Lots of fond memories of this film. It's held up pretty well over time, I think. |

Really not as bad as I was expecting. Myers really did grate much of the time though. |

So long since I've seen this, and I'd forgotten just how much I loved it. Great fun film. |

A great film. Wasn't too impressed by the final con though - maybe it's because I knew what was going to happen? This was the first time that I'd seen the film, but I'm sure that that bit of the con has been done more convincingly in other things - noticeably (for me, anyway) in Hustle |

Dumb fun. I enjoyed this, but it'll be quite a while until I see it again I reckon |

A-
Last time I saw this was before I read the book. When I did get round to reading the book I was impressed by quite how well it had been translated to the screen. Having watched it again, I realise just how much of the Ellie section was cut out of the film

Not as good as I was hoping for. The ending was better than the remake though

Going from a fantastic film to a terrible one in one night is always... fun. This 1979 film of Cronenberg's is really dire. From the back of the DVD box:
When a series of brutally horrific murders takes place - including Nola's parents - Frank begins to suspect that his wife and Dr Raglan are implicated. A band of homicidal cloned midgets - THE BROOD - are terrorising the neighbourhood, weemingly provocked by Nola's rages. Naturally nobody believes Frank and it's left to him to stop the typically Cronenberg nightmarish bloodbath of mayhem and destruction.
Let's dissect that synopsis, shall we? The film is 90 minutes long. The "series" of murders is actually three (the minimum in my mind that a series could possibly be), and they tookabout an hour and ten minutes to perform. It took an hour to get to the point where Nola's parents were dead. The "band of homicidal cloned midgets" never actually terrorises the neighbourhood - at most there are two of them out in the wild, and that's only at the one hour and ten minute mark.
Oh, and two of the four pictures on the DVD box are fromt he last 5 minutes of the film.

Utterly fantastic. I'd never seen this before, and I was expecting to hate it, but it was brilliant! Truely, I loved this film.

A great film, pure and simple. I'd completely fogotten about the flashbacks though.

Not really sure if I was laughing with this, or at this. It was a good enough film, if overly melodramatic.

Decent enough bit of eye candy, but overall a bit meh. Glad that I saw it at the cinema, but I don't think I'll be watching it again any time soon.
I did love the 5-10 minute silent instant messaging sequence.
Favourite line? "Thank you. Thank you for your honesty. Now fuck off and die"

Not a wonderful film, in fact I thought that the trailer was better than the film itself. Pretty good how it kept the viewer just as confused as Dustin though

Great fun. This one was bordering on an A-. I still wonder how it got an A- rating with all the Evil Dead-esque stuff in the hospital room. Excellent direction from Sam, but crap hair from MJ

Great fun (ish). All the explosions seemed much, MUCH louder than the talking bits, which wasn't good.
