| Folklore/Folksoul: Keats |
[09 Sep 2007|12:53pm] |
Got to LOL at myself for liking him instantly because of the visual resemblance to Otacon -- his hair and glasses (they're the most prominent feature of his face in a lot of the art I've seen so far). His clothing has nerdy elements too: white shirt with a huge-almost-foppy-collar, vest that seems a bit short for his torso, sloppily-tied tie. <3 I'm glad his nose is very different; I need something on that face to disassociate one chara from the other. >D It might be hard to see in that video, but Keats's nose is narrower, more of a ski jump.
Character: Does not strike me as similar in any way to the Romantic poet, but what can promo material reveal, really? Even though he's able see Folks and also use their power, he seems to stubbornly maintain a pragmatist point of view. I wonder how long that lasts in the story, since Folks powers change his actual body (whereas Ellen changes outfits).
Movement: I didn't mention that Keats also wears a trench coat. My favorite moment in the vid I linked is when it flies off his body, actually. Not that I hate it. It does a proper job of doing that trench coat-y flare as Keats runs. I like his hunched-over feral posture best, though, and he doesn't just do it when he transcends. >D Keats is like the best of both worlds -- he's a bit nerdy but also a fighter/brawler. >DDDD

| a post with music videos in |
[08 Sep 2007|12:44pm] |
My dear flist, I know I rarely post, but a memory of a music video has taken over my head, and I have no idea who the artist is or what the title of the song is. O_O; All I remember is people (members of the band maybe?) walking down a runway or at a club, and they're tearing off slabs of flesh in the same manner as strippers taking off their clothes. If it can be found on Youtube, a link-to would be much appreciated. I'd very much like to see it again. ^o^
Strangely enough, I was watching Mr. Big videos at the time the memory came to me. Strange because the bands/music style/time period are all different. I was having a laugh at how the passing of time had such an effect on Mr. Big's look. Early 90s, they were doing the big hair band thing (favorite moment of this video is 2:46 when Paul and Billy bust out the Makita drills). I always liked them best for their love songs, though. Still have my sheet music for To Be With You and Just Take My Heart, actually.
Anyway, I think most people these days would know these guys for the Helling ending theme, and I just goggled at their new look in the video for Shine. Short hair?! And they're dressing more casual and sporty, too. And the choice of night-vision goggle-vision gives cumulative effect of the band members looking much younger than they seemed to be more than 10 years ago. >D;

I has a new toy. :3 Been playing with it all morning (the hours between 12-3pm are morning to me... -_-;) I'mthinking of feeding it things I've been meaning to read, converting them to mp3, and sticking them on my mp3 player. I do get bored of music sometimes.

[14 Jan 2007|03:18pm] |
Paintchat's fun~~~ :O I just wish I were more attentive to what other people are drawing and the chat going on. ^o^; If I could draw faster, I'd take a look around the board and actually type more. ^^;;; Sorry to everyone I'm failing to attribute here. orz|||
Files are rather large. 600x600-ish, 2mb each. ^^;; Oh yeah, and these are Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fan art.
( Giogio )
I wish I'd capped more of the other drawings that're peeking over at the borders of the image file. That's Ka's Bruno on the left. Who drew Diosaur (at the bottom)? The bits above Dio's arm in that Dio holding Jonathan's head drawing to the right are what I put down initially, then it got added to (by who? ^^;;;). I missed capping the addition of chains and yellow hearts to Dio's tutu (someone else got this, right? ^^;), but it totally inspired me to do this next drawing....
( Swan Lake Dio (no nudity, but still suggestive and wrong >D (at least I hope it has that effect >_>)) )

| [gameblog] Trauma Center (ch.5-2) |
[20 Dec 2006|02:13pm] |
So the 5 Kyriaki ops marathon... I was finishing up the 4th patient when there were only seconds to spare for the 5th, and I was thinking OHSHIT because I wasn't looking at the dialogue where apparently Angie was telling me backup had arrived. Your time can run out, but you MUST be on the 5th op for a clear. I guess if I ever manage to operate on all five within 10 minutes, that'll be an S, but for now I'm glad to move on with the story. Which is learning that GUILT becomes airborne. ^^;
Next op: another Triti (the damn crystal thorns and triangle GUILT). >_>;;;

| we got the SFX but not the story apparently |
[19 Dec 2006|03:30am] |
Took a look at Rotten Tomatoes for the first time in a rather long while and immediately clicked on Eragon. Ouch, 14% with critics and 35% with users? (ETA: From F_W, even some message board/review wank) I'm not saying I'll never watch it ever, just that it's definitely going to be be rent or borrow situation.
But now I'm wondering if someone out there in Hollywood is ever going to make a high fantasy coming-of-age parody movie. Not a parody like Shrek, which deals more in fairy tales (and was actually fun to watch), but in the god-awful Scary Movie vein. Please let it have a daisy chain of a title that references all of the ones that've been through the box office, a la Don't Be a Menace To South Central While Drinking Your Juice In Da Hood. Something like "Lord of the Dragon of the Quest of the Dungeon of the Legend of Enchanted Destiny of the..." Hell, Dungeons & Dragons was 85% of the way there -- it even had a Wayans brother -- just no one on the project seemed to be in on the jokes. >_>;

| Shipping meme |
[01 Nov 2006|02:51pm] |
I want to post more often. ^^; I don't know what about, so I'll start Monday off with a meme that I saw going around:
Comment with the name/title of a fandom I'm aware of, no matter how obvious you think the answers will be, and I'll reply you with the relationships -canon or not - from it I ship. I'll give favorite romantic relationships as well as favorite platonic ones. Also, you're free to reply in subthreads and ask me why I ship or don't ship something.

HK Movie Day record: - God of Cookery - Feng Shui (Doesn't count as HK at all; actually a Filipino movie =P) - Rush Hour 2 - House of Flying Daggers - Bishounen (Only a little bit)
You're right, drave117. The only reason Midnight for Charlie Bone must've gotten published is because of Harry Potter. Boy with special powers, check; strange school where the kids dress funny (color coded capes), check; family secrets and magical heredity, check and check. With five books out and maybe more on the way, it looks like a fairly successful series, but I found it a very tedious read. I don't like any of the characters, not even the evil ones (very much dying for need of a believable malicious intention from Granny Bone and the Yewbeam aunts, and at least a temporary reason from two others whose names I've forgotten). There are point of view changes without notice and generalizations where there should be vivid details. It feels like there's a whole lot of wasted movement and actions, with time only inching by. Very few scenes that feel like an actual moment. Oh yeah, and this series has the worst possible word for "characters gifted with special powers" EVER, and it's ( endowed. )
In other news, Gantz has me again. Very surprised at how much I came to care about Kurono, and yet I was all too forgiving towards an actual psychopath just because of his looks and a panda... >_>;;;

Choose twelve of your original characters in any particular order. (NO PEEKING AT THE QUESTIONS AT THIS STAGE!) Then, answer the questions that follow and don’t forget to tag a couple of people when you’re finished.
1. D 2. Redis 3. Alton 4. Haley 5. Jill 6. Josie 7. Natsu 8. Father Michael 9. Chandra 10. Derek 11. Countdown 12. Nene Shista
( OC Q&A... I guess I need to work on my oristories more. ^^; )
Not tagging anyone. (The ones I would ask freely would just procrastinate anyway. You know who you are. >:O) Whoever feels like doing this, go ahead. ^_^

Once Upon a Time by the Moody Blues came up on my playlist a little while ago, so I set Winamp to play "Nights in White Satin" next. Also went and looked up the lyrics online and came across this page, where the following little nugget caught my eye:
The album is a concept album based around different times of day. For example, "Dawn Is a Feeling" and "Tuesday Afternoon." ["Nights in White Satin"] was last on the album because it represented nighttime.
First thought: Wow, why didn't my MB-loving art teacher ever mention this? Second thought: AAAAUUGGGHHH, ARAKI-SENSEI~ >o< So that's why Abbaccha's Stand has the power it does. >DDDD;;;;;;;
While I'm linking stuff, here's a Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Timeline, consisting of English narration over storyboard art from the American JBA DVDs: - Part 1 - Covers first half of first Jojo story arc - Part 2 - Second half of first story arc - Part 3 - First quarter of second story arc. (Aw, no Caesar or LisaLisa...)

Most of y'all don't care for World of Warcraft, I'm sure, but this download might interest certain Metal Gear Solid fans. Those that are amused by Liquid Snake anyway? See, WoW will be unleashing a new Horde race of ebil blond elves called Blood Elves, and some brilliant casting director decided upon Clarke to express their languid, narcissistic air.

In between chores, spent most of today watching Doctor Who (2005 series), up to "The Doctor Dances." I think I might be able to get my sister to watch it, since she caught a few moments of the procession of guests in "The End of the World" and remarked that it reminded her of the Hitchhiker's Guide movie.
Doctor really is stunningly a lot like captainyeti. O_O I wouldn't have expected such a bright and quirky character if I had just watched 28 Days Later. >D;
I think I'd like to see the earlier Doctor Who to see how Daleks were portrayed; have got some idea, between A) Eccleston's wonderful first reaction in the Dalek ep (because it seems really incongruous to react that way to a giant pepper mill with a heating wire and plunger stuck on as limbs), and B) and a certain fanvid I came across based on Eddie Izzard's Live at the Ambassador's (to view: part 1, part 2).
