Why do people fear what they do not understand? why is it that they loathe, disrespect and discriminate against what they do not understand? Though, I must say, not all 5 fingers on the hand are the same. There are people who are opposite of what I described.Recently Mr.Andy of www.andymack.com posted some lovely photos of his very short stay in Dubai.. Unfortunately these pictures also included shots of a local family consisting of two ladies, thier mother and thier brother, they were unaware of his friendly lens swallowing them. To an American in NewYork, or a Japanese in Tokyo or an African from Tanzania, taking photos of women may be as normal as breathing. However, there is a long list of countries that would be so offended by this action. Including where I am from. Generally and widespreadly, women do not want thier pictures taken and publicly displayed. Men especially do not want thier precious wives paraded online publicly for the sake of tourism or whatever. As much as this may sound absurd or illogical to alot, it is the truth and it will remain the truth. We as people must learn to live with each other. Since the invention of the aeroplane and the internet, people of different races and religions are forced to face each other more and more. That does not mean we are obliged to influence or even comprise another person's cultures and traditions. What may be normal in your culture could very well be a taboo in my culture. In America, it is considered normal for a student to address his or her teacher by thier first name,is it even normal for a student to address his or her teacher with words like "Hey - Yo - ". Try doing that in many other countries in the world, I guarantee you will feel the same you incurred. Bringing Personal size pizzas to class, fried chicken from Kentucky seem to be normal in US educational instistutions. However this would be considered great insult to people from different countries. It is supposedly customary in the US to leave a tip after eating or buying food from a restaurant. Yes, even if you ordered to go (parcel) or you only ordered a simple cup of coffee at your table, you are expect to tip at least 20% of the bill. Where as in my country is it rare to tip, the only time I have ever seen people tip are at large 5-star restaurants. Instead of trying to manipulate or change another person's traditions and cultures, why not try to understand it? If one is too retarted or ignorant to even understand, then out of simple dignity and respect to mankind and humanity, simply accept other traditions.
I feel happy though, no matter how different cultures and traditions are. I still see compassion and care exist among different countries. Thanks Andy. 3 comments | post a comment
Because I travel frequently and usually total traveling time is never less than 22 hours. I needed to find a way to make these horrendous 22 hours ( if not more ) fly by. The way my journey is broken is simple. I board a plane in USA heading towards a European country. The country in europe depends on the plane ticket i buy (which is usually at last minute). So far ive been to Charles De Gaul in France, Amsterdam Schiphol in Holland, both London Heathrow and London Gatwick in the United Kingdom, Aeropuerto de Barcelona in Spain,Frankfurt Airport in Germany and Zürich Aiport in Switzerland. My favorite airport is Aeropuerto de Bacelona,Spaniards are cool. The prettiest lookin airport would have to be Charles De Gaul in Paris, France. Amsterdam Schipol is the funkyest. I check this site before visiting new airports. According to cnn.com, The World's Best Airport Lounges for 2004:
But nothing comes close to Abu Dhabi International Airport -AUH-. Did you know it was designed by Aeroports de Paris and was finished in 1980. It was designed to resemble an Oasis in the desert which would be surrounded by both greenery and sand. The theme was trying to represent an Oasis. (click) Its 4:20am, my flight is in 12 hours and 20 mins. I usually stay up a whole day before the flight. This way im so exhausted ill sleep for at least 5 hours. Thats pretty much the journey from the States to some European country. This way I wake up convienently in the transit airport. I have noticed two common emotions when coming bach home. The first half of the journey is spent spinning between the frustration of a 23 hour journey and the bliss soon to come true. The latter half of the journey (arrival at transit airport). Here everything changes to excitement and planning. Listing everything that needs to be accomplished. Sometimes only alBaasha can cure an injured soul. Right Mr.Cage ? _________________________________ Im going to bed for a few hours. 6 comments | post a comment
Fourth of July in the US is a big day, people celebrate Independance Day by grilling and cooking outside. Alot of friends and family gather. Alot of people get on thier bikes and topless cars and go Kruzing in the Indiana Country....there is nothing but fields...corn is plentiful ...fun to drive on.. Here are a few peeks of what I did... (click pics for larger better view) waitin and waitin, gettin more and more hungry ....while these burgers grill... no good deed goes unpunished, this burger paid the ultimate price for being so sexy ! would you believe me if i told you this road does not end? i did 225kmh on this road...initialy i had planned on recording the whole thing, but after topping 170kmh i dropped the camera, it was too exciting to hold a camera .I will upload the vid soon inshalla.
On a more thoughtful level,i find this particular peice of literature very inspiring. I was 9 years old the first time i read it. I must say im still impressed by how influencing it is.
There was a little boy with a bad temper. His father gave him a bag of nails and told him that everytime he lost his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one." Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. 9 comments | post a comment

Even though i wasnt in the mood...still passed him though ;) Things are looking better, i am a few moons shy from coming home.. 2 comments | post a comment
