Do you think JKR knows about this one? Graffiti from Pompeii: (taken from : http://www.personal.kent.edu/~bkharvey/roman/classes/graffiti.htm ) I.10.2-3 (Bar of Prima); 8258, 8259: The story of Successus, Severus and Iris is played out on the walls of a bar: [Severus]: “Successus, a weaver, loves the innkeeper’s slave girl named Iris. She, however, does not love him. Still, he begs her to have pity on him. His rival wrote this. Goodbye.”. [Answer by Successus]: “Envious one, why do you get in the way. Submit to a handsomer man and one who is being treated very wrongly and good looking.” [Answer by Severus]: “I have spoken. I have written all there is to say. You love Iris, but she does not love you.” |

Details Details... And what the ruddy hell are dementors?" "They guard the wizard prison, Azkaban" Two seconds' ringing silence followed these words and then Aunt Petunia clapped her hand over her mouth as if she had let slip a disgusting swear word -- Uncle Vernon was goggling at her. Harry's brain reeled. Mrs. Figg was one thing -- but Aunt Petunia? "How d'you know that?" he asked her, astonished. Aunt Petunia looked quite appalled with herself. She glanced at Uncle Vernon in fearful apology, then lowered her hand slightly to reveal her horsey teeth. "I heard -- that awful boy -- telling her about them -- years ago," she said jerkily. "If you mean my mum and dad then why don't you use their names," said Harry loudly, but Aunt Petunia ignored him. She seemed terribly flustered.
From Order of the Pheonix...
Sooo, children, why doesn't Petunia use their names? Could it be that she's met more than one horrible wizard? Hmmm? And just why is Snape's worst memory calling Lily a "mudblood".
