More Dhanakosa Pics

The bruising on my bum from the wee tumble I took has gone down lots and lots. But there was a pain that just wasn't going away, and it wasn't on the same side that I fell. So yesterday I finally went to get it looked at. Turns out that I broke my pelvis. Which sounds more exciting than it actually is. If I'd fractured it then it'd be rather a problem. But as it's just a wee cracked bit of bone in a place that tends not to flex it's not a problem. Jogging isn't advised. But then nor is falling off a bike.

Some more photos from Dhanakosa the other week. Trees are still involved, but I wasn't thinking "photos of trees" for these. And those are Buddhist prayer flags, not dirty laundry. So they tell me.

Comments

the first one is especially beautiful.

eeeek about your hip :( i hope you feel better soon.
Definitely not multicoloured knickers, no.
I wouldn't want to do much sitting meditation with a cracked pelvis, either. My best wishes go out to you.
It can be dumb question, but "Is there Buddhist in Scottland?" Found it's interesting to see 'buddhis prayer flags' in your picture...

Take care!
I recently read somewhere that there are about 15,000 people in Scotland who consider themselves Buddhist. The yoga class that I attend is at the Glasgow Buddhist Centre; Dhanakosa, where the pictures were taken, is a Buddhist retreat centre for the Western Buddhist Order; there are a few other places around Scotland (Samye Ling is one that comes to mind) that have Tibetan monasteries. It's a fairly small and mostly unnoticed portion of the population. But there are certainly a few around!
Reconized the flags from my sister and brother-in-law's place. (They are Tibetan Buddists)

You create such lovely photos - I especially loved your earlier overexposures. Stunning nature shots!

I hope you don't mind that I've added you as an lj- friend.
Thanks :-)
Certainly I don't mind, no.

Just curious as to what film and camera you use to make the colors ping so.
Most of the colour pictures are taken with a Canon 300D - digital SLR. Any colour film pictures are usually on Velvia 50 or Provia 100 with Canon (35mm), Bronica (medium format) or MPP (large format) cameras.
Just want to say I think your pics are beautiful and I've added you on my friends page.
Thanks very much :-)
wow, pretty! mind if I friend you?
Thank you - I don't mind at all!
So by now I'm sure you've noticed that Neil Gaiman mentioned your photography in his blog. I have to admit, I was very suspicious, but he was right; your work is stunning. Do you mind if I add you to my friends list? I've been flipping through your blog and I am really enjoying it.
I'm not sure how Mr Gaiman got to my pictures, but I'm very flattered that he linked here. Glad you like the pictures!
Hi - came her via Neil Gaiman's blog and liked the pictures, so I friended you. You have some really nice work!
Ditto, hello :)
Hello :-)
And thanks.
Thanks a lot!
Hello there! Like those who have commented before me, I have found your journal through Neil Gaiman's blog and am absolutely in love with your work. I have just friended you - hope you don't mind.
I don't mind at all. And I'm very glad you like the pictures - thanks! :-)
Hello! You've gotten very popular all of a sudden. I hope you don't mind that I've added you as well. Your photography is all really lovely and you seem to be as fond of the macro lens as I am. Heh.

I generally don't post photos on my livejournal, but I have them all in this gallery here. Lots of nature photography there.
you seem to be as fond of the macro lens as I am

When in doubt, get in close :-)
Same story … we go where Mr. Gaiman points. And he pointed at your beautiful photography! Hope you don’t mind a random friending. :)
Thank you!
No I don't mind in the slightest :-)

You're a professional photographer ?
You're a professional photographer ?

Haha - no. Only in my dreams :-)
It's just something I do for pleasure.
Another Gaimanite to friend you. ^_^
Thanks :-)

:O

Dropped by this post to see how your hip was doing and suddenly you've become famous!

*gives you cushy pillow to help recovery if needed*

Re: :O

I hope Marty's Bruised Bum (tm) doesn't forget the little people now that it's famous.

Re: :O

MBB(tm) has a long and accurate memory and you little folk will doubtless be remembered. Eventually! :-)

Re: :O

The question then becomes whether or not we *really* want to be remembered by MBB(tm)! I'd much prefer being remembered by Marty himself!

Re: :O

But not yet rich :-)

Thanks for the pillow. I promise to make good use of it!
