This is the latest Google Application/Feature/Thingy that I've discovered. It might not be news to you - but I think it's effing slick.

They've added photos that have been uploaded from users worldwide to layer those photos over actual maps. I think Flickr is doing (or did) a similar project, but it's so neat.

Camping season is nearly here! Trav bought this tonight for us. Apparently it weighs an effing ton - but who cares? We're going to be the coolest kids at the campground. :DDDD

largestill's friend Jenise moved into our apartment last December, as she was living in a crackden and her life was sort of in shambles. For the past six months - I've given her the deal of the century on rent ($200/mo for rent & food included), in order to help her get back on track. This included clothes, a winter coat, bus tickets, loaning her the car or money (which has been repaid), etc.

Now - her boyfriend moved in January, and didn't pay ANY rent the first two months because he was unemployed. Whatever - he was helping around the house.

They've just moved into their own 1-bedroom apartment on the other side of town; and I'm happy for them. Things seem to be on track for her; she has gainful employment, a half-decent guy she's with, and her dog back from her evil ex-bf.

Now, what really gets me, is that when they left - we had agreed there would be a contract between the three of us... since I had to co-sign for their new place for six months. It basically states that if they don't pay rent and fuk me over - that I am taking them to court and they agree to take fault in advance.

They moved most of their stuff this weekend; but didn't sign the forms. It's not like they didn't see it. They had to step on it before opening the door to her room. Also - my apartment balcony deck needs repainting because she used to snuff out her cigarette butts between the boards (I didn't know until summer). Plus they haven't paid $100 of their rent for April (the boyfriend, not Jenise). Issues with their paycheques, apparently. (For fuk's sake, the BF earns more than I do, and has virtually no expenses. Don't lie and say he's broke.)

So I'm really just insulted, and not impressed. Disgusted even.

Though, I am thrilled to get my space back. Even if I have to clean it myself.

While speaking on the phone with a client tonight (someone I've spoke to a number of times in the last week, regarding ongoing issues)... she asks me "Where are you located? Like you, personally?"

So I say, "Well the team is in Charlotte, NC, but I'm helping out from one of the Canadian braches; in Halifax, NS. It's on the East coast, not too far from Maine."

She says. "Wow - you have like.. no accent."

Compliment?

Either way, I launched into my best newfie accent, and I says "well, bi, I can ask where y'er at then I'll come where y'er to. But I rather eat my poutine on the chesterfield, when wearing a toque, bi. It's mighty cold up here on the roof now, eh, bi?"

Or something stupid to that effect. She was roaring at the end of it. I REALLY hope they taped that call to evaluated. :D

I love the internet. Without it - I would never have found this practically new/unused chair for $75. Which almost matches my couch!

Trav and I went to H&R Block today with all our papers in tow, hoping for a refund so we could pay for more wedding stuff. As our tax lady puts all the numbers into her computer, she talks about sharing certain monies, who should claim what, etc.

I have been lucky so far to always get a refund; but never this lucky. $2375!! I'm just beyond excited. I wish I could spend the money on something more exciting though, lol.

This was a clever film. Not funny burst-out-laughing; but smart witty lines.

The story was about the father of a family going through a change; realizing he's self-absorbed and egocentric and needs to put his family life in order because it's getting out of control. His 17-year old daughter is far too grown-up, his older son in college barely talks to him, his floundering adopted brother moves in because he can't pay rent, and he still haven't fully recovered from the death of his wife.

Dennis Quaid was really good in this film; Sarah Jessica Parker played a decent love interest, and Ellen Page was spot-on, as usual. Definitely a good cast.

It was intelligently written and the characters have a subtlety to them. It's unfortunate this movie will not be fully recognized for how great it is - but you should see it while you can.

Trav and I went to the movies last night, but went to WalMart beforehand to kill some time. I was looking for a new ceramic planter, nothing exciting. We wandered through the garden section and ended up in the summer/patio/outdoors area. They had some really nice things - and I kind of went a litle nuts on $2-3 items.

I have re-useable icecubes! I have been looking for new ones forevar, honestly! Now I have three different types, in all colours and shapes. They also had cool icecube trays.. which are shaped so the ice cubes are long rectangles so you can put them down the neck of bottles. Brilliant! Got a few other things too, but had to reign myself in.

I swear, I am only five years old sometimes. :D

Over my lunch break today, I decided I was too freaking cold working in the office today, so I went to the shops to find a sweater or something.

I ended up with
-a new blazer/spring coat thing. It's brown, fits nicely, coordinates with everything I own (as I have a ton of brown at home)
-a new scarf; beautiful spring green with a light pattern, coordinates with everything I own, and was on sale! $9.99
-a new travel mug from Starbucks (I don't really need one, but this promises not to leak)

I have decided that I am not going to buy Timmy's coffee unless I have a travel mug. No more can't-be-recycled-because-the-HRM-recycling-plants-suck timmy's cups for me!

Plus I'll probably spend less on coffee that way, and help the environment, blah blah.

I also bought a SKOR bar because it was only $0.55! Yum.

Action. Action. Action.

This movie is pretty straight forward in plot, but it's one helluva ride! Violence, drugs, corruption, murder, plot twists, great actors, more action!

LAPD cop Tom Ludlow (Reeves) is an LAPD cop who finds himself in the middle of a huge investigation; which gets bigger as he figures out who's really behind the crime.

Definitely not to be missed if you're a fan of any of the actors in this movie (Keanu Reeves, Hugh Laurie, Forest Whitaker) or if you're just an action fan!

Action? Awesome!
Believability? Plausible.
Cash count in dollars spent by the LAPD to bury the actual events? Huge!

Meanwhile, I went to this movie only for my crush on K.R. (shut up) and was pleasantly surprised. It was GOOD, really good.

In the comedy styling of "40-year-old Virgin" and "Superbad" comes this film to slay them all. This movie is F-U-N-N-Y. It's properly silly, but has some fantastic lines. It might not be Grandmother safe, but you'll enjoy it. :D

Poor Peter, his girlfriend of five years breaks his heart and he can't get over her. On the advice of friends, he flies to Hawaii in an attempt to console himself and put life back in perspective. Only to find out his Ex is there with her boyfriend/lover.

Through a series of events, he finds some new friends, has a fling with a nice girl and gets his self-respect back.

A: helluva funny movie
B: best lines overall for 2008
C: catch a glimpse of some male front nudity!

Definitely worth a watch. But not for the weiners.
