[Sep. 26th, 2008|09:11 pm] |
Now live in Woy Woy, finally got internet on, I still commute to work in the city. Two hours each way. Yes looking for local job.
Just tried reading back on past friend's entries, gave up around 20/09/08. Sorry. Please send emails to update me on any major or minor - basically stuff important to you - happenings/stuff etc
Will be at Blue Moon if anyone wants to catch up...it's 9:30pm, my weekday wake time is 5am. Very tired. Me sleep now. |

| Quick update |
[Aug. 25th, 2008|02:21 pm] |
Currently at the moment I do not have regular internet access hence I am unable to keep you all up to date through facebook, lj.
Please accept my apologies if I have not replied to requests, emails and other internet based activities. There are plans to have the internet connected in our new home, so perhaps another month of "silence".
The house goes well, all walls and ceilings have been painted, new flooring in kitchen and dining rooms. Have started on floor prepping in our future study.
80% of things remain unpacked, which is best |

[Jul. 7th, 2008|07:34 pm] |
Well...we got the keys on 28th. We spent that weekend ripping up the living room carpet. Foul dog smelling carpet. Full of dust mites and things that had been hoarded. Ripped up Lino in Laundry.
Last weekend it was cleaning the Laundry, painting the laundry floor "ferric red" which is an awesome colour, it looks like blood soaked terracotta when wet. This is because R. refuse to let me have green and I didn't want the regulation grey colour. So we joked about "Let us show you our laundry..."
The kitchen and dining room is a dig, you remember those documentries where they discuss the layers of dirt showing time periods? Two layers vinyl floor covering, a layer of masonite and another layer of vinyl reveal wooden floor boards. No the floor was not clean between each layer we discover several fridge magnets including one for Child Services. We are pretty sure the top layer was done during or after easter due to the easter egg foil wrappers we found underneath it.
On top of all this crap are the kitchen fittings. So when we finish removing all the layers all the fittings will look like they are hovering over the floor.
We have manage to remove the top two lino sections, R. being my "hardworking coolie"* removed a lot of masonite...and was extremely tolerate of my behavior.
Work - OMG if I could tell you, it's like a car crash - me I'm doing well but I highly suspect I will not get the raise I want. Which means I will look at local work and see what is available.
*I'm sure to get a smack for that one. |

| Supernova Review |
[Jun. 24th, 2008|08:20 pm] |
I would like to start by stating now I understand the following terms:
"Sugar-Rush" "Sugar -Crash" "Overstimulation"
These are phrases used by parents around the world to describe certain annoying behavior children go through - hyper stage, tantrum stage and crash stage. All those phrases really are the cause of tantrums.
Supernova did this to me.
It was not that I had too much sugar...I used it to describe how I was acting. While I did not have a tantrum...there were stages were I very much wanted to. Fan Grrl moment Day one started with not enough sleep (Stayed up late trying to find copies of BTS and failed), Met Ben Templesmith ( ben_templesmith Did my best not to explode or come across as some hideous stalker freak type. Think I did a good job. Stuff Shopping more shopping. More correctly -looking, looking and more looking. Mainly because we were crusing for freebies. And freebies were obtained. New Friend? I met a lovely lady ( misskikkikat who is involved with Asian Ball Jointed Dolls who will be holding a seminar later in the year about making them. It the moment I have the paper work somewhere. She is also a Steampunk enthusist. Competition Found out about the art competition and was very excited.
Sore feet were obtained, I went to a seminar about pitching a graphic novel to mainstream publishers. Which despite time restraints and room mixups was most educational.
Day two up and early to see Del Toro and Selma Blair live via satelite. Fan Grrl moment two. My heart was a trapped warthog on speed ramming my ribcage the whole way through. Got to ask a question..and R. and I scored many goodies. Hellboy poster, Hellboy t-shirt, Hellboy Art book with Golden Army script, which I read, a little miffed. However I will not say a word. Just two: Abe tipsy.
Imagine this excitement should be enough to make me swoon but somehow I stayed upright and just threw myself into it.
Entered Art Competition. Took photos, ate car boot lunches ($4.50 for a Nori roll!), Even entered the Kamehameha contest...and if it was based on laughs I would have won. But I did well and the audience loved me...well they cheered really loud for me.
To cut this short, I finally fulfilled two things I have wanted to do. Meet Templesmith and talk with Del Toro. I came second in the Art competition, the prize was coated in dust and due to "sugar-crash" mode was a little teary. I'm over it now...the first prize winner was very good and in colour. Mine was a simple b/w outline. Caught up with friends, made a new one and have a possible new obsession - abjd or dollfies.
So I did a bit of looking at other similar conventions and they all have art competitions, so I'll be getting my work into shape to enter.
If I obtained second prize at Supanova, I might fare better with more experience.
Monday and today I have been in zombie mode |

| What's on this weekend |
[Jun. 20th, 2008|10:32 pm] |
I have finally succumbed...I'am going to a comic/anime convention. Supernova to be exact.
I have manage to avoid these things since they started in Australia, mainly because I hate crowds...fan-people, etc. Mainly going for Del Toro live via satelite - my "fan-grl" points just increased. Also finally get to meet Ben Templesmith...well I did meet him once vaguely. However this time I'm getting him to sign stuff I hope.
Had dinner with murasaki_1966 tonight as a catch up before I totally succumb to packing and moving fever due to house project.
Well I'm off to dig up Templesmith stuff for him to sign...including old issues of BTS he use to illustrate before BTS went shit that is. |

| Why not |
[May. 13th, 2008|08:33 pm] |
I want to go to a pub or a bar with geeky guys running around in their undies flicking each other with towels (kangaroo tail style) then have votes on the winner by the one who scores the most impressive bruise or welt.
I could happily drink quietly in such an establishment. I really want a drink, a comfy chair and geeks in undies towel flicking each other. If people can find establishments that have jelly wrestling I want geek towel flicking!
Then promises to build me a computer in front of a roaring fire. While they light my ciggies with fancy laser screwdriver (The Master ed.) lighter, perhaps discuss anime over vodka by the glow of a chemistry set.
Who says I'm not a romantic.
BTW the above was my response to a bunch of guys chatting about strip clubs. For some reason they think I'm odd ( Read more... ) |

| Spots to see in the UK part 1 |
[Apr. 4th, 2008|07:49 pm] |
I have been reading the most delightful travel book names Bollocks to Alton Towers: uncommonly British days out
Right that is half of my British holiday planned (I will get they one day!)
Here are some of the selections I have made:
Pitt Rivers Museum This is the sort of museum that normally only exists in films where bespectacled professors of Egyptology get their neck snapped by angry Mummies. The displays are so cluttered that the easiest way to respond is to give them a cursory once-over-and-wow as you walk past. But on closer inspection every cabinet turns out to be full of something fasinating...
Snuff boxes, oars, thumb pianos, opium pipes, betel chewing equipment, charms against the evil eye, keys, padlock...etc.
Keith Harding's World of Mechanical Music Mainly because it's mechanical music like music boxes, gramophones, barrel organs, wax cylinder players etc.
Mother Shipton's Cave and Dripping Well Seriously how awesome does that sound? It's actually a petrification spot.
Imber When the army took control of Imber in 1943 the villagers left on condition that they could return as soon as hostilities were over. The army renaged on their promise. Basically a half shelled out village.
Diggerland Soley to get my fix of earthmoving equipment...may need to abduct some children as my cover.
Orford Ness Cold War military testing sites make me hot. Especially deserted ones.
Wellcome Collection of Medical History Where else will you see Napolean's toothbrush, a dried human head, a merman made from paper mache and fish bones, leech cages, tonsil guillotines and Etrusan dental bridges? It is also FREE! The original link didn't work so I did a search and found this one.
Williamson Tunnels Heritage Centre Tunnels!
Portmeirion I have always wanted to go here after seeing The Prisoner apparently they do have a shop dedicated to fans of the show.
I complete the rest of this list later... |

Below is a vid someone did cutting bits of Re-I(pronounce Real) Mayer from one of my favourite animes Ergo Proxy. I love the style of this series as well as the story. I love Re-I clothing, hair and makeup and would love to be able to carry it off. The tune is Nemo by Nightwish.
In a way Re-I reminds me of ozisim just in height and really is the only person I know who could carry off this look. Espcially the clothes

| Random and using Hare Krishnas to break up fights |
[Apr. 1st, 2008|07:58 pm] |
Quote of the week: I've been talking so much that my jaw feels like I've been staring in a Tijuana Sideshow
T-shirt of the week: Some days it isn't even worth chewing through the restraints
Excuse of the week: Really I can't, I'm disembowling the neighbours this weekend
Video of the week: Emos protesting in Mexico, fights with punks and rockabillies, potential riot broken up by Hare Krishnas. Which has prompted me, perhaps we should have Hare Krishnas instead of security guards?
