Earlier, I tried to distract myself from being somewhat with a meme, and it led me to uncomfortable thinkyness regarding My Ex-Boyfriend (The Asshole). That wasn't pleasant. But hey! New meme! Totally gacked from ladybug218.

However, for the sake of ease, you can presume I've written just about every SG1, SGA, and BtVS character, at the very least, plus gobs of other fandoms and characters. (Multifannishness is FUN, goddamnit!) Also, my RP characters are up for this as well, if you feel like asking about them.

Someday, I will have a Eureka icon. Until then, this will have to do.

We're having a fic battle over at sg_rarepairings, and are taking prompts.

The rules are any character, any pairing except Daniel/Jack, Jack/Sam, Sheppard/Weir, and McKay/Sheppard, and no non-Gateverse crossovers. Because I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea, it's not because Meesh and I don't like those pairings. It's because they get a lot of attention as it is. (Yes, I feel the need to say this all the time. With the amount of wank Gateverse fandom is capable of, are you surprised I feel this need?)

irony_rocks? SCC fic battle is so waiting until after the season finale airs, and everything settles down just a little bit. I promise, though, that I haven't forgotten!

In an effort to kick-start my muse, I will take the first five prompts for the ganked-from-all-over timestamp meme:

Give me one of my own stories and a timestamp sometime in the future after the end of the story, or sometime in the past before the story started, and I'll write you at least a hundred words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story started or ten years in the future.

My fic is indexed here by show. Crossovers are only listed in the crossover section, however. (If you really want to get OCD and perfectionist, they're in alphabetical order at this link, and there's also These Are The Voyages, my SGA/Star Trek AU, which isn't listed on my fic index.)

Also, I do have to reserve the right to ask for a new prompt if you request something that I'm already working on sequel to. I don't want to mess up anything that's in progress (or collaborative).

I've been living in my own little fannish world, which included the presumption that everyone knew about the various carnivals of sci fi and fandom. OOPS. *sheepish*

Basically? They're linkdrops to essays, and contain essays on the themes given - the two I know of are for and about feminism and people of color, and the blogs are up at ofcolour.blogspot.com and carnival.feministsf.net. (Are there others? Can you link me, if there are?) Lots of meta. Lots of deep, enjoyable reading for stuff that's going to prompt thinky-thoughts.

Now that I'm in something approximating better health, I'm slowly getting to replies on the Good Series For Female Characters post. There are some great comments! But it'll take me a while.

So, in light of the recent wanking about mysogyny and gender (and also in light of recent discussions with cat_latin), I'm looking to make a list of good series for female characters. I've tried to include series that don't have any - or maybe not too many - skanky racial or gender issues (sorry Heroes and Gateverse), and which have well-done CoC as well. If I've missed something please feel free to comment and include why it should be on the list. This was starting to get very long, given how much I like strong female characters, but I know I can't watch every TV series out there. No guarantees there aren't spoilers beyond the cut-tag, though I did make sure to avoid anything resembling spoilers for The Sarah Connor Chronicles, since it's so new.

*sigh* Guess which show isn't on my forthcoming list of shows which are awesome to women? Skeevy race and gender issues are why I lost interest in Supernatural partway through second season, no matter how made of awesome Jo and Ellen are.

Concerning the general lack of women on Atlantis these days.

We have 53 writers (OMG!) who are already signed up, and a variety of prompts in a whole bunch of fandoms.

There are Uhura prompts. Uhura! People, do you know how I scour used bookstores for Trek books which feature Uhura even as a secondary character? There are Gateverse prompts - lots of Teyla, Elizabeth, and Sam, plus some Janet, Jennifer, Kate, and Laura. Even some of the more minor women are there.

Really, there are so many official fandoms, and so many prompts for wildcard fandoms (Forever Knight, people! X-Files! Women's Murder Club!) that I'm entirely too squeeful and thrilled about what kind of fic we're going to get out of this.

(For the curious, the official fandoms are: Angel, BSG, Bones, BtVS, Charmed, Farscape, Firefly, Harry Potter, Heroes, NCIS, SGA, SG1, each and every one of the Treks, Supernatural, and X-Men movieverse.)

ladybug218 and I are running a multifandom ficathon over on femme_fic with the basic theme of female friendship (or relationships) and empowerment.

Yes, amaka, this means you could, in fact, sign up and request Forever Knight. I've got at least one person that's not me that's offering to write it.
