June 21st has always been a favorite day.

It's the first day of summer.

Then it became our anniversary.

And tonight we close on our house and receive the keys.

Countryside in the rain and shine

The countryside somewhere in southern Ireland (we literally pulled over on the side of the road somewhere and hopped out of the car in the pouring rain to take it!)

It's one of my favourite shots I took while over there.

These are my shoes ...
My friend Kyle was doing a Comedy Central taping last Friday, and the boy and I went to support him. It usually works out that when he's in town, we are out of town, so it was nice to be able to see him perform - it's probably been about 2 years since the last time.

Here's a bit from his last DVD - which is a bit more structured. This latest performance was more stream of consciousness.

Pan's Labyrinth
Over the weekend we saw Pan's Labyrinth - a dark yet fanciful story about a young girl in Franco's Spain. The imagery was beautiful, and the sound amazing, but some parts were almost too gruesome.

Afterward, the boy and I got into a rather heated discussion of whether or not it was actually a faery tale, or if it was merely an escapist fantasy. The film is deliberately ambiguous.

So I put the question to those of you who've seen it. Was she a real princess or just escaping from a horrible situation by imagining it all?

happy new year
New year. Fresh outlook. 2007 is going to be a year of significant changes. I can feel it.

Christmas was good. Every year it seems like we have more places to go to then last year. We made 3 stops on Christmas Day alone! The boy got me a new wacom tablet, in an effort I think to encourage me to update my portfolio for ncad, and so I can do more work from home.

Probable travel plans include a trip to Hawaii, Thailand for a wedding, and of course, Ireland (again!).

2006 was a rather eventful year ... )

Goals for 2007 ... hmm. I never follow resolutions. That being said, I would like to start writing more here. Catch up on my book backlog - I think it's at about 75 unread books now. Write, draw, knit, play video games, and be happy.

Watched a rather amusing movie this weekend on the SciFi Channel. Well known for such classics like Mammoth and Abominable, there was no reason to think that Dragon Sword wouldn't be complete rubbish as well. Which is not to say that it wasn't cheesy. It was! Just not in the useless sort of way.

Originally named George and the Dragon, it was produced in the UK a couple years ago by a company called Great British Films. That right there should have been a clue. The movie was a cross between Monty Python meets Mel Brooks. We will probably end up picking this up on DVD.

Also, I have a few vox invites if anyone wants. Just let me know!

We ended up getting tickets through work at the last minute for the Mariner's game yesterday. Not only were the tickets for seats in a suite box, but the Mariners won as well! Let me tell you, watching the game from a suite is the way to go.

Did you know that the Angels are now the LA Angels and not the Anaheim Angels? After Disney sold the team, the new owners decided last year to change the name to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim which resulted in the city of Anaheim suing the team for breach of contract. Unfortunately for the city they lost, and the name change remains.

Goes to show how much I pay attention to baseball! Thankfully, one of my friends is a huge Angels fan, and was more then happy to fill me in on all the goings-on.
