I love Pentel pens. Given the choice, I'd always go for a Pentel.
My frustration with them is that they tend to discontinue models. I know the pen category is probably a really low involvement category, hence the need for constant innovation and refresh, but I like the old models!!!
Like the classic Hybrid. I still have some of my 10-year old
Hybrid metallics that came out in 20+ different colors. The Hybrid line still exists in a couple products, but I think it's going to disappear soon here in Asia. (I discovered a red metallic Hybrid I used to have 5 years ago yesterday in this run-down stationery supply shop near my neighbourhood. I was so happy!)
My favorite, favorite one was the
Hybrid Technica in 0.7, which is now discontinued. If I hunt long enough (ie, the neighbourhood run-down shops), I can still find them in 0.5 or 0.3, but that's just pathetic!
The colorful, youthful kind of line to replace Hybrid is now called
Slicci. I have a few of them, but at 0.4 with micro tip and a super slim barrel, it just doesn't give a good grip and it catches liquid paper easily, creating blockage. Definitely not essay-writing material. I use them to do multiple choice quizzes only now =P
I bought an
Energel yesterday too. It seems kinda promising, but let's see how it holds up in furious lab notes writing =P I so hate writing procedures by hand.
