Death Cab For Cutie - Movie Script Ending |
] |
Tomorrow my parents arrive here. I still can't believe it. I guess this really is the end of my time in Canada. I probably won't be updating this anymore while we are driving to Vancouver and back, so, this is it then.
I might just carry on with this journal as I get home, but I haven't made up my mind about that yet.
Btw some news: Last weekend it rained for ever and ever and our basement flooded abit. But not as much as the neighbours! We went there to help them move stuff out of the basement, I carried up like three sofa's, the TV, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Amanda helped me with the sofa's. It wastragic though. Also, the pond almost overflowed the berm so we had to get sandbags at like 1 in the morning, the police was going door to door to say we could evacuate if we wanted to. And there was like a foot high waterfall going over the road at one point. I got to drive through it four times. Whoo!
Today it's sunny with a few clouds, it just looks like nothing happened at all. Strange thing, the wheather.
Well, I hope everyone had a fun time reading my journal :| Oh boy that sounds dumb. But anyways, this is it. I'm gone. Good bye Canada, it has been fun.
Over and out.

First of all, Larissa, CONGRATULATIONS! I know how good it feels to finally graduate, so I'm sure you're out of your head by now.
And uhm, second of all, Myrna and I went to Lake Louise yesterday, and hiked up to the teahouse, which was a long way. Up there we had tea, and I had fun feeding nuts to the chipmunks.
And I was going to add something else but we're leaving for lunch now.
I'm almost packed!
Oh right, I saw a moose :D

Ugh.
It's like waking up realizing you're late for school.
I have only 6 days left! 6 days before my parents arrive. This is just odd. For some reason I thought there was way more time than that. This is unfair. I wished for this moment many many times and it never came, and yet now, when I am least expecting it, it's suddenly there! Screwed up thing time is. Not that I'm not looking foward to seeing everyone again but it's just weird.
So I'm running out of time. Out of time to do what? Hah. I guess I'm not running out of time afterall. Except for packing maybe. But I'll manage.
You guys, this is it! We're nearing the end! Or at least I am. This must mean I've been writing in this journal for over ten months. Gasp. Man, gotta picture this for a minute.
mmmmm yeah.
Well wow, I guess this is close to the end then. From now on all you'll hear of me is how I am packing, packing, and doing some packing.

Well, no more school for me!
Thursday was my last day of school and it was more sad than I thought it would be.
Now I am at Bev's house and all is good. Yesterday we went to Spruce Meadows and saw the musical parade from the RCMP. The did a very good job at that. Today I woke up at about 12, and it was raining again. And Thundering, and lightninging >| Oh well. As long as it's gone by the 20th I don't mind too much.
Phoo. Never again high schol classes! I'm kind of relieved :)
P.S.
SB! Sorry I didn't say Gbye to you but I looked ALL over for you during lunch hour, but I couldnt find you! ;|

There was an emercency message on TV that said they are starting to evacuate people in High River and further south. :O There are also several bike paths by the river in Calgary that are underwater. And they're expecting two more days of rain! That ought to be exiting.

Death Cab For Cutie - Title And Registration |

Today was my last Tuesday at school. Only 2 days left! I am not doing very much in school anymore, as you might have guessed. I still pretend to do my best though :))
Meanwhile, it pours. It pours, it rains, it drizzles and drops.
Calgarians, obviously, are not used to this type of wheather and complain about it all the time. Especially on the C-train. Or well, maybe they complain about it all day and I'm just not there to witness it. Anyhow, this is unusual. It has been going on like this for about a week now, and there have been floodwarnings in southern Alberta. Pff. Floodwarnings!
Well anyhow, there's not much to say. Except perhaps that this lady got killed by a bear at Canmore where we hiked two weeks ago ;| They shot the bear. Obviously. People are dissatisfied but if they keep expanding Canmore into bear territory this would be the least they can expect.
Lala.
All these grey clouds remind me of Holland! 8)

Only four days of school left! Who could be happier!
Today was my last friday at school. Everyone envies me so much.
Something real stupid happened today too. After school Melissa and I went shopping at Marketmall. We took the bus there. While we were sitting in the bus I noticed there was water on the floor in the bus. It went back and forth as the bus drove. I watched it with interest. After I while I felt I should say something, so I said "Look there is water om the floor of the bus". I bent foward to see where it came from. It came from my backpack. Stupid. Idiot. I am. My waterbottle had unbottled itself and was pouring water all over my backpack, probably having a fun time doing so as well!
I saved most of the paperwork and books, but still. My bum was wet. Buh.
Yet even this will not keep me from being happy. So close to holidays! So, SO close!
We also did our French presentation about croquet today, with 4 of us. We were supposed to talk for 7 minutes a person. So at some point we had this really long page about how to keep your lawn nice and healthy and when to mow it, when is the best time to vertilize it and stuff, and what time the insects mate and what influence this has on your lawn. At some point we were just laughing really hard so it was all good. We ended up with 20 minutes, but still.
Tomorrow I will probably sleep in. Wieske, suggesties voor download van liedjes uit de goede oude tijd zijn welkom. Van Jorien, Mark en Papa en Mama ook :)

Last weekend I've been over at bev's place in Bragg Creek. It looks way different up there now that all the green is coming out, and oh so pretty! On friday and saturday we volunteerd at the Calgary International Children's Festival. But frankly, besides from setting up some stuff for the silent auction on friday I didn't do very much.
The wheather has been real nice. On Sunday morning I went canoeing with Alex and Rachel and Rachel's friend, and my back got severly burned. Even though we didn't stay out on the water for so long, as a result of certain peoples behaviour.
Myrna and Gary picked me up at about 13.30 and we went up to Canmore to do some hiking. Some serious hiking I must say, even though they said it was just a little hike. It took us two hours, but it was totally worth it! It was majorly pretty up there. whee.
Then today, something interesting happened. People had told me that my name had been on the list of graduates of this year. Therefore I wondered if they had like a diploma for me or anything. Turns out, they did! And I got this really official looking paper saying that I, Rianne van der Heijden, have succesfully completed all the blablabla. But yay! I graduated! And I didn't even have to do anything for it :)) So from now on you may all call me, Ri, the twice graduated one. >D
Anyways.. My backpack is a pain on these redburned shoulders. And it remains windy and hot outside. Though they're expecting some rain on Thursday. This was your local wheather report. Back to the INTERNET!

The Postal Service - Such Great Heights |
] |
Today was a short day at school, at 12.00 school was out. So I finished my article about online gaming addiction in Journalism, then did a bunch of nothing in German, and French was only half an hour in which I played cards.
Then I thought I'd go home like normal, but in fact, the C-train was packed! It seemed everyone was headed toward the stampede grounds to go see the Queen. That's right, Queen Elizabeth II was here! In Calgary! Only for five hours though. Pfff. 5 hours! That's just not cool. Nevertheless it was nice to see all those people being all happy and waving their lil' Canada flags.
By the way, last night I had the strangest dream! It went as follows;
I was sitting at the computer in our old house in Holland. And actually I think I was just switching from a dream with boats full of dogs to this one, at my computer. Cause suddenly all the dogs were on the screen. ..um, yeah. So then, the doorbell rang! And it was late at night and I was home alone. So I was about to open the front door when I suddenly remembered how mom always says that I should first look through the lil' window in the door, to see who it is. (We have a window in the door that opens and closes, and you cant see through the glass.) So at the final second I opened the lil' window to receive the scare of my life, there was a guy with a guy standing on our doorstep! He saw me looking and was about to pull his gun when I closed the window and somehow fell backward onto the stairs. I laid there for a while being really scared when I got even more scared at the thought of this; the back door was unlocked. So I get up and race like crazy towards the kitchen, and look for the key to lock the door. I can't find the key! And the crazy criminal appears in the backdoor window so I hopelessly try to barricade the door with my own weight, and fail miserably. Now, next thing I know he's inside and I'm saying things like "Please don't shoot me!". For some reason I felt very worried that he was going to take our pc. Then, Mom and dad arrive home. Both in seperate cars. And mom's is suddenly green. The criminal then takes me into mom's car as a hostage and says I have to drive. I don't wanna go anywhere so I pull the emergency break, (and press some "stop" buttons that suddenly appeared on the dashboard) but you know how that goes with brakes, you can still drive as long as you give enough gas. So we're driving. I'm very nervous and suddenly I see two police cars. Desperate for attention I start steering the car all over the road, in the hope they might see me. They do! Then stop us and arrest the bad guy. The end!
It was so dumb, this dream was so realistic that when my timer went off I couldnt seriously believe it hadn't been real, and more felt like I'd just ran the marathon than had a good night sleep.

Kansas - Dust In The Wind |

Well, I'm back again.
May 14th I left to go visit Spaztic and mcatis in Ohio. I was really nervous when I got there, as always, but anyhow, I had a really good time. We didn't do that much the entire week, except just hanging out, we watched alot of tv, and played video games, and we went to see Star Wars Episode III but for me it was all quite alright. It was wonderful not having to do anything or worry about stuff. Yesterday I arrived back in Calgary at 23:40, and Myrna came and picked me up.
Today is Victoria Day, I'm preparing for school. Mentally. It was really nice wheather so I laid out in the sun for several hours and got myself a nice sunburn.
So overall the last 9 days have been very holiday like, tomorrow is when real life starts again. Only four weeks left! Mom and Dad better start packing.

Mission accomplished! Even though we didnt have much text for our french presentation, it was half french/dutch so I just pasted some useless information in dutch after every sentence, and all was good!
Furthermore, it is shiny and sunny. Outside.
Called the apple helpline and talk to some guy who obviously thought he was very funny. He was able to help me though, so that was good.
I have US dollars! They all look alike, but im so exited!! Actual TV money :DD!!

Our french presentation is not even two pages long. How does that add up to 6 minutes of talking for each of us?
Reading the restaurant at the end of the universe. Great great books these are. That Douglas Adams, rest his soul, must have been a remarkable man!
I drove to school again today. In rush hour. Wee.

Well darn. I went up to the library to get the second book from Douglas Adams (I read "a hithikers guide to the galaxy" yesterday) and what does the school do? They close the library! So much for one book a day.
I also went horsebackriding again today, witnessed some spoiled kid get totally sacked because she nevers listens and only does what she wants to do. It was an amusing lesson.
Now I'm here at the pc, having to finish a script for french class. Hrmbl.
An oh, whats with the snow?

Last weekend we went to Edmonton! We left on Friday at about 2, cause I didn't have school anyways. It's about a three hour drive from Calgary to Edmonton, and so we arrived around five. Now I could go on describing everything that happened, but it all comes down to this; we had a great fun weekend, we (well they, more like it) helped move Myrna's daughter and her husband into their new house, while I spend all day shopping in West Edmonton Mall. We went out to dinner both friday and saturday night. We stayed at the Fantasyland hotel right at the mall from saturday on sunday, and sunday morning we had a big brunch with the whole family (grandma's and brothers and sisters and whatnot) because of mothersday. And the buffet was great. I will list all the things they had right here:
So, yeah, there was: pancakes, waffles, eggs, (in all ways) potatoes, spare ribs, fish, about 5 different pies for dessert, cinnamon buns, danish' cakes, chocolate mouse, strawberry mouse, about 14 different kind of salads, 5 kinds of cheeses, chroissants, toast, french toast, sausage, bacon, and then there was the best thing of all, THE CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN! And the marshmellows, melon, strawbarries and banana's to dip into it. The orange juice was a fountain as well.
You can guess I was very sick after that.
Im running/fastwalking around the boulevard almost every day now, there's this girl on fear factor that just lost 80 pounds! If she can do it, I can too. Mmmyeah.
Attending school results in much work. Fortunatly, this won't be going on for too much longer.
>D! pom pom pom!

Went to school in a skirt today. It was .. different. Skirts do make me feel uncomfortable, but I guess it looked alright.
This weekend we will be going to Edmonton. And I'll go shopping in West Edmonton Mall (read: biggest mall in the world) again! So that's exiting.
Furthermore, I don't have schol tomorrow, which is good! Cause it means I can sleep in. I almost fell asleep on the bus home today. So nya.
I also finally booked my flight to Ohio, the people at the desk took forever but really helped me alot. So hopefully I will be in Ohio from may 14th till the 22nd.
Now I should probably do something. Bye!

Well, I dyed my hair again, or actually Myrna did, and it's dark brown now. I like it. Yesterday I had my second horseriding lesson, and they in fact did put me on another horse, and things went much better! It was very exhausting though, I had a private lesson of about half an hour and I was really really exhausted afterwards. Which proves what louzy shape I am in.
Saturday Myrna and Gary were out to a business dinner, so I ordered pizza and watched Flight of the Phoenix on pay per view. It was an ok movie. Speaking of pay per view, they should introduce that in holland! No more cycling to the videostore, no, order your movies through your tv!
As of today I am going to eat only healthy food, and exersize. In my lunch I took things like, cellery sticks, carrots, red and orange peppers and cucumber. But then I got really ungry and bought a pizza bun in the cafeteria >| Oh well. I'm trying!

Queens Of The Stone Age - Like A Drug |

On the way home from school today, I sat next to an elderly man in the C-train. At some point he asked me in somewhat broken english if I could help him explain some english words. He thought I was Canadian! (!!) As we talked, he told me he was from Irak, and that he immigrated to Canada three years ago. Because he was over 60 years old he found it hard to get a job, but he said Canada was better than Irak. When I asked him about Irak he said that it was really dangerous to live there, he said people were being executed all the time, without any good reason, and he and his family were prosecuted in Irak because they were Christian. It sounded pretty intense. He told me about people who want to kill themselves, so they tie explosives to their bodies and run into a crowd and boom, and that there's really nothing they can do about this.
So that was interesting/shocking.
For the rest, my email account seems down! I hope it'll be back up soon, but just so all of you know I'm not able to read any email now, unless you sent it to riannev1@cbemail.ca.

Well, today I went horseriding for the first time here at the Equinox stables. Naturally, they put me on the slowest horse of all, because they didn't know how I rode yet. And boy oh boy, that was one heck of a workout, I guess that's why I gained all those pounds in Canada, I stopped horseriding! Well anyways, things were going alright (besides from me being completely exhausted) when I was galopping (or cantering) and suddenly my horse tripped! All I saw is that she went down and I sort of made a sommersault and landed on the sand. It hurt quite abit. After sitting there for a while I decided to get back on though, cause that what you do when you fall off a horse. And so I continued the lesson. My neck hurts abit, especially when I turn my head to the right, and my back feels kind of sore. But that really got me thinking, lucky me I was wearing a cap, cause for all I know I coud've broken my neck! I landed right on my head, so. Imagine that! Exchange student in Canada, dies without ever seeing homeland again! That would sure suck. Before I was always like "ok let's do it, no matter if I break a leg or something". But come to think of it, I really don't want to break a leg in Canada, and I don't want to die in Canada either!!
Now I know I musn't overreact, but still! I'm going to ride upcoming sunday again, and they put me on the same hore so that I can "overcome my fears". Hah. Or maybe just because they only have 2 horses for lessons. Most people that ride there are just kids whose parents buy them ponies and all that. Oh well I don't mind, they said I could use a stick next time >D
Oh and, I might be allergic to strawberries! Yesterday I got all these weird red hives on my arms and my belly, and talking to mom on the phone, she said strawberries sometimes cause that sort of thing. I had in fact eaten strawberries that day.. COULD IT BE?
