I am so tired.
Process blog coding and the Great Isticus Overallhaul has me sleeping quite late in the evening. Was going to leave a tad early today but of course the sky decides to open and pee on Pittsburgh.
I want to steal one of the oversized bean bags and drag it into one of the user testing rooms for a nap...

Today I woke up early to run errands, made a delicious soup, and gave myself a pedicure while watching a dog show. Now I am eating dinner comprised of a salad made with baby lettuces, chicken apple sausage, cucumbers, with a fig vinaigrette, the soup I made, toasted french baguette with goat cheese spread, and some wine. Oh, and watching the latest Top Gear.
I think I've jumped to my 40s. Let's do some jagerbombs, somebody.

Butters and I got into an accident last week. A car hit us. He went to the bike hospital, I drank a lot of vodka lemonade.
But now all is well. I've been riding home every afternoon to feed eero. My skin turning into a toasty shade. Looks like I am no longer highly eligible for marriage anymore.

Colby got jealous, so he scratched it already. Poot, oh well. I wanted to repaint it anyway. Mmm... satin grey

Dylan to Headline Music Fest at Southside Works
Featuring Bob Dylan and His Band, The Raconteurs, Gnarls Barkley, The Roots, Spoon, The Black Keys, Black Mountain, The Duke Spirit, NASA, and Tiny Masters of Today, organized by Anthony Kiedis. That lineup is meant for one person. Too bad he's no longer in my life.

It is done. I have finished my undergraduate career at Carnegie Mellon University.
FInished our last studio presentation, went to get some pitchers of Yeungling at PHI Bar, then went to Girasole and had yummy polenta with mimosas. A great end.
I helped make the Senior Slideshow/Superlatives. If you want to take a look
Also won an award for being not a failure at the design thing. Should I spend it on quadruple-processing my hair back to purple or buy a bag?

Today I went to get my passport renewed. The civil servant hesitantly accepts my photo, saying that they may not accept it because it is printed on matte photo paper (nowhere does it say it does not accept matte photo paper -- only photo quality paper). I haul ass to get the same photos reprinted with glossy stock and head back to the post office 15mins before they close. The same civil servant says "oh, I already sealed the envelope for the day" and then begins to say they cannot accept these glossy images because "the back isn't smooth like the kind you get at CVS".
Seriously, what?

I am alive, I promise.
Last carnival of my college career, and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
 Leica M6, 50mm Noctilux lens
Been photographing goth clubs with the Leica. It's phenomenal what film can do that digital can't. Starting to become more comfortable shooting strangers. I don't really want to be "that person"... you know what I mean.
Getting some ho-hum freelance through the door. New freelance opportunity sounds really fun and creative and more along the lines of what I like to do. Pipedreams are ablaze since graduation is happening soon -- I think I am going through a quarter life crisis. But the pieces are falling into place. Now if only I can find that perfect corgi to share my life with.

I am employed.
I have been asked to consider the possibility of being in a performance. I am unsure. Perhaps if I lose a few more pounds and decide that I won't ever run for public office.
Somehow my image has made it into a student's photographic body of work in Philly without me knowing it. Dracula's Ball, go figure.
I did a photo assignment recently about some of the gawthy stuff I've amassed over the years. It's quite revealing as to how much lame crap I have and should probably get rid of, but it's also interesting to see my life's progression through these retained artifacts.

I feel dissonance.
For my color photo class, I am trying to establish some parameters to work in for my photo exercises. I just happen to want to work with abstract themes of goth and gothic. A part of me is rolling my eyes, dismissing it as stereotypical art school bullshit, but the other part of me is interested in trying to tackle an aspect of my life that has been with me for a long time.
But why?
Why as a design student does it feel more acceptable to look at form, pattern, repetition, in a cold calculating German photographic style? I'm sick of looking at repetitive pictures of inanimate objects, light posts in empty parking lots, strict compositions, clever stylings.
I want humanity. I want imperfection. I want to question fantasy, industry, and mourning. I want to embrace the the decadence, the heresy, and the estheticism of this culture.
Why do I feel so ashamed?

(Just let it wait to load b/c it's 1.5mb-- this site is actually a quick mockup that I needed for Monday so I didn't put in a preloader. Andddd... when you get to the inital page just click on the angels not any of the links that come out of them. There are some bugz)
So all in all, one 4 color screenprinted job, 4 containers, 9 marketing cards, and 1 website. I hope I can get a jorb (but probably not since I failed my stats exam :[ )

I am listening to Marilyn Manson's Antichrist Superstar on some sort of internet radio station, lying in the bed that I have occupied since I was a child in my parents' home. I remember falling asleep listening to this very album as a fifth grader, in a Sony Diskman, on repeat for the entire night -- the cricket sounds at the end of Man that You Fear are so eerily familiar and comfortable.

2 more days left in Chicago. Last night at NEO was kind of hilarious and crazy. The beatz weren't that hard (or heavy) but they did play a pretty good mix of the Faint's Conductor and Joy to the World by Combichrist, which fit ironically since we were celebrating my departure from Morningstar. Lot of drinks were consumed, lots of pictures were taken. I am excited and frightened to go through them.
Today is back to Morningstar to finish last minute work before they disconnect my security clearances (like they did yesterday - wtf?) and packing... waa.
Tomorrow is haircut and (hopefully) dinner with friendlings. I will miss Mike, Matt and Johnny. They are sweet dudes.
And, yes I have blogged this on my livejournal. *shakes fist*

I am sitting at my desk at Morningstar. It is 12:50am Sunday morning. They have turned off the lights, so I am depending on the light from my monitor to read my written drafts of work. Mogwai is playing eerie from my headphones, which I have taken off to relieve my ears of the pressure. The silence otherwise is spongey. In a distance, I can hear the L trains rumbling by, 8 floors below where I currently sit.
I am kind of a loser. Three cheers.

Chick Sexing
Really good designers are like chicken sexers. In order to become a chicken sexer you have to work with a trained chicken sexer since there is no scientific way of determining the sex of a chicken. So you have to watch them say the sex of the chicken over and over before you start to see the sexes of the chickens yourself. (Paraphrased from Jared Spool)

Summer's almost over, and soon I'll be heading back to Pittsburgh for my final year of undergraduate education. Chicago has gotten much much much better in the last month or so alone just by making some sweet friends. If I didn't randomly talk to Michal and got to know Matt, Johnny, and Alex through him I think I would have summed up my outside-of-work summer experience to be rather boring and lonely.
The Morningstar experience has been very good to me so far. I've been thrown off a cliff to learn Flash to some bastardized compentency but that's the best way that I learn so I'm at least thankful there are people around for me to bug with questions. I do wish I did a little bit more work in my natural element (web/print stuff) but Jason is patient and a good teacher and a thorough explainer without being too overbearing and lets me work on my own accord - kind of wish school was like this! I will be sad to leave this city with all of the people I've met but it'll happen I guess.
Got a new camera. Pictures up soon - 40% are badly lit photos taken in some degree of intoxication. Yay.
p.s. CTA I still hate you. What is up with the chinese water torture on my morning commute? GUH.

Yesterday I had a fever that reached up to 102F. It kind of sucked. I was fully clothed under covers and couldn't stop shivering and twitching.
I woke up today at 11am and felt miraculously healthy after a terrible night of cold sweats, water gulping, and Tylenol overdosing.... so I decided to bike to work and then bike in Critical Mass. CM was really fun. About/over 1000 people in attendance, and about 70% of them were hotties. So that means 700 hotties in a mile long trail of bikers. A W E S O M E.
So I rode for about 5 hrs today... pretty sweet considering 24 hours ago I was near praying for death.
Justin got an iphone. I am looking forward to going to SF to play with it, make fun of him for completing his circle of douchebaggery, and secretly plan his accidental demise.
( Look how awesome my portfolio site looks on the iphone browser! )

The Everything Test There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all. Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-) | Personality | You are more emotional than logical, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more dependent than loner, more lazy than workaholic, more rebel than traditional, more artistic mind than engineering mind, more idealist than cynical, more leader than follower, and more extroverted than introverted.
As for specific personality traits, you are innovative (79%), adventurous (69%), slutty (65%), artistic (64%). | | | Stereotypes | | Punk Rock | 87% | | Geek | 65% | | Prep | 62% | | | | Life Experience | | Sex | 50% | | Substances | 46% | | Travel | 21% | | Politics Your political views would best be described as Liberal, whom you agree with around 57% of the time. | | Socioeconomic Your attitude toward life best associates you with Upper Class. You make more than 50% of those who have taken this test, and 68% less than the U.S. average. | If your life was a movie, it would be rated R. By the way, your hottness rank is 67%, hotter than 72% of other test takers. | TAKE THE TEST brought to you by thatsurveysite
