What a world, what a world

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/02/science/earth/02arct.html?_r=1&oref=slogin

If you aren't actively committed to reducing Global Warming now, you are contributing to the flooding of Wall Street in fifty years. Not to mention the place where I was born - Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn - and the town where I grew up, Merrick, Long Island (southern shore). And, by the way, I live in the state with the second-lowest highest point (Delaware) and my parents are planning to move to the state with the absolute lowest highest point (Florida - the highest point is on a golf course; yes, Moxy Fruvous got this one wrong). So, seriously, if you want me to be snorkeling when I show my grandkids where I used to get pizza, go on not caring.

Please, God... how long will it be before we take it seriously? We are faced with a choice between hardship upon hardship and utter catastrophe. The destruction we permit today will be my burden to bear when I am old and frail; but my conscience will not be troubled by a failure to act.

CONSERVE. Change your lifestyle now, while you still have a choice in the matter.

I made these in GIMP

I are learning how to make teh fotoshops. I use GIMP because it is free and that is a good price.

This was the only difficult one, because I had to do some serious erasing, which was fun. The rest did not involve any serious effort.

    Cat up for adoption

We took a cat in this weekend. She's awesome, and we'd totally keep her if we could. But, since we can't, she needs a home.

Picture can be found here: http://www.rachel-and-adam.com/gallery/Miscellaneous/DSCF1343

If you live in Binghamton, do not think you are out of range. We will be in Binghamton this weekend, and will have Luna with us.

    SOOO -

    Anyone want a beautiful Kitty????

    I killed E3

Check out this video from G4 about the Death of E3. As you may know, I attended E3 in 2005 and 2004 with my video-game-company-running friends, Jerry, Cris, and Dusty (AKA the D). Well, guess who shows up in G4's footage, waiting in line to get in? Us four - and I give the camera the thumbs up.

I captured some pictures. The quality is notsogood, because I had to turn up the gamma levels to see them clearly on my monitor at work. I also made icons for each of us four.

    WHOA NICE GRAPHICS!

When you watch this Legend of Zelda commercial from 1986, you may be persuaded to give up video games forever in shame. Seriously, if you love Legenda of Zelda (I certainly do), this commercial will forever embarass you. Just think - Nintendo made one of your favorite games, and thought this commercial would appeal to you. You are the target demographic this commercial was aimed at. You're supposed to identify with this.

Think about it. And feel the shame.

This is how it works: comment on this entry and I will give you a letter. Write ten words beginning with that letter in your journal, including an explanation of what the word means to you and why, and then pass out letters to those who want to play along.

This meme was brought to you by Ellie and the letter P.

    1. Politics - My current obsession. I can name every current senator and governor and tell you what state and party they're from, plus over 100 members of the House of Representatives (at least one in every state).

    2. Penny Arcade - I read Penny Aracde religiously. Even when I didn't own any video game consoles, I still read PA. I actually got to have lunch with their business manager, Robert Khoo, at E3.

    3. PvP - Another webcomic I read daily.

    4. Pizza - For several months, I ate it every day for lunch. Recently, I switched to roast beef sandwiches.

    5. Puppies - I go all to pieces for puppies and dogs in general. Sweet little guys!

    6. Paws - See above. Puppies have cute paws!

    7. Perfect Thyroid - An indie ska/funk band that used to play in Binghamton frequently. My first date with Rachel was a Perfect Thyroid show.

    8. Pixies, the - The foundation of grunge, 90's alt rock, and modern rock in general. How can one band be the inspiration for both Nirvana and Weezer? Listen, and you will come to understand.

    9. PS2 - that's what I play videogames on. Especially GTA, Katamari, and Square RPGs.

    10. Peanut Butter Cups - of the Reese's variety. My favorite snack. EVAR! Do not mess with my Reese's.

    Me 2, filters 0

I appear to have found a backdoor to get through the filter. WOOWOOWOO!

    Other news in my life:

    I found my cell phone.

The crew of players I roleplay with has increased by one. I now run GURPS for 3 people.

    Ginny is learning to "Heel".

I watched wrestlemania - fave matches were the ladder match, the hardcore match, the women's title match, and the (smackdown) world title match. I liked the storytelling (and video packages) for the (raw) WWE title match, but the match was pretty much as "eh" as I expected. Michaels/McMahon was better than I expected - good for a few laughs. The Booker/Boogeyman match sucked of course, but the skit before it was pretty funny. All in all, most of the crew were working pretty hard (except Torrie Wilson and whatshername), but the show overall was basically just average as Wrestlemanias go; Rey's win loses some of its impact because it was a 3-way match. This is probably a wasted paragraph considering I think all of none of you watch wrestling.

Passover's next week. Yay for Passover!

    Memity Meme

Random shuffle meme. Hit shuffle, say the questions, let the music magically tell your fortune. Or something. Gacked from Abbie. And instead of shuffle, I'll use my own personal Launchcast. Same thing, except I haven't necessarily heard all these songs before. The glory of Launch.

    1. How does the world see you? Pushin Forward Back, by Temple of the Dog. Perhaps a reference to me being a Progressive?
    2. Will I have a happy life? Guilty Conscience, by Eminem. Wha...? Hey, fuck you meme!
    3. What do my friends think of me? Out All Night, by the Pietasters. That was college. I've changed.
    4. Do people secretly lust after me? There You Go, by Johnny Cash. Well, can you blame them?
    5. How can I make myself happy? Trixie's Star, by Helium. Huh? Good thing I'm happy already.
    6. What should I do with my life? Spider, by They Might Be Giants (live version). "He is our hero."
    7. Will I ever have children? Just Like Frank, by Less Than Jake. I assume Frank also has/will have kids at some point.
    8. What is some good advice for me? Uh-Oh, Love Comes To Town, by Talking Heads. This advice is a little dated, I think.
    9. How will I be remembered? Fire/Sign, by Gossip. I think I'm more of an Earth Sign. BTW holy fuck that song rocks.
    10. What's my signature dancing song? Eric The Half A Bee, by Monty Python. I'm dancing in my seat right now. This is awesome.
    11. What's my current themesong? Only the Good Die Young, by Billy Joel. How very Long Island of me.
    12. What do others think is my current themesong? Fire and Rain, by Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees. This may be my rep as a very atmospheric GM.
    13. What shall they play at my funeral? Sugar We're Going Down, by Fall Out Boy. "I'm going down, down, six feet under the ground, and sugar, I'm going down swinging."
    14. What type of women/men do I like? Everybody Wants To Rule The World, by Tears for Fears. Nah, I don't go for megalomaniacs. But I *am* in love with a Princess.
    15. How's my love life? We Die Young, by Alice In Chains. This meme is bullshit.

    Greenland Glaciers Dumping More Ice

"Those faster-moving glaciers now dump in a year twice as much ice into the Atlantic as they did in 1996, researchers said Thursday."

"The most recent volume is more than 200 times the amount of fresh water used by Los Angeles in a year."

If you're planning to visit Tahiti at some point in your life, you may want to consider doing it sometime in the next two decades.

    Cartoon protesters storm diplomatic enclave

Am I the only person who read the headline and pictured pitchfork-wielding Smurfs, rock-throwing Flintstones, and the Mystery Machine smashing through the front gate, while Johnny Quest is screaming obscenities as he and Sailor Jupiter are beaten down by riot police? And meanwhile, sad and dejected Transformers drop their picket signs and hang their mechanical heads in shame as their peaceful protest is ignored by a media fixated on getting shots of Kidd Video, Quickdraw McGraw, and Lucy Van Pelt trying to torch the place. When you're envisioning Care Bears and the Getalong Gang dragging frightened diplomats through the streets to meet their fates at the hands of angry citizens of Duckberg, you know you've got a really weird imagination.

    Oh. Gosh. Not that.

Iran's gonna respond to cartoons about Mohammed with cartoons about the Holocaust! GEE GOSH! That'll show the West.

Yes, printing the same cartoons you've been printing for decades will really inflame us! Printing the same cartoons that have run many time in Italian and Greek papers will really show the West's hypocrisy. Printing offensive cartoons that make me angry is so much more daring than your previous soft-hearted tactics like taking hostages, funding terrorism, and openly calling for death to America and Israel. Forget blowing up airliners and trains! Cartoons will shake the West to. Its. Very. Core.

OH GOSH, IRAN, DON'T PRINT THEM MEAN & NASTY CARTOONS! AND DON'T THROW US IN THAT THERE BRIAR PATCH!

    Songs Meme

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to.

    1. Breed (Snake River Conspiracy)
    2. Who'd Stop The Rain (Dressy Bessy)
    3. Whiskey Tango (Tonya Donnelly)
    4. Gold Digger (Kanye West)
    5. Dance Dance (Fall Out Boy)
    6. Camel Lights (Snow Machine)
    7. Beverly Hills (Weezer)

7? I could list way more than that. Oh well, might as well adhere to the rules of the meme.

I will tag Rachel, Donna, Jerry, Cris, Abbie, Ellie, and Shell. And everyone else, but I'm in a rules following mood. Please don't think that my failure to tag you indicates a lack of interest on my part in your musical taste.
