I'm so glad that despite the immaturity of some people close to me, I can still be so goddamn happy with the way things are.

For example. The awesome, awesome blulz party this weekend. (I'm still wiggin' out over how easy it is for me to stalk VISIT Lessa. YEAH, NOT WEIRD AT ALL~)

And, despite my job situation looking realy bleak (since my lab hasn't gotten funding), I'm still connecting so well with people from the department. Yeah, my mineralogy class? Totally awesome people who are on the same wavelength as me. You know it's awesome when you can go to a 3 hr and really hard super chemistry-intense lab and have SO much fun.

Yeah, totes. Also, the weather in LA has been great, so YES. Cool nights = <3

Today I totes just embarassed myself in front of Joel McHale, the host from The Soup on E!. When we were talking, I was being alll dyslexic and super nervous and ~starstruck~, lulz. Anyway, it was still awesome because he's one of the coolest celebs out there.

Okay. Just checked my friends' page and I was so delighted to see that antipeace's entries appeared, I decided to post. (backstory: I abandoned LJ for so long that I didn't realize she had gotten a new journal for like. A long time. Yeahhh.....I FELT REALLY BAD ABOUT THAT OMG. okay.)

In other news, I'm devastated that the Yangtze river dolphin was declared "probably extinct" as of yesterday. Causes: pollution, over hunting (fishing? dolphin-ing?), and lack of intervention in the dwindling populations. It's the first vertebrate to be obliterated by human activity in over 50 years, and the first cetacean (whales, porpoises) to be obliterated by human activity period.You can read the story here.

Okay so. Recently hung out with Laura. We were gonna go see I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry, but the gods of the movie theatres kept messing up our timing. We drove around like everywhere and had deep talks. The kind you have over coffee. BUT THERE WAS NO COFFEE.

I still need to get a lot of stuff for my apartment. I GOT MY BACKPACK AND LAPTOP BAG TODAY. I should post pictures because.... well, everything in my life matches/coordinates. YEAH NEATO I KNOW

SUMMER POTPOURRI

♥ I got my laptop the other day in the mail. Super excited! It's a Sony Vaio CR. Still need to get all my files from my other compie, though.... the Vaio is so pretty. Vista isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Its battery lasts for a pretty long time, too... although we got the large capacity battery, so of course it's gonna last (even though it makes it heavier sfdjkl; blargh well it's okay calm down).
♥ I really, REALLY have been bad about keeping in touch with people. I saw Dua for the second time this summer, and finally called Jon. Most people I just chat on the netz with (Keith, Abby), but really. I think I rely on facebook too much for the whole "keeping in touch" thing... jeez.

♥ Hokay so. I got my Welcome Week schedule all planned out. Only listing the muy importante stuff--
21st: 7am flight to LA. YEAH MORNING WOO. Shopping.
22nd: MOVE-IN DAY.
23rd, 24th: microseminar. It's only 90 minutes each day. I signed up for "The Hitchhiker's Guide to String Theory." It sounds neat!
25th: volunteering. I'll be helping to paint a mural for a non-profit which helps out people with special needs.
26th: free shuttle to VENICE BEACH. omg omg omg beach. I'm not a beachcomber or anything... really. I just never get ot see it. If you never got to see rocks, you'd prolly be excited to see one, wouldn't you? Okay, extreme example... but yeah.
