HOME AND OLYMPICS
I AM SOOOOO TIRED. I am back from Florida. Disney was all sorts of fun and crazy. Crazy being my family hitting up multiple parks on the same day. Fun was getting into a random conversation with two cast members about roller coasters in Florida vs. Jersey. Fun and Crazy was on our last night my sister and I getting to go Epcot by ourselves. The bad part of the trip was getting sick in the airport on the way home.

Oh and the Olympic Opening Ceremony? Awesome. I loves me the Olympics.

In the past three days I have read and finished 47.Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer and 28.Dark Lover by J.R. Ward. Breaking Dawn finished up the Twilight Saga and I really disliked it. Thus leading me to read ANOTHER vampire book in hopes that it was better, Dark Lover. DL was good, I think. It is popcorn movie crack boiled down to a romance book. It's pretty well-known in the paranormal romance world as being UTTER CRACK. Seriously. The main heroes, the Black Dagger Brotherhood, are named Wrath, Rhage, Zsadist, Phury, Vishous, and Tohrment. SO RIDICULOUS. I plan on reading them all. xD

Since getting back I've been kept busy in my summer job as a chauffeur, travel agent and personal assistant. Today I've been cleaning out my room with my sister. I'm going to pack up most of my stuff and put it in storage. By next week I plan on being packed up for college and everything else stored.

AND SPEAKING OF STUFF...

FUTURE ROOMMATES [info]theo_winterwood and [info]emhen,
I am stocking our kitchen minus food (though I did just buy seven boxes of cereal). I have cookware, new cookware, and I will show you it as soon as I fix my camera. I'm getting pots but I have casserole dishes, four placesets, matching silverware, and a 51 cutlery/gadget set. So does anyone want to buy a microwave? ^^

Okay back to the Olympics (hell yes, GO EARTH!) ^^. And then reading. And possible sorting out all my stuff. So much stuff to do.

I seriously have no idea what is up with me and the world around me this month. On the subject of my wrists. I went to the doctor and got diagnosed with Tendonitis/Cumulative Trauma Disorder. So bleh on that front. I'm taking Celebrex and I am SUPPOSED to go to therapy but we'll see if that happens.

I've been going to my library ALOT. The librarians love my taste in television. I've been checking out Foyle's War and the old Miss Marple series. I have also read a ton of books in relation to last year.

This summer's count:
32. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling
-It's over. Finally.
33. The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler
-Ooh. Enjoyable. Loved Grigg.
34. Scandal's Bride by Stephanie Laurens
-The weakest Bar Cynster novel I have read. Barely any conflicts in the story.
35. Into the Wild by Sarah Beth Durst
-Young girl's Mum happens to be Rapunzel and they have been watching over the Wild. Wild gets loose. Fairy tales ensue all over, again. Defintely a YA book. I really need to the read sequel. It was way to short.
36. Devil's Bride by Stephanie Laurens
-Reread. First Bar Cynster book. SL writes the best regency alpha males. They were my first!
37. A Rake's Vow by Stephanie Laurens
-Second BC book. I love it.
38. Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr
-A ton of YA "faery" books are coming out. This book? I HATED IT. It seemed all over the place and I had no sympathy for any of the characters. I might read the sequel it hopes of it getting better.
39. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie
-Funniest Romance Writer EVER. This book was so good. I usually don't read Contemporaries (Except for Nora Roberts) so this was such a great surprise. Totally reccomend.
40. Batman: Harley and Ivy by Paul Dini, Judd Winick, and others
-Paul Dini being Paul Dini, CHEESECAKE, And Judd Winick can't write.
41. Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
-I LOVE THIS BOOK. I am so glad I finally read it. Putting it down was hard. And I really want to read this in a classroom/book club setting because I need to talk about it. The movie looks to upset me as an adaptation. But as a movie it is supposed to me good.
42. The Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman
-Finally read it after watch the TV adaption with Billie Piper and JJ Feild. (Sam and I are obsessed with JJ Feild. Why is the man not in more things? Also what the hell is Peter Greenway ever thinking?) I really enjoyed it. Fred and Jim were my favorite characters.
43. Wanted by Mark Millar, JG Jones
-Bleh. Not my cup of tea. Looking forward to finally seeing the movie because what the hell did they do to it.
44. The Book of Ballads by Charles Vess AND LOTS OF WRITERS
-Ooh very pretty, very lovely, must own it.
45. Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons
-Finally got around to reading it. I really wish I was around when it first came out. I think the impact would have been a little different. I really liked it. I love Alan Moore's writing and I think Dave Gibbons is top notch. But seriously, the movie? Poor Mr. Moore.
46. The Shadow in the North by Philip Pullman
-I LOVED IT TOO. FRED. I love him. JIM!!! WEBSTER AND CHARLES!!!

So on my reading next list:
-Something by Evelyn Waugh. I have A Handful of Dust out from the library.
-Bronze Canticles before I die in mysterious circumstances
-Hood, because I found my copy.
-Tiger in the Well, and The Tin Princess because they round out the Mr. Pullman's Lockhart/Lockhart related quartet. Also, excellent travel reading.

So my internet died. And now goes out intermittently. The AC is broken leaving me dismal. AND ON FRIDAY I GO TO DISNEY WORLD. Hopefully after a recharge of my batteries and being away from Jersey, I shall be back.

[GIP] And sickness...
HI WORLD.

I have been out of commission for the past few days. I have a stupid sinus infection that is close to killing me. I had a bad fever. I missed Thor winning the 2nd stage of the Tour de France because I was passed out.

And now mother nature is screwing me over. Must go find pain killers.

So, I'm probably going to be out of commission for another day or so. And I lost my cell phone. Which annoys me immensely. It's probably dead somewhere. Hopefully in my house.

Once I am back in full operating order I will be back online.

Until then.

P.S. My wrist has been killing me, which is also why lack of me being online. I finally got a doctors appointment but it is not for awhile. Awhile being the end of July.

When you see this line on your f-list, quote something from Doctor Who.

There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, and the sea is asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace; we've got work to do!

The Doctor's final words, in "Survival"

--

Yes, it is my favorite quote and always will be. I finished season 2 of Torchwood. I'm caught up on Doctor Who. My top I have been knitting over about a month is almost complete. One more strap + blocking = WIN. So close.

How do You Kill A Superman?
I have much to talk about but I am distracted by INSPECTOR LEWIS on Masterpiece MYSTERY.

LEWIS! LEWIS IS WONDERFUL! And his new partner is also wonderful. I miss Morse.

I went antiquing today with my Mum and younger sister. I bought comics! First antique mall I bought a Green Lantern Silver Age Classics: Showcase 22, Green Lantern Mosaic #1, and #1 of Green Lantern Corps Quarterly (with ALAN SCOTT AND G'NORT!). The second mall I picked up a bunch of old Action Comics. At a third mall I picked up three old romance comics from the '60s that were released through DC, Charlton Comics, and MALE PUBLISHING CORP. xD

So comics, Inspector Lewis, and Birch Beer Floats. Good day.

Heads up:
I am being kept up by my dorky friends. Oh my.

I'm not around this weekend. My family is going to Hershey Park as a pseudo-birthday thing for me. ROLLER COASTERS!

I turn 21 on Monday which is surreal. One of my Mum's work/running friends wants to go with us on my birthday when I get my first drink. ^^

My knitting project is so close to being done. I love it despite my mistakes and am SO PROUD OF IT. I will post pictures upon completion.

And now bedtime! I love you all!

Several Things

On As the World Turns:
Yes, I am watching a soap opera. No I am not proud of it. It is an addiction, and perfect knitting television. And I love my boys. And I hate the new Lily. Van Hansis got a Daytime Emmy nomination! He should really be doing acting outside of daytime televsion.

On Neckties:
They better not be going out of style because they are incredibly sexy.

On Mills and Boon Cover Art:
I wanna go!

On Get Smart:
Yeah, The Rock is made of win.

On Iron Man:
We may have met Iron Man's new enemy. Holy crap I LOVE THAT MAN.

Be a bastard of yourself.
I need to change my layout. I love Bond. I always will. But I think it is time that our layout love affair ends. I'm sorry James. We'll always have that place in Russia.

I want my keyboard. I'm going to get one with a USB port so I can make music on the computer. I love the piano and I am so happy I decided to take that piano class. *musicgasm*

Today I'll finally be seeing Iron Man again. More geekery!

And despite all the crap going on at my house. I'm happy. Just really happy. And really lucky.

Holy crap. I am alone in my house. THIS NEVER HAPPENS. I took my Nana on an errand earlier, came back and played Zelda till it was time to take her to her PT appointment. And I don't have to pick her up.

THERE IS SILENCE! AHAHAHA!

This is happiness. Family out of the house. All of them.

Oi oi!
I OWE EVERYONE E-MAILS AND COMMENTS BUT IT IS TWO IN THE MORNING SO NOT NOW.

I'm really not sure what I did today. I cleaned, played Zelda for three hours, helped with dinner, and caught up with Luke & Noah on ATWT (OMGSTFUREALLYSHOW?!). And now it is two in the morning. I'm so confused...

Beyond losing time, I am throughly addicted to Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Finally. And outside forces are conspiring to make me read more Star Wars EU books. Which I have no problem with (though my wallet might have other opinions). I'm more amused at how it is coming from SEVERAL different sources. Sadly the only EU books I have are Betrayal and Splinter in the Mind's Eye. I have more but they are in storage.

In other happy news, I'm getting the baby grand piano. My mother was originally going to give it to my Uncle but has now decided against it since I've taken it up again. Someday when I get my own place I will have a baby grand piano. Seriously? That is so damn classy.

I have been dying to play the piano for several weeks now. Must. have. keyboard. Is it my b-day yet? xD I might have to pick up my guitar and play around on it to sate my musical craving. I could even play about on my twelve string. Or I could steal my sister's clarinet...

I want my keyboard. I really do.

Bedtime. I should be online and around tomorrow.

P.S.
[info]theo_winterwood - We must make a DCU fanvid to 'Teamwork'. There is no question about this. It must be done.

Yesterday's Stash
COMICS! (and I owe people comments and e-mails! Tomorrow is another day!)

I went in to my LCS (I almost typed LYS aka local yarn store) and all I really needed to buy was the new Robin. *hangs head* I could save a lot of money if I stopped picking up things I don't necessarily read.

Superman #676 - Dude, me reading a Superman title? Weird. Yeah, I know. I love Supes but I never felt the need to read any of his solo stuff. Though I do keep getting reminded to pick up Action Comics.

I picked up this title after seeing it on scans_daily. It was originally supposed to be in Superman Confidential. It's a flashback issue to Supes' first Memorial Day in Metropolis where he meets...ALAN SCOTT (Whom I love, with and sans eyepatch. Because seriously, wearing what Alan wears plus a eyepatch UNDER his eyemask. Badass man. Badass. Okay so this issue, eons before the eyepatch. I digress.) I really liked this issue. Go pick it up. It's the writer's first big title gig and I want to see more of his work. Look FACEBOOK GROUP, Vito's LJ POST ABOUT IT. The story is stand alone. The writing is solid. It is just good. Also, the art? I thought it was great. The cover is actually by Alex Ross. And really the cover should be reason enough to pick it up. (and then you'll read it and tell others to pick it up. Don't know where your local comic store is? Find out here.)

Robin #174 - I like Chris Batista's art. I really do but seriously...can Tim stop looking like [info]penguinbob. It's the hair. Really is. WHO IS THE SPOILER? - Spoilers )

Green Arrow and Black Canary #8 - ARGH. Why did I spend money on this?! WHY?! I think it was for the cover. I love the cover. The inside of the comic? Not so much. Winick just keeps failing. I hope he leaves the title soon (...please...) and we get a competent writer.

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull #1 of 2 - Oh hush. I'm a dork. The comic adaptation is alright. They changed random bits but the narration makes it sound all old school and pulpy. Just how I like it. I really want the Indiana Jones Omnibus for my birthday. And now that I think about it. I bought a whole Indiana Jones limited at my LCS and I HAVE NO IDEA WHERE IT IS. I'm also missing some other comics. Hmmm...time to go a-searching.

Next week:
FINAL CRISIS, BATMAN, BLUE BEETLE, GREEN LANTERN

Must go find a job. Must support addiction.

It's Jimmy Stewart's 100 birthday so TCM is having a block of his movies. I'm watching The Philadelphia Story.

1:30 The Glenn Miller Story
3:30 The Man Who Knew Too Much (which is amazing and if you have not seen it yet, you should)
5:45 Vertigo
8:00 Rear Window
10:00 The Man Who Shot Liberty Vance
12:30 Anatomy of a Murder

Also, it is highly amusing how my Nana keeps referring to my Granddad as my Dad and her father as my Granddad. Oi.

Saw Speed Racer last night with Jess, Alex, Dan and Jess' friend Rob. I loved the movie. It was really awesome. ^___^

So I'm watching The Mystery of Crystal Skulls on Scifi. Mostly because I do not feel like changing the channel.

So they were talking about the crystal skulls in popular culture...yeah they totally mentioned SG-1...except they called it SGA.

Knit, knit, knit.
