8:22 am - It's official...
|
The summer is over! Where ol' where has my warm weather gone? Time to put the camper away and head towards...ugh! I'm going to say it...Christmas! Okay--so you don't get all upset, Christmas is still my all time favorite holiday. It just costs LOTS of money!
But that's not what today's post is about...what day is it? The 1st of a new month? And I officially changed my latest obsession page...right on time! Imagine that. I swear I'll be late to my own funeral! So...enjoy!
http://rasey.brinkster.net/JustForFun.html
And don't forget to return in December to vote for the year's hottest! There will be a prize attached for....Christmas to one lucky person who votes!
So now we head towards (well before we hit Christmas) Halloween! I love spooky, scary haunted houses. So it's time for me to get out a map and start looking for some of the best in Ohio. One you can check out that is owned by good friends:
http://www.screamacres.com
They also have a corn maze and lots to do. If you are in the area...head early. The lines for the haunt are LONG!
Until next time...may the sun always shine!

9:09 am - Latest Obsession and vacation...
|
Hey, guys...
I know it's been awhile again. I just got back from vacation. We spent a week down by the river with no Internet connection. A very stress-free environment...which I was glad for.
My latest obsession is up. http://rasey.brinkster.net/JustForFun.html I had to guys...my all time favorite Andrei Arlovski made a repeat trip. Though it is his first time this year. Check out the new awesome picture posted from Sherdog.com.
Okay...it's off to work for me. The vacation is officially over. I hope you all have a great week!

7:50 am - New obsession...what happened to July?
|
Okay...there goes another month and I swear I had nothing to do with it. Lots of sun, vacation, hammocks...oh, and I forgot to post a new obsession. Well...that means June's Dan Henderson was two month worthy. Anyone want to tell this gorgeous hunk of man any different. Not me!
So on to August...yep, I posted a new one! So if you are curious to see who the next face on my space is...check out:
http://rasey.brinkster.net/JustForFun.html
As for what i have been up to...fine tuning LOVE YOU TO PIECES...and oh, I wrote the prologue to my latest WIP. But hey, that one has to wait. Time to finish LOVE and get that one out there.
Have a great week!

A celebration...and sadness...
Today I celebrate the completion on LOVE YOU TO PIECES. Yep...finally it's finished. I won't even go into how long it took me to get to 'The End.' I just hope the sweat, blood, and tears of time is worth it and it's the best thing I have written. So cheers...I raise my glass in a toast with...you...all my friends on the Internet.
And with all good things, sometimes comes sadness. Unfortunately in life we must rise above the bad times or they will swallow us whole. About a month ago, I lost a childhood friend. It was hard saying goodbye, but as we walked past his casket for the final time, a picture sat on top. He stood with a huge smile on his face, waving at us. That picture placed a smile on my face, too, as I know he's in a better place.
Two days ago, I was forced to say goodbye yet to another friend. This one lost his life in a tragic motorcycle accident at the young age of thirty-six. He was not only a friend but a karate student of years ago...another friend who always seemed to make me smile.
I'll miss them both and dedicate this book's finishing in loving memory of them both. God bless you, Tim and John, may you rest with angels.

June's Obsession...
Well...only three days into the month and I am posting my latest obsession on my Just for Fun page. Check out UFC fighter Dan Henderson...absolutely yummy! He's all man, ladies! So if you have a spare few minutes, gander on over.
On the bright side of things...okay, I know it's hard to follow up Dan Henderson, but I am nearly done with LOVE YOU TO PIECES. Yep...last chapter and an epilogue and this one is history. It's been a long time in coming. Call this one my 'hard times' book. It's seen me through a lot of rough patches in the road. But...no excuses...it WILL be finished.
Sorry that I have been so absent--lot's of issues on the day job. Stress levels have been at an all time high...thank the good Lord for the camper. It's a place for me to kick back and relax...and take my laptop. On the bright side--no Internet, meaning no distractions to the writing. On the downside--less online time for me this summer. But I do hope to drop in as often as I can.
Enjoy the summer...and ladies, may I say enjoy Dan! When, going to get my drool rag out!

http://rasey.brinkster.net/JustForFun.html
See who is tripping my trigger this month! I Know I haven't posted in a while again, and I apologize. Seems like I do a lot of that lately...so let's just move on. Hopefully I can kick that writing butt in gear and get this book done...soon!
Have a great week!

10:08 am - Being sick...
|
It's no fun being sick. I think I just officially had the worst flu ever. It lasted a week and I couldn't do much--couldn't get off the couch, let alone look at a computer screen. So, I let everything slide...including my promise for a new latest obsession! Ugh! Way to go, me!
With that said, Stefan gets a second month on the page and I promise...new obsession comes in April.
Here's hoping that none of you get what I had. Now...I officially need to get back to work writing. No more fooling around.
And Jim Hansen...if you are reading this? I have Ancient Laws about 1/2 read and I promise to get it finished and that quote to you. I am loving it! Awesome job as always.
Have a great week!

|
I've had a Latest Obsession page on my site for some time. I change it...oh...every so often. Okay...not nearly soon enough. So, what I have decided to do is change it monthly. I'll try to commit to this...ugh...a comitment from me?
Anyway...go check out March's latest obsession before March is over and I find a new man to grace the page. You can find it by going to: My Just for Fun Page.
This month's attraction: Stefan Koegel...so go check out what all the fuss is about. I plan to do a 'Past Obsession's' page so you can always go view the ones you may have missed. Give me a few days...weeks ;-) to get that page up and running. So as for now...check out March!
May my page give you a smile...

8:37 am - Valentine's Day...and dentists...
|
I wanted to wish you all the best Valentine's Day the world has to offer. You don't have to be married, you don't have to even have a honey...treat yourself to CHOCOLATE!! It's the one day we can all say the heck with diets and give ourselves the okay to indulge. And maybe go see a movie. The next movie I plan to see is FOOL'S GOLD! Looks like a fun one. We were supposed to go last night...but the great Ohio weather threw us a curve...so we stayed home and watched American Idol.
So have some chocolate, watch a movie...and don't forget the glass of wine. Me? My honey wants to go look for a new truck...in the snow, mind you. But hey, we will go out for supper...so no cooking.
Now what does the dentist have to do with all of this. Nothing, actually. But I had to share my day yesterday. While Ohio decided to dump more snow on me, I had a lot of errands to do on my day off. Figures..I couldn't get to my writing. Anyway, I had a teeth cleaning. Anyone but me hate dentists? Not the actual nice man behind the mask...but the fact they are grinding on your teeth. "Hey, bub...they are real, they are sensitive...and that HURTS!" Yeah, that's what I am talking about.
Anyway--I do have sensitive teeth and I hate the cleanings. They spray that ice cold water in your mouth (more specifically aimed at your gums) and ZING...right through the roof. So I arrive at the dentist yesterday and I have a seat and the hygienist asks me if I would like a complimentary hand massage while I get my teeth cleaned. I'm thinking, huh? But hey, what the heck. Then she starts the back vibration on the chair and I get a nice massage while she's cleaning away. I tell you--with the hand massage and the back vibration, what a pleasant trip.
My point? Hey, dentists...listen up. Perfect way to make your client comfortable...a hand and back massage. Now I might not mind at all going back in six months for that next check up.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!! Now go get that CHOCOLATE!
Hugs--
Patricia

2007....and into 2008
Boy...it's been a long time since I visited my journal. I need to update my blog and website.
Wow...can you believe 2007 is over and gone. I promised to post a blog and update you all what's been going on in my life. But then I sit here and think...Boring.
Anyway, 2007 saw me hiding from the Internet and the computer as I worked 40 hours a week and took care of my parents and family. High stress, so we bought a camper to sit by the river so we can have some place to kick back and chill and let the week roll off our shoulders. And most recently we found out that Dad has cancer. I thought, okay...this poor man had double knee surgery, had a mild stroke, and then lost his leg. What's next? But like everything else...we look forward and keep a positive attitude. So...enough about 2007 and onto 2008!
Here's hoping for all of us to have the best year ever. I'm three chapters away from getting LOVE YOU TO PIECES done...the book I've been writing for like ever. But we've almost got it done and I'm really ready to move on to the next. What's next, you ask?
Could it be Damien Vincent from DEADLY OBSESSION and THE HOUR BEFORE DAWN? Do I finally give him a break and his own story? Or is it time to revisit FACADE? KC and Shar haven't yet had closure and the sequel to that book will also be the sequel to LOVE YOU TO PIECES. These two books will collide. Or maybe it's a visit back to the bikers and we see where Snake, Villain are at and what Psyche and Tony are up to...possible no good. Or does Tony redeem himself?
Only time will tell...but first, it's time to wrap up LOVE YOU TO PIECES. I'm pretty excited about this book...let's hope the wait is worth it.
New Year's resolution? Anyone have one? How is the progress going? Mine was to get back to exercising and shed those Christmas pounds. I'm still working on that.
Until next time, may the sun shine on your side of the world. It's shining here...but it's frigid cold.

12:03 pm - Latest Obsession and WIP...
|
I sat down, realizing how much I have neglected the computer, my website, and emails. I have a tendency lately to hide from the net. Hmmm...should I seek counseling?
Anyway, I finally updated my email address on my webpage http://www.patriciarasey.com . So if you have been trying to get a hold of me and my email address didn't work...it does now. So please--email me and I promise to not try to neglect the computer so much.
Latest obsession? Well...anyone who's been to my page before knows how I like men. I haven't posted a new pic in quite awhile. Colin Farrell was dominating. Blame it on my WIP. Anyway--while updating my web, I was inspired to also change my Just For Fun page and put my latest obsession pic up. Check out Niko: http://rasey.brinkster.net/JustForFun.html . If you don't know who he is, check out his my space page: http://www.myspace.com/178131977 . You won't be disappointed. Give the man his due...he's definitely sizzling.
Know someone obsession worthy--do tell! Email me.
Speaking of latest...for those wondering, LOVE YOU TO PIECES is 20,000 words from completion. If I can just glue my butt to this chair. Speaking of, I best head off, eat some lunch and get to typing.
Have a great day and enjoy Niko! Patricia

Working out and getting older... I started at the gym a year ago...working out, well, fairly hard and what have I lost? Nada! Nothing! Okay, they say muscle weighs more than fat...but I think I can use that excuse only so much. But the arms are getting firmer, as are the legs and rear...but that mid-section? Did I ever have abs?
So I am buying lots of mags...my favorite being Oxygen. I think I may have to order that one. Lots of great eating/working out tips. I can do the working out, but I sort of suck at the eating. Why? Because I have no will power. When someone asks: ice cream? I am running for the line. Okay, maybe that's a gross exaggeration, but I do like an occasional ice cream. And working with miss skinny mini Beth who weighs like 80 pounds and eats all day long doesn't help. Cheryl and I try very hard at work to eat right and Beth comes along and says, "How about Taco Bell?" You ever have those Steak Taquitos? Yeah...me neither. But you have to get the sour cream to dip them in.
Usually, Cheryl and I do all right most days...but Burger King came out with these BK Iced Mocha Joes...is it bad when you pull up to the window and the lady waiting on you knows you? Or worse yet...says, "See you tomorrow." *sigh* No will power, I tell you. Guess that means I have to keep sticking to the gym?drinking one of those means I'll have to jog another 43 minutes.
Yep?recently I started running. I look at my 20 year old son who is stick thin and 6'4" and he runs. I'm thinking all runners are skinny...right? So I started running...on the treadmill anyway. And guess what...I like it. I have really found something I can do and not mind. I don't mind the weights either...but the elliptical machines...hate them! So, I'm thinking here's my fast track to skinny again, right? Then I read this article in Muscle Fitness about getting older and how it takes you twice as long to burn fat in the gym that it did when you were younger.
*sigh* Welcome to the 40's...
Have a great day...I think I better head for the gym. I might be there for awhile.

FAQ: author Michele Bardsley
This week I'm showcasing Michele Bardsley's http://www.michelebardsley.com work. Michele and I go a long ways back and had loads of fun sharing rooms at various writing conferences. I can't begin to tell you the fun we had. I think she now has learned which side of the coffee cup goes up...I'm still using my coffee cup at work everyday, Michele. She's a fantastic author...so check her out!
1: Michele, you are an inspiration to small press authors. You started with a smaller press, tell us how you got started and how you got your big break to NY?
I sold my first novel to Hard Shell Word Factory in 1998. So yeah, I've been in the small press world for almost ten years. My big break came as a result of winning the Grand Prize in the 72nd Annual Writer's Digest writing competition. I got a trip to New York City where I met my current agent, Stephanie Kip Rostan, with the Levine Greenberg Literary Agency. About four months later, she sold a novel for me: CUPID, INC. As of this month, I have six books available or coming out from New American Library, four of which are about my paranormal PTA parents.
2: You are a mother of two adorable kids...how do you balance your day?
They're adorable when they're sleeping. LOL. I don't balance my day. I survive it. We don't have specific routines. My family comes first and then I write as much as I can when I can.
3: I am a huge fan of your work...no surprise there. You write in different genres. What is your favorite?
What a coincidence! I'm a fan of your work, too! Right now, I'm really in love with paranormal romance. I write a lot of erotica short stories and novellas for e-publishers and nearly all of them have paranormal or fantasy elements. But I think my favorite are my vampire moms who live and work in the fictional small town of Broken Heart, OK.
4: Think about your latest book...do real life people inspire your characters?
I think every writer is influenced by the people around them -- friends and foes. One of the characters in my next vampire mom book is a busybody who will be brutally murdered. She was inspired a woman at the post office who was a tattle-tale. Seriously. She was like 50 years old. Grow up already.
I'm also influenced by people I adore. In I'M THE VAMPIRE, THAT'S WHY, I named my lead character after my awesome publicist, Jessica Growette. Jessica Matthews is the same kind of mixture of tough and compassionate as real-life Jessica. And in DON'T TALK BACK TO YOUR VAMPIRE, I named my lead character after one my good friends, Evangeline Anderson. The theme of that book is forgiveness and Evangeline has taught me a lot about letting go of hurt and anger. She always says that life is too short. I agree. I think we are meant to be happy.
5: What's out now? What's coming out next? And what are you working on?
The next story in my vampire mom series, DON'T TALK BACK TO YOUR VAMPIRE, comes out on July 3, 2007. FANTASYLAND hits shelves in November. I have titles coming out from Changeling Press and Ellora's Cave throughout the year, too.
I invite everyone to visit MicheleBardsley.com (which is currently under construction) and BrokenHeartOK.com. Thanks so much Patricia. I really appreciate the opportunity to talk about my work to your readers.
And thank you for taking the time out of your bust schedule, Michele! Until next time...

Attention authors....
Since this idea of mine to help showcase your work came to fruitation...it's gotten a REAL slow start. I had a few people in mind to showcase first, but I hadn't heard back from them...so, here's a list of questions. Copy and paste them into a message to me (parasey@embarqmail.com) and I'll post your answers and links here. One every other week. That's two weeks of free, no strings attached, promo for your work. Seriously? No strings attached? Nope...not a one. I believe in helping others and the word of mouth promotion...so, send me the answers to your questions and I'll post you here.
1: Let's go back to the day you got 'that' call...what did you do to celebrate the sale of your book?
(aspiring authors change this question to: So you chose to be a writer?when did you first get the revelation and what motivates you to keep writing?)
2: Look around you and tell us what your office space looks like...what do you treasure, are you neat, large space, what do you nibble on?
3: Tell us what genre you write and what made you want to write what you do?
4: What are you writing now?
5: Your time to shine?tell us about your latest release and where can we purchase this? Don't forget to include a link to your website!
(aspiring authors change this question to: Where can we view samples of your work? Don't forget to include a link to your website!)
Have a great day!

I know I haven't been around as of late...been pretty busy at work. Not exactly writing, but hopefully I'll get this one done soon...only 20K to go. I wanted to take a second to wish all the mother's out there a very HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY! I hope you are all taking it easy.
Me? I get the trip of a lifetime for Mother's Day...I'm going on the Hammer Cruise http://www.hammercruise.bizhosting.com next Saturday...looking forward to that. I can't wait...so in honor of one of my fab groups, I put their music back on my page. If you already got your tickets...see you there!
And finally...a shout out to my boss...Tim...who's gonna win the UFC fight between Liddell vs Jackson? I'll be looking forward to coming to your comedy club on you.
As for the author section of my blog...unfortunately, I'm not getting my answers back from some authors I invited. So...look for a post in a couple of weeks. I have an idea to rectify that and get this up and running to help promote you...my friends.
Okay--I'm off. I have to go Kentucky twice this week. Once for work and once for jammin'! Have a great week!

6:29 pm - Sale...we all love sales...(adult content)
|
We all love a good sale...don't we? Well this sale involves not one, but two of my books. Not sure if you wanted to give my work a shot? How about getting a great break on the price when you buy two? My publisher has decided to offer my books: KISS OF DECEIT and EYES OF BETRAYAL as a combo pack and shave yet more off the price of the books! What a deal! Am I sounding like a salesman yet? Of course these are the electronic versions...but where can you get two reads for such a low price? You can read them on your computer, print them out, read them on your PDA, laptop, or electronic reader...your choice...but still one heck of a deal.
Check it out: http://amberquill.com/SalePax_KissDeceit_EyesBetrayal.html
Shall I sweeten the pot? How about you buy the AmberSalePax and send me (patriciarasey@embarqmail.com) a confirmation of that purchase and I'll send you a free emailed copy of Sanitarium...my vampire novella no longer available. You can't get it anywhere else...but from me. How sweet is that?
And to maybe help sway your decision...here's an excerpt from KISS OF DECEIT:
Snake Gallego had been wrong. There lay passion beneath the stiff exterior of Detective LeAnne McVeigh, but words could not describe the fire and magnetism between them. He had followed her, angry at her parting words.
Damn her for not understanding, damn her for not caring.
His wife lay in her grave, a mere fifty feet away, and here the sweet detective was, making him forget.
But he was a man of passion, a man with needs. Debra Lewis had been his only affair before or after Jillian met her fate, and he had regretted that--every last minute.
Now, here he was again, desiring a woman who belonged to another. And he had no doubt that if he bedded LeAnne McVeigh, the good Prosecutor Baker would make him regret ever laying a hand on her. His life would probably become a living hell. But what else in the last three months had he to live for?
Screw ethics.
He moved his hand down her back and cupped the soft cheek of her derriere. A perfect fit. He felt the sudden apprehension in her kiss, but he used his skilled tongue to coax her, soothe any misgivings she might have.
He left her mouth, his lips making a trek to her ear. Her breath came in short pants; her head tilted to the side. A soft moan escaped her lips.
"We shouldn't..." she whispered. "The caretaker..."
"Can watch," he said huskily before dipping his tongue into her ear.
She trembled beneath his touch. "We can't," she said, though her fingers tangled in the hair at the base of his head, telling Snake a different story.
"We can." He nipped at her earlobe and the small silver hoop hanging there.
"Chad."
"Screw him."
Her body tensed, causing him to sense her withdrawal.
Removing his hand from her backside, he slipped it beneath the short skirt and silk panties, cupping her bare flesh. Her intake was sharp but she did not move from his embrace as her eyes met his.
His fingers kneaded the soft skin.
"Don't," she whispered.
He knew when to back off and he was not far from it. Yet he could not resist the urge to push the boundaries. "You want me as much as I do you." He glared at her. "Deny it."
She pushed at his chest. "You're so full of yourself, Gallego."
He tightened his hold on the small of her back and held her firmly against his pulsing erection. "Deny it," he ordered.
When she did not, he moved his hand lower and dipped into the cleft of her thighs, feeling how close to the truth he was. Her eyes widened and her pulse beat heavily at the base of her throat. Snake grinned, then pulled his hand from her.
"Deny it. You're so wet--"
"Damn you, Snake," she spat, pushing herself from his embrace and stepping back a few steps.
With her kiss-reddened lips and mussed hair, she looked like she had just stepped from the sack. Too bad it wasn't his. The nearly painful ache in his groin told him just how much he regretted the sudden separation. There would be no soothing his ache today--maybe never.
She smoothed back the hair slipping from her braid. "You're such an egotist. You wouldn't know how to seduce a woman if you tried."
"I don't think I was doing such a bad job a minute ago."
"Shows how little you know."
His ire peaked. He raised one brow. "Care for me to prove that fact to you again?"
"Go to hell."
"I'm already there, sweetheart." When she turned to stomp off in the other direction, he asked, "Where the hell do you think you're going?"
"I need someone to bring my car."
"I can give you a ride back." At the incredulous look she gave him, he held his hands up in front of him. "No funny stuff."
She looked at him like he had grown two heads, then laughed. "You already broke that promise."
***
Want to see where this leads Snake and LeAnne? Go to: http://amberquill.com/SalePax_KissDeceit_EyesBetrayal.html and purchase your copy today! Don't forget to email me for that bonus!
Okay...commercial over. You are being returned to your regularly scheduled program, which will be played in its entirety. Sorry for the interruption...

7:54 pm - Did I drop the ball...
|
Well, I know my last post was some time ago and I do promise a new author coming soon. So make sure you stay tuned. I have sent off the questions to the next author and will post them as soon as they come back.
So what's been going on in the Rasey household...let's just say it's been an interesting ride. But I do hope to try and get back to the grindstone. At least there is forward movement on the book. That's a good thing. Seems like it has been..:-)....okay, it HAS been forever since I started this thing. Let's just hope the book is better for it. I've learned, I've tightened, and I hope my writing has vastly improved.
My good friend, Sue Charnley, and I have been told our proposal for a workshop has been accepted. We're pretty excited about that. We'll be giving it next fall. Long way off? Don't blink! It seems that time flies the older you get. That and gravity sets in....we won't even go into what happens to the body. I guess all we can do is look in the mirror as little as possible, dance around the house (not nekkid , of course...see my comment on gravity), and enjoy life. Because life is way too short to sweat the small stuff! Which brings me to my close as Cyndi Lauper's song goes...Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun! Yeah...I am a product of the 80's. :-o
Have a great day! Patricia

11:21 am - FAQ: Author Lara Adrian
|
As promised...here is my first installment of promoting those authors (and aspiring authors) who have friended me.
Author Lara Adrian and I go way back to a day long ago where we huddled on chairs next to each other at our first ever writing conference waiting to read our unpublished work in front of an editor. I was an instant fan of Lara's work...and I still read everything she has ever written. So without further ado, I give you five fast questions which Lara has graciously taken the time from her busy schedule to answer.
1: Let's go back to the day you got 'that' call...what did you do to celebrate the sale of your book?
I was actually at the hair salon when the first offer came in for Kiss of Midnight. My agent had submitted the manuscript to several houses, and this offer arrived only the day after we sent it out! More interest followed from other houses, and my agent told everyone to come back in a week so we could firm things up. I got home and finished making cheesecakes I'd promised for a neighborhood party my husband and I were attending that night, then I spent the whole evening in a state of anxious limbo--excited, nervous, etc. It was a great night!
2: Look around you and tell us what your office space looks like...what do you treasure, are you neat, large space, what do you nibble on?
The den of our condo is my dedicated office space. The colors are primarily deep red and a wheaty-gold, with your basic desk, file cabinet (armoire style), and bookcases lining almost every wall. My desk is usually cluttered with things I need for my ms in progress, several pens, a dictionary, to-do lists, etc. Sometimes there's a big gray-and-white tuxedo cat sprawled on top of everything, too. His name is Sam, and he can't understand why I'd want to stare at a computer screen when I could be admiring him. :)
As for nibbling, that's not really one of my vices. I drink a lot of water (and coffee, and sometimes Red Bull!) but no habitual nibbles. However, I wouldn't turn down Lindt chocolates if they were nearby . . .
3: You used to write in another genre, what brought you over to the dark side and how has the transition been?
The first manuscript I ever wrote happened to be a medieval romance. I was really fortunate that it sold in 1999 to Ballantine. It was part of a two-book contract, so I wrote another one. Next thing I knew, I had become a medieval romance author! I enjoyed writing historicals, but my interests have always been varied and I'm very much a contemporary girl at heart. When the time came for me to branch out with something new, it seemed very natural for me to write something set in present day. I grew up reading Stephen King, Dean Koontz, John Saul, Anne Rice, etc., so making the transition to dark paranormals has been great! I've never had so much fun with my writing!
4: Your first book in this series comes out in May, tell us what you do to get ready for the release?
The biggest thing I've done--aside from maintaining my focus on the book I'm writing now, which is due to my editor in May!--is send out ARCs for review. I believe the best way to promote is to let the book do the work. I do have bookmarks for both titles, and soon I'll be rolling out a brand-new website at www.LaraAdrian.com. Other than that, I'm trying not to think about the May 1 release date! To say nothing of the May 29 release date for the second book in the series, Kiss of Crimson! The back-to-back release program isn't something I've been part of before, so it's nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time.
5: I've been reading about Lucan...tell us who he most looks like in Hollywood? What about Gabrielle?
It's hard to choose a celebrity lookalike for my characters. I see them clearly in my mind, but I've yet to find someone who's a dead ringer for how I picture them. Lucan is about six-and-a-half feet tall, with glossy jet black hair and sharp, lean facial features. He's a first generation Breed vampire, so his skin has a spectacular array of "dermaglyphs"--tattoo-like markings that all Breed vampires are born with to differing degrees and saturations. Gen Ones like Lucan are rare, and they have the most remarkable glyphs.
As for ginger-haired Gabrielle, she's trim and active--an art photographer who takes pictures of abandoned (so she thinks!) places. She's independent, adventurous and brave, rather like Jennifer Garner's "Sydney Bristow" character in ALIAS--without all the costume changes and spy apparatus. ;-) But Gabrielle has always been something of a misfit in her life. She doesn't fully understand why until she meets Lucan and learns about the secret realm of the Breed.
And lastly...tell us a little about the release and what we can expect in the future from Lara Adrian.
Kiss of Midnight is the first of the Midnight Breed series, releasing on May 1st. Immediately following it will be Kiss of Crimson, which hits stores on May 29th as a June release. I'm working on the third book, Midnight Awakening, which has been slated as a December release. I also just signed on for three more Midnight Breed novels after that, which probably takes me well into 2009!

Thanks, Lara! I appreciate you taking the time from your deadline to answer my questions. Let me just say...I had the pleasure of reading KISS OF MIDNIGHT already and it is a very compelling, well-written book. So come May 1st...if you like vampires and even if you don't, go check out Lara's work. She's an awesome talent. Until next time... Patricia
