when it happens XD

I'm pretty sure Isaka and Haruhiko are the same age, so if I've got one, I've got the other.

Tales of Vesperia

Just thought I'd mention that I've been playing Tales of Vesperia and HOLY CRAP IS IT EVER AWESOME.

I really love the "Oyaji" charas, it seems, because Raven is my fave this time, just like Jade was my fave last time. (Lol, is 35 really an oyaji age? Shawn on Psych is in his thirties!)

Love the graphics, they're beautiful. Especially on my shiny HD tv. Battle system is fun. Sort of an improved Abyss engine. I'm glad I don't need to worry about arte paths like back in Eternia and Symphonia. ON THE OTHER HAND, this new "skill" thing with the learning abilities from weapons is much like in FF9. And somewhat like TWEWY. I've been overleveling just trying to learn as many skills as possible. (I should go out and farm synth items, so I can actually get those 100 skills for Raven...)

Story wise... has some elements which remind me of both Abyss and Symphonia. I don't much like Estelle, but she's the ONLY character I don't like out of the seven, SO. She's very much like Colette, although with a bit more ignorance thrown in. Also, she has pink hair, which seems to be a deal breaker for me. I can't think of a single pink-haired character that I like. (I hated Presea, could only moderately stand Meredy, and HER hair was purple... oh, Arche was okay. Better than the blonde chick.)

Anyway, about.... two thirds of the game done, I think? I'm crossing the ice floes right now. Somebody else play the game so I can fangirl! (WHAT DO YOU MEAN, YOU DON'T HAVE A 360? XO )

(Cleverly stolen from the official anime page. Lol, they tried to keep people from downloading the images.)

OMFG WHEN IS THE NEXT EPISODE OUT?

[manga-ka reviews] Asou Kai

Part two in my probably never-ending series!

After Arai Sachi I've got Asou Kai. Again, not a very big name; I only had one manga by her downloaded so I went to Aarin to find more. XD

Asou Kai )

Not sure if I would recommend her works or not. They didn't make me laugh as much as Arai Sachi's stuff did, and it wasn't as sexy or romantic as other authors I have in my collection. I wish more of her stuff were scanlated, simply because they're good light reads, if nothing else.

LOL Kamiji's blog

So, for people who have been in Japan recently, or keep up with current Japanese pop trends, you might know about the minor sensation "Shuuchishin." They're a group formed of three "Obaka" from the quiz show "Quiz Hexagon." I absolutely love Shuuchishin. They are hilarious in a way that only something Japanese can be. I also have a soft spot for Kamiji, who is absolutely adorable and won me over during the Kyoto special (in which he lost his map to a deer, LOL).

Their songs are:

- 羞恥心 ("Shuuchishin" = "Shame"; their debut song has the same title as their band name)
- 泣かないで ("Nakanaide" = "Don't cry")
- 陽は、また昇る ("Hi wa mata noboru" = "The sun will rise again"; combo with Pabo)
- 我が敵は我にあり ("Waga teki wa ware ni ari"; I have no idea what this is supposed to mean :X)

In any case, of course the three of them have blogs.
Kamiji Yuusuke's blog
Tsuruno Takeshi's blog
Nokubo Naoki's blog

Unsurprisingly, Kamiji has the most popular blog out of the three. He's the best looking, and he's unmarried (as opposed to Tsuruno, who has three kids).

But not only does he have the most popular blog out of the three, he also has (apparently) the most popular blog in the entire world. Or so say several Japanese sources (and translations of those sources). There's a picture of Kamiji getting awarded a world record. However, it isn't listed on the official Guinness site, so I don't know how valid this is.

Still, isn't it a bit silly that you can get a world record just for being a popular idiot? :(

BORED. I'm going through my yaoi folders, I'm gonna review the authors I've got listed here. In alphabetical order, so Arai Sachi is first. (Actually, Amano Yamane is first, but the only thing by her I've got is Crimson Spell and everybody knows that already so I'm skipping it.)

Arai Sachi )
So yes. Cute art and funny stories! :) And a little bit of sexiness mixed in.

Lord of the Flies

Okay, not the book. My apartment is INFESTED WITH FLIES. I think they must be zombie flies, or something, because I keep killing them and they KEEP COMING BACK. They swarm around my window during the day, and around the lamp at night, and I keep fearing I'll end up like the old lady who swallowed a fly.

I guess the only thing I can really do is get fly paper and hope it'll cut down on the population a bit.

:( I've been wasting so much paper swatting these flies. Maybe I should invest in a fly-swatter too.

I do want to know how they keep coming in because my window is CLOSED goddammit. *cries* And it's not like there's organic waste in my room. They don't even swarm in the kitchen, where they might possibly find food! So I guess they're all starving to death or something. But not before they buzz around loudly for a day or two. T_T

OMG.

The Tales of the Abyss anime is AWESOME. The animation is absolutely beautiful and amazing and wow. *_* And lol, GUY AND THE MAIDS.

*goes to watch the second episode*

[EDIT]
OMFG JAAAAAAADE. Being all sexy with his INDIGNATION!

And rewatching the opening... I just realized that I will get Jade/Dist interaction. And. Um. PEONY AND JADE. *_*

Now if only there were HQ versions of ep 2.

What days does this show air?

Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler

So, the first episode of Kuroshitsuji!

It was kind of sort of REALLY different from the first chapter of the manga, but I kind of understand that because they needed to fill more time and I guess they wanted to give people more of a taste of what was in store. Some stuff was pretty funny too. XD I love the ending sequence, showing Sebastian's whole day. Lol, giving the young master a bath.

Sebastian's voice actor sounds hilarious when he tries to speak English. "Yes, my lord" ends up sounding like "Yes, my rod."

The ending gets kind of creepy.

I should probably watch it with subs so I understand all the reasons why the plot happens. But, I don't really want to watch it with subs. I haven't downloaded any scanlations, sticking only to the Japanese, and I don't feel like starting now. I don't mind having only a half idea of the plot. I don't plan on writing fanfic for this series anyway?

Animation is pretty good so far. I don't like the weirdo CG at the beginning, but the rest of it was pretty smooth.

Everybody should watch! Although you may want to wait for subs to be out, Kuroshitsuji isn't nearly as easy to understand as Junjou Romantica XDDD

Fanfic + BLARGH HOMEWORK

  • Sep. 29th, 2008 at 9:13 AM
Where am I going?
Thought I'd mention to the Terrorist fans here that I finally filled the grown-up!Shinobu prompt. :) Although I'll probably cross-post all of that to the JR comm at some point or other.

What do you guys think, should I post my kink meme fics to ff.net? :O

And also, I HATE those "minimum page requirements" things in homework, because I don't know how people can write so freaking much. I think this current assignment (due today, LOL) is MAXIMUM 5 pages, but I've got 2 pages written now and I can't htink of much more to add. And, are two pages enough? It's double-spaced, that's technically only ONE page. Urgh. :(

EXCELLENT CHOICE

Oh man, nothing makes me happier than getting praised XD

For my Change Management class, we need to do an individual paper about a "change agent." Somebody who brought about change in an organization. So, I tried to wrack my brain to figure out ANYBODY. I kind of settled on Ghosn from Renault/Nissan, 'cus I'd heard about him during my Asian Economics class in Japan. Plus, it would kind of have something to do with Japan and Japanese culture, and I know a bit about that.

Well, my prof e-mailed me and told me that Ghosn is a GREAT choice, lol. XD So hurray! I was so worried that I'd somehow messed up and picked a bad person to study, but I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of material on this and if the prof likes him I'm happy.

ALSO, COMPLETELY RANDOM, BUT.

Are there female pedophiles? Do women get convicted of being pedophiles? I've seen a few female rapists on Law&Order:SVU, but never female pedophiles.

I mean, there's all that shota stuff in yaoi, and that's written by women for women, does that mean that in Japan, women are pedophiles regularly?

Speed Racer

Searching for treasure
Speed Racer was the most awesome movie ever. I was right when I said before that all the reviewers probably just DIDN'T GET IT.

Yeah, there were a couple of confusing spots, and I'll have to rewatch the movie. But it was just amazing graphics and fast cars and hilariousness. Also, I am so glad it was made by not!Japanese people, because they would have managed to turn Trixie into a stupid bimbo.

The third little mermaid movie though? Is so bad it can't even be funny anymore. :(

I'm Shy
Name a character from one of my fandoms, and I'll give you either (a) three facts about them from my personal canon/fanon, (b) a reason he/she sucks, (c) a reason he/she is awesomecakes, (d) five things that never happened to that character or (e) five people that character never fell in love with and why. You pick the character. I pick the letter.

Doot doot. Boredom! But there's not enough time to write more ficlets before class. (or, before I go to school to meet up with a friend.) ... Oh yeah, I was going to look into that stuff I should be doing for class.

The World Ends With You

  • Sep. 22nd, 2008 at 7:47 AM
Straight Shooter
I bought すばらしき世界 ("It's a Wonderful World" AKA "The World Ends With You") while I was in Japan. I was having a hard time with the battle system at first so I didn't play it much, but I finally got back into it and was having fun. The battles actually make me want to play!

Story isn't bad, as far as I can tell. Neku annoys me a bit, but he did get better since I ended the first part of the game.

The thing that's the hardest to understand is the Badge abilities. Some of them are straightforward, others not so much. I decided to go check an FAQ and see what I was missing out on.

And now I discovered that the badges evolve, but only in the right circumstances, and suddenly I feel like I've been doing things wrong and urgh. Not to mention you have to use the wireless to evolve some badges. :X How will that work, if I don't have any friends with the game? Will the Japanese game connect to the NA version?

I tend to be all "collect everything!" in RPGs, but I really should just play through the game and enjoy it as is. Badges don't matter! (... although they are the reason I've kind of power-levelled).

I was also kind of surprised to find that the badges got renamed to pins in the NA version.

[EDIT] RHYME IS A GIRL? O_O ... D: I was... so sure... Oh damn.
Also, lol. It never registered that ライム = rhyme. I just thought of it as Lime XD And ビイト made me think of 人 or maybe even Arbitro, but not Beat. XD (Well, "beat" is usually ビート!)

Fic meme!

I feel like writing drabbles?

Hit me up with a pairing and a theme of some sort, I'll write for you. :) Junjou Romantica prompts are super welcome, but I'll write it if I know it. If I can't write it, I'll let you know so you can pick a different one.

actually the Third Reicht was in Hitlers eyes a third great empire that consisted of mainly Armenians

Armenians, eh? Those people from Armenia? I didn't know Hitler had close ties to them!

(I'd call them out on using "Reicht" instead of "Reich," but that word was actually censored on the forum I was browsing. O_o)

Boku no Koe

  • Sep. 21st, 2008 at 7:36 AM
How amusing!
So, randomly readong Boku no Koe by Youka Nitta. It's so-so so far. A story about seiyuus and them apparently getting to into their BL roles and probably ending up in bed together, standard fare. Whatever.

And then one of the cover blurbs says, "realistic seiyuu story!"

...."Realistic"?

Apparently the publisher hasn't received the memo that yaoi is NEVER realistic. :X

[Edit] ARGH. "Don't come on to me! We're both men!" "It's your fault for not conveying any manliness at all."

Whut. Seriously. WHAT? And of course it all leads to sex but ARGH it makes no sense. T_T
