5:00pm: Not quite home
Between engagements I find myself in Hoboken, in the apartment I once called mine and once called home. It's one of those days where I overlooked little things like breakfast and lunch, and walk to my deli for a 4 o'clock dinner. This is Hoboken as I remember it. The Hoboken of the workday, not crowded or noisy. Office drones are still filed away in their buildings, and it's the odd hours crowd who gets to enjoy a the sunny afternoons. I grab a mozzarella and sundried tomato sandwich in the best deli in the world. And I go out walking. Alone on a city street has always been my time to think, to relax, to just be in my head. This town is always bittersweet to me.

12:18pm: Busy day

After a few months of looking, I found 5 Wiis in the target in Marlboro. I was actually going in to buy a bottle of gatorade and completely forgot to get it. Instead, I asked a sales person if they indeed had wiis, or just empty boxes to torment me, bought one, and ran out of the store. It will be sitting on my lap on the plane.

Driving home, I watched a SUV full of dumb broads run into their friend's car very hard (probably also full of dumb broads) on their way to the beach. I was right behind the SUV at a light. Good times.

Broken tables on the back porch. Windows covered up and doors barred. New hours of operation, effective in march, are posted; not effective anymore. Old beer ad posters hang in shreds off the gate. There's something sad and fitting in the shut down bar.

What American accent do you have?
Created by Xavier on Memegen.net

Northeastern.
You're probably from somewhere near New York City, possibly north Jersey, or Connecticut or Rhode Island. If you are from New York City you may be one of the types who people never believe when you say you're from New York.

Take this quiz now - it's easy!
We're going to start with "cot" and "caught." When you say those words do they sound the same or different?

Today when driving to the hospital, I was behind a car with the following stickers on their rear window: "Marriage: One man, One Woman"; "Support our Troops: Don't Listen to the Liberal Media"; and a silhouette of Darth Vader.

I wonder if they purposefully coordinated them.

I haven't been doing exercises for my shoulder since I've moved to Arizona. This is due in part to me not being able to find my weights since moving in. I finally found them yesterday, and resumed doing the things that are supposed to strengthen my shoulder muscles after being dislocated.

I dislocated my shoulder doing so.

1:12am: Today we went to bed at at odd hour. Well, Ali went to bed at around 8ish, I guess, and I stayed up until around 11, working on the computers. I went to bed, couldn't sleep, got up in 20 minutes to check something on the computer, and went back to bed, this time waking up Ali. We were talking, and I said, not that seriously, to go make egg salad, since she had been talking about it before going to sleep. She actually got up after sleeping for three hours and made lunch before we went back to sleep.

12:43am: Genocide, it's what's for christmas
Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In March I gave [info]sadpassingshame a kidney (1000 points). In January I saved a busload of nuns in Angola (326 points). In February I punched [info]legolink in the arm (-10 points). Last Friday I ate my brussel sprouts (1 points). Last Wednesday I committed genocide... Sorry about that, alisonku13 (-5000 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-3683 points). For Christmas I deserve a spanking!

Sincerely,
Impulse725

What normal person can really hope to influence such idiocy? It's like conducting a chemistry experiment with unlabeled chemicals to mix at random. Yes, I may be making choices, but in no way can I expect to know the results of my decisions

The articles are listed in order of context, the last one is a pretty in depth look. Basically, there's discussion about taxing the online sale of virtual goods. Such as when people sell magic sword from Everquest on E-bay, or sell gold for Warcraft over a website. That's not really a problem, these transactions are already taxable and supposed to be reported as income. They're generally black market transactions to some degree, which may make collecting a tax seem silly, but as the third article points out, there's a IRS form for reporting income from things you steal (if you don't return them to the original owner within a year). Clearly, the government is not picky about where it's money comes from.

But that's not the point, that income (obtained via questionably legal means or not) is already taxable and you're supposed to report it. This proposal is about taxing players for virtual items they own in the game. You kill an orc in WoW and get a magic sword (or a few pieces of silver)? That's taxable income whether you turn it into real money or not since it has real world value. The fact that companies claim all in game items as their property and try to thwart and ban real world selling of virtual items (or so they claim) doesn't seem to be a factor. The real world value of gold or items is based solely on their value in a black market environment, and that value might be taxed.

So, to recap. Not only has the taxing of imaginary items been proposed and discussed, but the value of these pretend items solely exists in (possibly) illicit transfers. If this actually moves up the food chain, I could theoretically be taxed for the items and gold my character has in my inactive World of Warcraft account.

What Divinity do you worship?
Your Result: You worship KNOWLEDGE

The divinity of Knowledge was created to guide man in advancements in their machines and understanding of the physical world. Knowledge gives his gift reluctantly, having seen the havoc man can cause with enough comprehension of a concept. The appearance of this Divinity is an elderly man, not frail, but robust in his age, with piercing eyes. His dress is often completely inconspicuous, as has been noted in clothing of all sorts and periods.

The believers of Knowledge are very ill at ease with emotion and often shy away from personal interaction outside of academic discussion. This often leads to interpersonal interactions being traumatic when allowed to progress. Being human, though, they often gravitate towards this. They are drawn towards puzzles and mental challenges, and revel in learning new skills. Woe be it to any man who crosses a worshiper of Knowledge; vengeance shall be inventive, painful, and impressive. Knowledge is aligned with Order.
