| Opinion of the First Debate |
[Sep. 26th, 2008|11:10 pm] |
In the first debate, McCain started out strong and swinging. He tried to push his points and Obama's weakness a little too hard, though. But while Obama was most assuredly on the defensive, he was able to keep up and even get a few good points in. McCain's gaffes were not enough to counter Obama's, even though Obama got the locals wrong and McCain pulled a few Bushisms. Given all that has happened to McCain, he salvaged a whole lot of capital here; he stole a lot of economical momentum from Obama. Obama, however, came off as articulate and intelligent about foreign policy.
In my opinion, Obama and McCain came out of this tied. Neither trounced the other, but each got many good blows in. I have the feeling that the debates will stay close to this medium. Lots of soundbites for both to take advantage of. Depending on the Veep debate, which will be the clincher in terms of face, we may not be able to call it on the skills of the two candidates. But it did make for decent television. |

McCain's wanting to postpone the debate, to unite the country in this time of economic crisis, set off my bullshit meter.
I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but this is just to fucking obvious a maneuver to get some face after the economy fucked up because of that great big bank shit storm.
When I get my check, guess I'm making another donation. |

All hoopla aside, I've always believed you should vote for the person who's views are closest to your own, whether you like them or not. While you may not trust them, one can argue that you can't really trust any politician ever. So, to help my undecided friends out, here are two links detailing McCain and Obama's views. Brought to you by Fark and Newsday.

Also, register to vote, god damnit. If you need money for a stamp, I'll give you the fifty cents. You can keep the change. |

Was perhaps the most satisfying film experience I've ever had.
Heath Ledger was taken from us because had he not been, his Joker would of set this world on fire.
And I have a magic trick I'd like to show you.
P.S. Google "The Watchmen" trailer so that you can have another reason for living for a few more months. |

| A Draft of My Race and Labor Movement Essay |
[Jul. 3rd, 2008|01:35 am] |
Here's my final paper for my history class. It's long, yeah. But I think it's all right. If you're interested in social/labor movements and race, then perhaps you'll be interested. If you want to hate on "the man" it might be interesting for you too. And if you are "the man," then fuck you.
Also. It's supposed to be a histiograph. Which I have no idea how to do. Despite years of 'book learnin.'

| Sorta Update |
[Mar. 9th, 2008|05:02 am] |
Today I went to a tattoo expo in San Antonio with my old high school friends Tara and Judson. Saw lots of tattoo people. Might get one soon. I also saw Powerman 5000 in concert, and bought a CD, which was signed by them afterward. Took a picture with Spider, the lead singer (and Rob Zombies' brother) which I'll post as soon as I can. Went to a bar called "Dick's Last Resort" after, and boy, they were.
Before that I learned that I got the TA position at Texas State. So go me. I have a job for next semester (and until I graduate). Hopefully that will go well.
Take care folks. |

Slayer of darkness.
Loooooong.
Longcat may seem like just a regular lengthy cat, but he is, in fact, looong. For proof, observe the longpic.
It is prophesized that Longcat and his archnemesis Tacgnol will battle for supremacy on Caturday. The outcome will change the face of the world, and indeed the very fabric of lolcatdom, forever.
Be grateful that the test has chosen you, and only you, to have this title.
