3:01 pm - OMG.
OMG. I hope Mr. O saw this. In fact, I might email this to him.

Studying for an exam tomorrow and the day after, but had to make a quick break to share this. I don't know whether I find it AWESOME, HILARIOUS, or just REALLY REALLY SAD. Haven't decided yet.

DON'T LET FAUX KLINGONS SEND REAL AMERICANS TO WAR, IT'S WRONG!

Excuse me while I die of laughter and watch it again to make sure I'm not hallucinating. :)

12:07 am - Scrubs!
Man, am I loving Scrubs.

I'm making my way through Season 1, and it is HILARIOUS. LOVE it. Especially Dr. Cox. That guy is funny.

Though can anyone tell me if he ever gave a reason for why he calls J.D. girls' names? I started from the beginning, and I never caught it.

Basically, I'm posting because I just finished episode 21, "My Sacrificial Clam," and towards the end, while running through girl names to call J.D., Dr. Cox calls him "Belinda," speaking right into the camera, and I jerked. He called my name! *excited dance*

Okay, completely random and silly post. I just wanted to share my glee. :)

Dude, the musical interludes? Awesome. Maybe I'll catch up just in time for the musical episode next Thursday.

10:27 am - More movies!
So basically, I have lots of work I need to do before I get back to school. Thank goodness for the 8 hour train ride on Saturday. Wow. I can't believe 3 weeks goes by SO DARN QUICKLY so that I'm going back up to school in 2 days. Argh. Work work work.

Back to school Saturday morning. Sigh. Exams. Crap-ola.

In random news, our old mailbox (which I painted) got taken out by a little girl on a bicycle. No joke. I come home, and I go, "Who ran over our mailbox and drove away?!" And my brother tells me a little girl on a bicycle ran into it. Sooo... we now have a new (and plastic) mailbox instead of our old wooden one, which I guess was so old that it... rotted? Yeah, okay.

Also, I got to dogsit for 2 days. She was a very sweet little mixed-breed (don't know what breeds, looked like possibly some beagle, some shepherd, and... maybe something else) and I got to basically have a dog again. :) I kept wanting to call her Tiger though. :( I want a cute cuddly furry animal.

Anyway, more movies watched. We keep having family get-togethers/dinners, so since the kids are always bored at these things, we just go to blockbuster and get 2/3 movies, since the parents end up playing cards for HOURS.

Movies. )

Also, I just discovered Scrubs. I caught a random rerun on Comedy Central. It's good! I now understand why many of my friends are obsessed. Need to start from season 1. ... Whenever I have time. (which will be not until after exams.)

And, My Boys is adorable. And really really good. The episodes are on the TBS website.

I'm guessing it's a bad sign when you start going, "Hey, that's [character] from [other tv show]!" EVERYWHERE. Like, Sheriff Carter from Eureka was Steve on My Boys (random!), the guy who played Hank on My Boys is going to be a multi-episode love interest for Bones, etc.

I watch waaaaaay too much TV. Crap.

1:43 pm - Movie update!
Movies watched:

- The Da Vinci Code:
Not bad, but not as good as the book (of course). Still regard Tom Hanks as strange casting for Langdon. Weird hair. It's okay as an action movie, though, I guess. If you haven't read the book. ALthough there were some things they added to the movie that made the story make more sense, like plot details about the police chief.

- Funny Face:
Old Fred Astaire and Audrey Hepburn movie. Cute, but kind of boring-- the music certainly isn't as good as most Fred Astaire vehicles go, and the dancing, Astaire's main draw, is minimal. Sad. I expected so much more from an Astaire/Hepburn flick. Well, at least I figured out where the Audrey Hepburn skinny jean Gap commercial pulled its clip from.

- The Phantom of the Opera:
Mmmm... Gerard Butler. I gotta say, as much as people/critics rag on it, I love the music of Phantom of the Opera. And I thought this was nicely filmed... I liked the dramatic touch of the b/w chandelier bringing the audience back into the color past, with the dramatic music, as cheesy as it is. Since I've never seen the show, I have nothing to compare it to, so I loved it. Yay for musicals!

- The Order:
Umm... okay. Yay Heath Ledger! Yum. That's about all I have to say about this movie, other than whaa? Religious somber supernatural thriller. It's okay. Second movie with Shannyn Sossamon, I guess, though I liked the first (A Knight's Tale) much better.

- Eight Below:
Awwwww DOGGIES! So cute. Paul Walker is cute too. That girl is the girl from Day Break! Disney formula, but it's much better than the usual. Mostly focused on the dogs in Antarctica, which was a goooood idea. Makes your heart ache if you love dogs. :(

- The Matador:
I heart Pierce Brosnan-- so good in this one! Hilariously, the gay subtext was very, very much present. Spotting the gay overtones makes for a great drinking game, as we've found (though without the alcohol). The three main characters? So screwed up. Great movie.

- Groundhog Day:
Aww... very very good. This was definitely a good movie, though I'm not that big a fan of Andie McDowell, nor of Bill Murray as a romantic/sexual... being. But yeah, what a great idea. You gotta love the way he changes and changes things up.

- Airplane!:
Old movie, but it's pretty funny. Sight gags and random stuff, mostly, that surprise a laugh out of you. I think the "what is it?," "surely," and the autopilot jokes were my favorite, along with the random gay guy. "What can you make of this?" Hee.

That's it for now. More later. Ta!

12:33 am - I'm home! Now I can do nothing but watch TV!
Loving this song by Beyonce. How awesome is it? Woman's anthem indeed.

Doesn't always make sense, but it's an amusing rendition of the 12 days of Christmas... )

So, I'M HOME! :) Yay for warm Virginia weather, too... 70 degrees in December rocks my world. Except it's getting colder for the rest of the week, but oh well. I'll still have the memories. :P

Let me know when you're all back, people. We shall have to arrange things. Plus, I just signed up for a 2-week free trial of Blockbuster's faux-netflix deal, so I'm going to try to catch up on as many movies, as fast as possible. Let me know if you care to join me/want to arrange a movie shindig/want me to change the order so that I get it when you're around. Here's my queue right now, in order:
List. )

Also, just watched a few O.C. episodes from this season-- SO CUTE! I'm seriously disturbed by the fact that this season of the O.C. brings me so much delight when I used to pride myself on the fact that I wasn't an O.C. fan. I think it might be the lack of Marissa that makes it so fun. And, of course, Seth Cohen. I <3 Seth Cohen-- I want one! *pout* But yeah, Taylor/Ryan? So adorable. So, for that matter, is the Seth/Ryan friendship. I absolutely adore it. I kind of want to see Season 1 now to see how it developed. Anyone have Season 1?

Hmm. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I'm like, oh, the O.C., high school drama, I'm waaaaay over that, blah blah blah. But then, they're already in college, and really, they're (very hot) 20-somethings. And we're still talking to and hanging out with folks who are still in high school. They're dealing with issues and problems and people that we actually have experience with, unlike cutting people open with a scalpel or having a shaky hand or having a vicodin addiction... Now that all I watch are Bones and House and Grey's Anatomy and other adult-y dramas, maybe I just miss some of that high school snarky drama to laugh at. Bitches and dorks and crushes and parties and classes and parents and... stuff. Watch, remember, and laugh. Or I'm just crazy and season 4 is just SO SO much better than any season with Marissa (which is very possible).

Oooh, for anyone who watches the O.C., that hot tennis instructor? He was on Big Wolf on Campus!! Who else remembers watching that show? Aww, I love him. That makes me want to go back and watch him in Big Wolf on Campus. I hope this turns into his big break or something-- he was so cute then... so hot now. :)

So yeah, yay for being able to relax and focus on nothing but TV and movies for a bit!

I'm going to keep a log of the movies I watch this winter break and see if I can break some sort of personal record. So far:

* Glory Road:
Obviously the Disney formula, but damn, I'm a sucker for feel-good sports movies. Especially ones about basketball-- my favorite sport to watch. And Josh Lucas has pretty eyes. And it's Emily Deschanel from Bones as the wife! *squee!* In summary: Love it.

4:50 pm - Presents!
Long time no see, folks.

Let's see. What am I up to? Work, tons of work, YAY I'M GOING HOME ON SATURDAY!, more work, some formal pictures up on facebook (yay, that was fun-- though disregard the fact that I have a drink in my hand in almost every pic-- um, it was the same glass of wine, I swear), anticipating presents, MORE WORK. Do you see a trend here?

So.

Can't wait to be home. Dec. 17th - Jan. 7th. Most of you I haven't seen in a year, at least. So, you'd better leave some space in your schedule for me! :)

On that note...
Leave me presents in my stocking! )

I need a boy.

But since that's not likely forthcoming, I'll settle for a huge soft stuffed animal/teddy bear. Big enough to cuddle.

There aren't enough cuddly people up here.

And I need to study like crazy for my midterms and write my damn papers and actually do WORK. Argh, why can't I NOT be a procrastinator?

11:56 pm - POTC <3!
MY POSTER CAME TODAY! *squeeeeee* It's pretty much this poster, but the print/words are a little different.

Remember those 4 boxes of Rice Krispies that I bought? That are pretty much still sitting there, untouched? Well, I bought them for the whole send-in-4-ProofsofPurchase-plus-orderform-and-get-a-free-PotC:DMC poster. Well, that was about a month ago, and I thought that my order had either gotten lost in the mail or it was forgotten. Or maybe they ran out of posters. It does say "while supplies last."

But IT CAME TODAY! And it's gorgeous. It's on glossy thick paper, and it's a decent size even. It does have a Kellogg's logo on the bottom left, but that's a small price to pay for the fact that it was free (well, sort of). Pirates of the Caribbean love!

Yay! <3! <3! <3!

And I do have to say, Orlando Bloom looks a LOT manlier in this poster than he does in real life/in the movie. More rugged. And his eyes are prettier. Mmm. Keira is lovely, of course. Captain Jack Sparrow... Mmmmmmmmmmm. Looking as good as always. :D

8:22 pm - Friday Night Lights!
The best new show this season: Friday Night Lights. On NBC, Tuesdays at 8 pm. It's such a good show!

Too bad the viewer numbers are bad. But why?! All the critics think it's amazing, everyone who watches it thinks it's amazing...

Clearly, people just need to watch it. WATCH FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.

Even if you don't like football (I'm not a big fan), it's such a well-written and well-shot character piece that I'm in love with it. If you DO like football, well hey, it's all about football. And, plenty of pretty people for those in the shallow end of the pool (e.g. Kyle Chandler!).

The premiere episode is on the NBC website for free.

WATCH IT. GO GO GO WATCH.

And yeah, school is school is school. Nothing new there.

Some new, some old. Some favorite tv shows, some cute pictures, some... just because I feel like it. :)

12:17 am - Rihanna!
Yay! Lawnparties!

We got RIHANNA! :) Of "Pon de Replay," "SOS," and "Unfaithful" fame. Good performer, and her dancers are awesome too. I think she didn't lip-sync, which makes me happy. She's a good singer, and her songs are great dance songs... I'll have to find the album somewhere.

Unfortunately, the Princeton kids tended to be a little too cool to make a big ruckus, so although pretty much the entire campus squeezed into Quad's backyard, many of them were the standing-around-looking-cool-and-not-clapping-or-yelling type. :( I felt bad, since there were so many people there, we should have been deafening. And it was a good performance, too!

Might have had something to do with the lack of alcohol being served, since it was an Alcohol Initiative sponsored event. More alcohol (typically) = louder party, less awkwardness, less standing around. Look at the Gunther performance! Prime example! Now THERE was a show! ;)

On the other hand, it is SO easy to get us wound up. All you have to do is mention "Harvard," or "No. 1" or any combination thereof, and the Princetonians stand up and yell and take notice. We're so predictable! :P

(Sidenote: Someone was selling orange t-shirts that said "What do Harvard and sh** have in common?" on the front and "They're both #2!" on the back. I had a giggle, but I would totally never wear such a thing off-campus. I don't even know if I'd wear it on-campus! This is, of course, referring to the fact that we are finally back in the singular #1 position!)

Speaking of singing-- check out this Russian singer named Vitas who is AMAZING. Watch, listen, at least wait for the chorus. Your jaw will drop. His range is INCREDIBLE. Random thought, but I love how there are Chinese subtitles-- I can understand the song! Yay!

In other news, classes just started-- I have to figure out which 5 classes I'm taking out of the 6 I'm signed up for, start getting back into the academics. Have to start major work soon too... Ack! But my room is pretty! I have awesome posters on my walls and postcards people have sent me up on my bulletin board! I bought 4 boxes of Rice Krispies so I could mail in the UPCs and get a free Pirates of the Caribbean poster. How awesome is that? ;)

10:58 am - LJ interests collage...
Whoa. Am I right in thinking this quiz uses Google Image Search?

And let me just say, what is it with all the pictures of butts, naked people, etc.?! When trying to change the pictures, almost 70% of some of the changes they offered were pictures of things I certainly did not have in my interests. I'm pretty sure "female bodybuilders" and "women in bikinis" and the like are not in my interests...

But hey, what's left is pretty cool. Though some of them? No idea what they are or what interest they're referring to.

It's so crazy to think that he's gone... the man is an icon!

Still, sadness.

BAM! As someone else posted, "Suck on that, Harvard!" MWAHAHAHA. Damn straight we're number 1! *victory dance*

As someone posted after that, we don't need to change our name to Arinceton now! Heehee! That is an AWESOME parody/joke article. :)

In other news, I've decided that my addiction has risen to dangerous levels and I need to stop. Cold turkey.

No, not TV. That's beyond addiction. Ain't no way I'm giving that up now.

CHAPSTICK. Evil evil product that has me slathering my lips with it every hour or so. And when I have no chapstick, I remember my lips being on fire. I don't want to calculate how much money I've spent on chapstick alone in my lifetime, but it STOPS HERE.

So, if you see me with cracked lips, frantically searching my pockets, firm your resolve-- don't take pity on me and lend me your chapstick. It's all for the best.

I hear that if I keep myself hydrated, the need for chapstick should go away eventually. Hello water! Goodbye addiction!

11:58 pm - Live to the beat...
I really wish Princeton had better radio stations. I come back and there are so many new hit songs out this summer that I haven't heard. (Though many of them have been numbers on "So You Think You Can Dance.")

Songs I need to get when I get back to school (music videos = fun!):

- Cassie, "Me & U"
- Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland, "Promiscuous"
- Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dog, "Buttons" (this isn't a great song, but it has a good beat, and it gets stuck in your head SO easily-- and video definitely not work-safe :P)
- Fergie, "London Bridge" (good lord, this is basically a combination of "My Humps" and Gwen Stefani's "B-A-N-A-N-A-S" song... ridiculous, but it's damn catchy-- and nice beat)
- Sean Paul feat. Keyshia Cole, "Give It Up To Me" (Some clips from the movie Step Up in the video-- yay!)
- E-40, "U and Dat" (Ha, another booty-centric song and video!)
- Snow Patrol, "Chasing Cars" (GREY'S ANATOMY. What else do you need to say? Also, gorgeous song.)
- The Fray, "Over My Head"
- The Fray, "How to Save a Life"
- Blue October, "Hate Me" (What is with every youtube video of this song being a fan video? Where's the original music video?!)
- Justin Timberlake, "SexyBack"
- Etc...

Yes. I wrote down Justin Timberlake. I have an excuse (sort of). I am not a Justin fan (not even a closet one), but his new song is SO HOT. LOVE. I'm playing it over and over again right now. I might just have to "acquire" his new album when it comes out if the rest of it is this good...

Ooh! And I saw "Step Up" the other day. It's a dance movie about the ballet girl who needs a partner for her showcase/recital, and the breakdancer who finds out he wants to dance, they fall in love, blah blah blah. You know the story. So the story is VERY VERY obvious. So who goes for the story anyway? You go for the DANCING! (Clips are in the Sean Paul music video above. Very cool.)

And HOT DAYUM Channing Tatum can DANCE. Rowr! That boy is hot. Um... Man. That man is hot. And he can dance. Major major bonus points.

So, basically? The movie needs more of those awesome dance sequences. That's all I have to say about that. I might have to "acquire" this movie too.

Leaving Monday to go back up, actually getting on campus Tuesday... when no one will be there, but that's okay... I guess I'll get to pick my bedroom first-- mwahahaha! (I'm in a 2-bedroom double.)

Too bad the two bedrooms are the same... :P

2:49 pm - Vrrooom.
So... my car is dead. At least for now.

I was driving my cousin and I to the mall yesterday, and I noticed that my temperature gauge was at the VERY TOP (beyond the red), and a little bit later, we both saw smoke/steam coming out of the engine. So... PULL OVER ACCCKKK!

At a gas station, a couple of guys checked it out, they told me to take it to the Advance Auto Parts next door. As it turns out, my radiator cap was broken (part of it was down in the radiator), there was almost no cooling liquid left, so they had to pour in half a tub of water, and apparently there ought to be a leak or something because the hose pressurized waaaaay too quickly. Or something like that. But they didn't see a leak, so they thought maybe the thermostat is stuck shut so that the cooling liquid can't circulate through the engine.

At least, I think that's what they said. I know NOTHING about cars and engines and whatnot.

Anyway, I had to wait about 1-2 hours for the temperature gauge to go down below the red, and then I had to drive home, having to stop TWICE along the way (for a normally 10-15 minute drive) and wait for half an hour when the temperature gauge went back up.

Basically, I was told that if I kept driving it while overheated, I'd bust a hose. And damage my engine. Great. My car is older than my brother (about 12 years now), so maybe it's finally dead...

What a great day.

So, I am effectively stuck without a car, because my dad told me to just leave it in the driveway until he could take a look at it this weekend.

Though yay for the Bones premiere last night! Love. Got my wonderful David Boreanaz fix. Caught the premiere of Justice afterwards, which was actually kind of cool. Another one of those Jerry Bruckheimer spiels (which I like), but courtroom/media drama. Pretty cool stuff. I might tune in next week.

Love Eureka. Unbelievably cute and funny and just yay. Also love Stargate: Atlantis. Love the return of the pretty. Joe Flanigan is my current desktop, and has been since June. Yummy. Yay Scifi. Love!

So... that's my sad, sad life. Is there a career where I'd get to watch TV shows all day? That would be an ideal career.
