Hello, slosses.

I started this journal three or four years ago. I've changed an awful lot since then. For me, this year is about making a fresh start. So, along with a better attitude, I'm going to start 2008 with a new LJ.

I've added everyone on my flist who still updates their LJ. If you haven't updated your LJ in a long while, but would still like to be able to read my entries, just comment on this post.

If you don't want me to add you on my new LJ, no hard feelings :) Just leave a comment here, and I'll remove you.

Hopefully I'll see you over at my other journal :)

Yesss, so my internet was gone for a few days. In that time, I did writerly stuff, as you can read here.

I should have been doing revisiony stuff, but I didn't, and will start tomorrow.

Today I went and did some work in a local posh clothing store. I'll find out if I'm going to be hired in two weeks. In the mean time, I'm going to revise! Yes, really.

And, well, that's about it really. The stuff I did is described at the link I just gave you, so go there or something. *thumbs up*

seals!
Does anyone want to team up with me to do Script Frenzy in June?

Yeah, just to be clear, I've never even attempted to write something like a script/screenplay before, but writing = win, so yeah, I'm all for it. Just expect me to suck, is all. I'm open to all genres/subjects, so long as I get to mess around a bit.

Yes, I'm getting quite serious about this whole writing thing. I'm currently trying to get some short stories published. You can follow this undoubtedly hilarious process here.

With my ego boosted by the friendly and helpful constructive criticism I received from the friendly people over in [info]genrechallenge, I just submitted a short story to a fiction magazine. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.

50 books

So, I've decided to do this 50 book challenge thing. Books I've read so far this year:

The Dark Half by Stephen King
Perfume by Patrick Süskind
1984 by George Orwell
Cell by Stephen King
Truckers by Terry Pratchett (reread)
Diggers by Terry Pratchett (reread)
The Twits by Roald Dahl (reread)
Jingo by Terry Pratchett (reread)

Yeah, I like kid's books. So what? I read them before I decided to do this challenge, so I read them for enjoyment, not because you can read them really quickly.

I forgot how disturbing The Twits was, as well.

Right, so that's 8 books down in total, but only 4 actual new ones. I'm not sure what counts and what doesn't, I think it's personal. I'm really just curious how many books I read each year - I'm pretty sure it's more than fifty, especially now I'm studying English at university level.

Time will tell.

And hopefully more updates in the new year!

Things have been extremely quiet around here recently. It's almost suspicious. I haven't had much to say, because I don't like to talk about bad things too much and there haven't been too many cheerful things to talk about.

Most of my time goes into uni, writing and losing weight right now. That might not sound like much, but it's certainly keeping me busy.

I hope you're all well, and you can count on hearing more from me in 2007.

Christmas ball

Last Friday was the Norbertus Christmas Ball. I graduated from the Norbertus last June, but I was allowed to go back one final time. For the people who don't see me on a regular basis here in Leiden, it was the first time they saw my new haircut. One person said that I now remind them of Ana from Scissor Sisters. Needless to say, that was incredibly flattering.

Unfortnately, the following photos are not. )

NaNoWriMo didn't work out, weight loss is frustratingly slow and having money but not being able to spend it is simply excruciating.

Now I'm going to go have an extremely healthy ham sandwich. Or maybe not. I feel ill. But I'm still going to Uni because I'm a fucking TROOPER goddamnit. *grumble*
