Going from a fantastic film to a terrible one in one night is always... fun. This 1979 film of Cronenberg's is really dire. From the back of the DVD box:

When a series of brutally horrific murders takes place - including Nola's parents - Frank begins to suspect that his wife and Dr Raglan are implicated. A band of homicidal cloned midgets - THE BROOD - are terrorising the neighbourhood, weemingly provocked by Nola's rages. Naturally nobody believes Frank and it's left to him to stop the typically Cronenberg nightmarish bloodbath of mayhem and destruction.

Let's dissect that synopsis, shall we? The film is 90 minutes long. The "series" of murders is actually three (the minimum in my mind that a series could possibly be), and they tookabout an hour and ten minutes to perform. It took an hour to get to the point where Nola's parents were dead. The "band of homicidal cloned midgets" never actually terrorises the neighbourhood - at most there are two of them out in the wild, and that's only at the one hour and ten minute mark. Oh, and two of the four pictures on the DVD box are fromt he last 5 minutes of the film.
