[i]cotton_candy8 posting in [i]kidsinthehall: Scott on Celebracadabra

I found myself getting sucked into VH1's reality show Celebracadabra (airing on Much More Music, for us Canadians) and to my surprise, Scott appeared in an episode! It was the one where there are 4 contestants left, and they each perform a cabaret magic show. Scott was a guest in Lisa Ann Walter's routine. They didn't show him much because the focus was on the tricks she was performing, but he was playing a character so you heard him talking and doing his thing the whole time, even when the camera wasn't on him.

So that was a pleasant surprise!

[i]yendi: If it happened this weekend, I don't know about it.

Three days at Readercon, followed by a power outage when we got home, means I've been off the Internets since Friday morning. And likely won't really be on again until tomorrow. So if something happened, assume I'm unaware of it.

Apparently nobody on yahoo answers knows the answer. =(

Anyway, I'm about to dye some yarn at home but I ran out of white vinegar.

I have apple cider and rice vinegar at home. Will these work? I didn't know if the apple cider would affect the color any.

Anything else I can substitute the vinegar with?

[i]laughsquidfeen: A 3D Exploration of Picasso’s Guernica by Lene Gieseke

guest post by Aaron Muszalski

A 3D Exploration of Picasso's Guernica

Artist Lena Gieseke has created a haunting, meditative 3D exploration of Guernica - Pablo Picasso’s monumental 1937 painting in response to the Nazi bombing of Guernica during the Spanish civil war. Using Maya, Shake and Photoshop, Gieseke separated the individual elements of the mural, and then moved her 3D camera through the resulting tableau. The idea of using spatial immersion as a means to prompt deep contemplation of a painting was inspired by jigsaw puzzles:

The idea of creating a 3D version of an influential artwork came out of doing jigsaw puzzles of famous paintings. When you assemble a jigsaw, you study a painting in great detail and you become aware of the very lines, shapes and colors that the painting is composed of and how these elements merge to create a unified expression. Through the puzzle, you explore the artwork, examining details your eye might not have caught otherwise. Your experience of the painting is intense, aroused by the action of puzzling, but expanded and strengthened by your own fantasy.

[i]amizada posting in [i]knitting: Oh my...confused again!

I'm making a vest for my dad (Vest seen here just scroll down. It's the one in the pic called Hand-in-Hand Cable Sweaters) and have arrived at the V-neck shaping but I'm a little confused.

It says:

Working each side separately and cont armhole shaping, work dbl dec at each neck edge 2 times, then dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 16 times - 24 sts remain each side after neck and armhole shaping is complete.

Please explain to me like I'm 4. In my head it looks all wrong.

ETA: I understand what it says, But if I keep doing armhole shaping for that amount of rows won't it be too close in to the chest?
