And I'm posting it here so I don't lose it, but hell, sharing with you guys is cool too. I haven't made it yet, so I dunno how close it is, but we'll see.
Ingredients 1 tablespoon hidden valley ranch dressing mix 1 cup mayonnaise (the real stuff) 1/2 cup milk 1/4 teaspoon coarse black pepper 1/8 teaspoon paprika 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Directions
1. Mix all of the ingredients in a medium bowl.
2. Chill at least 1/2 hour before serving which is the key step to maximize flavor.
3. EDIT 4/15/2007: If you prefer a spicy, kicked up version of Outback Ranch Dressing, substitute cayenne pepper for the paprika - your spicy preferring taste buds will thank you.

As per my new year's resolution, I am posting my sketches from last week. I know I'm a week behind. I didn't think about starting this til last Thursday so I was already behind to start. But whatever. Here's the first one. Not all of these pics are from this week, I just threw them in to make it larger.

Recipe: Honey Mustard Chicken

Some friends requested this recipe, so I'm posting it here for anyone to enjoy.
Baked Honey Mustard Chicken
First, you'll need to make the Honey Mustard. I like Outback's Honey Mustard, so I use my recipe for that. You can use whatever Honey Mustard you like (Store bought if you don't feel like making it). This stuff is great on salads, sandwiches, and a lot of other things. So I usually make a small jar's worth. You won't use this much in the Baked Honey Mustard Chicken Recipe, but it's good to have extra incase you want it for something else.
1 1/2 cup Mayonaise (I use Duke's Brand) 1/4 cup Grey Poupon Dijon Mustard (Seriously, use the brand name, the generics aren't as good) 1/2 cup Honey (Doesn't really matter what brand, as long as it's not fancy flavored or whatever)
Mix the Mayo, Grey Poupon, and Honey together. That's it. You've got honey mustard.
Now onto the real recipe.
Skinless Boneless Chicken Breasts (Notice I didn't put how many. That's up to you.) Bacon (Generally use two slices per breast) Grated or Shredded Mozzerella cheese (However much you want to cover the breast)
1. Preheat Oven to 375F. 2. Place Chicken Breasts in baking dish and drizzle with honey mustard. "Drizzling" is subjective. I usually cover the whole breast with a thin layer of HM. 3. Bake Chicken for 25 minutes. Then pull out of the oven. 4. Wrap the breasts with the bacon. Be careful since, you know, it's been in a hot oven for 25 minutes. Pour on some more HM. Then sprinkle the Mozzerella cheese on top. 5. Continue baking for 10 minutes. Then you're done.
Sides: Mashed Potatos and Rice both go really well with this dish. I found that making the rice with a chicken boullion cube and some of the drippings from the baking dish is really good with it. Your mileage may vary.

Of course, being a sketchscraper, this is behind a cut.
These sketches were all drawn the night of June 11th. For some reason I got uber inspired. That was mostly from the song I have in my "Current Music" selection now. If you don't recognize it by name, you might recognize the movie that made it famous, Shrek. You can look it up on youtube and some people have it on videos by that name.
In any case, all of these pics, yes all of them, are from the Kaerwyn RP. Some characters belong to others, such as Renard and Niixa.
The first guy at the top, the bearded one is my character named Endymion. He's going through a ... real rough time right now.

Designer Wolves?

Got a bit of inspiration the other day, probably my mind is bored of doing same old same old avatar work.
Today, I started something a big strange. Designer Wolves, yeah, just as weird as it sounds. This first one is based on a landscape painting, of a moon overlooking a mountain/forest/waterfall. it might be kind of hard to see but the detail is there.

I don't know why, but I have had this huge inspiration streak, but I haven't found an outlet for it. For those of you who aren't creative types, when I get this feeling, I guess it's like when you really have to shit, but you're constipated.
...
I guess that's not a very good analogy, but it's how I feel. I've got artist constipation :(
I tried to push this out via RP this week, but it failed miserably. It's hard to get storylines going on Kaerwyn, and a lot of people bitch when we do. I swear I need a separate RP just to play around in, throw wrenches and fuck up characters (Ironically, that's what Kaerwyn used to be). Now Kaerwyn is too structured for that shit, and that pisses me off.
So anyway I tried to get out the creative urges through sketches, sketches of Lore really.

SL's Burning Life Festival

As I mentioned in my regular journal jakkal, I got a spot in this year's Burning Life Festival, which is like the SL version of the Burning Man Festival.
I really wanted to do a giant carosel with various animals we have for avatars. But with my being sick I couldn't get any work done to it. Instead I went with my backup plan, a giant DrakkoInfernis on a volcano. With over 900 prims to work with, I'd say it was a total sucess. Kayla was there helping me set it up and making the various scripts for it.
Because these pics are full screen size, I'm definitely... ( Putting them behind a cut ) |

Finished the cover for the next Kaerwyn Issue.
I was going to paint it more like Seregeti Sunrise and Souls Window, but sometimes paintings go their own way, do their own thing, make you paint a purple wolf instead of the intended version.
Oh well. It came out looking okay enough for the cover. I'm probably going to repaint it realistic style later though.

Incase that doesn't work, I have it up on DA too: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/37850927/ |

After finishing 17 gryphons, I decided I needed a break from things with beaks and wings for a while. I still need to do the anthro gryphons to match the Critters! version, but that'll be work for later. I just can't stand looking at them right now.
So Kayla and I talked last night and we decided to update the wolf avs. They've been updated once before, but that was a long time ago. So they're due.
So first things first, I made a bunch of new wolf skins. We've gotten a lot of requests for different colored wolves, so I made them. I went a little insane with it too...
Anyway. Today I was messing around with the face and I thought, maybe I should just rebuild the head. The old head is nice and all, but #1, it doesn't really look like a wolf. #2. It's kinda cute, a lot of people don't want cute. If they wanted cute, luskwood and lost creatures have me beat, hands down. #3. Not at all symmetric. Infact, I never really noticed how bad the symmetry was until I made the new head from scratch. See when I originally made the first head, we didn't have snapping guides and stuff. You had to do the math to get the rotations right. There was no directional guide. And my math is awful. So I pretty much eyeballed the head. It shows.
Anyway, here's a cute animated gif showing the changes made.

Edit: Working on the head a little and playing around. This is fun.

Okay so, Last night I accidentally ODed with one of my more powerful sinus meds. All the others I take require I take two pills, this particular one I'm only supposed to take one and CANNOT exceed more than 2 in 24 hours. Well I accidentally took two. They make me sleepless and jittery despite being tired as all hell. So around 5:30am or so I decided to do a painting. I started two others that I couldn't finish so I moved onto a wolf's head.
This pic was primarily fur practice, I've been working with new techniques lately. I also like to time trial myself to see what I can do in a certain window (as I had planned to go to bed as soon as my husband was home from work. Yes he works 3rd shift). This pic, by my standards is not finished, but I wanted to post what I could do in 3 hours, cuz hell I damn amazed myself. I hope I can remember how I even did this. To me it felt like 10 hours, yet somehow the clock said 8:30 when I was done with all the fur.
But keep in mind that the point of this picture is not to show what I can /do/, but it is to show what I can /do in 3 hours/. It looks unfinished because it /is/ unfinished. That's why this is a Time Trial, or a Speedpainting. You're not doing this to see your full potential as an artist. You do this to see how quickly you can do something and do it as well as you can. But seeing how /well/ it came out, I'm going to try making a really nice looking final version tonight. Right now it looks really flat, not much in the highlight, and the nose and eyes stick out (I tried to compensate for that a little but you can't see it at all in the smaller pics).
To be honest, I'm not sure how I did it. The 3 hours seemed like 10 to me. But I was drugged up, running on a lack of sleep, jittery and medicine-heady. In other words I was high as a fucking kite. Maybe drugs really do help people with art O.o
So I did manage to take a few progression shots as I went along. ( Lots of Pics )Current Mood: bitchy Listening To: : System Of A Down - Hypnotize

I took screenshots periodically of BT's latest cover so people can, kind of, get a feel for how I paint. Now people keep asking me for tutorials on how I paint. But I'm sorry, I can't do that. I just /paint/. To say that one could make a tutorial on that implies that anyone can do this. I'm not using filters or photoshop tricks when I paint. I use traditional methods and techniques - adapted for Photoshop. In order to learn how to paint like this you need to learn how to paint /period/.
That is not something I, or anyone else, can teach you in a tutorial. That requires years of study, effort and practice. So please don't ask for a tutorial. This is about all I can give you. There are lots of related tutorials on the 'net, such as painting eyes, fur, tree bark, leaves, etc.

I've been extremely busy as of late, which is one of the reasons I decided to take a month off of my webcomic Black Tapestries. I still haven't gotten half of what I intended to work on done.
But, I have gotten SOME of the things I intended to work on out of the way. One of the big ones was feline Critters! avatars (The "brand" name for my quadruped avatars for Second Life
We finally have Critters in Lion, Tiger, Leopard, Cougar and Jaguar format. We're working on the cheetahs, but we're looking to put something special in that one so it's going to take a little longer to get it done.
Next up to the plate? Gryphons. Yup. We're also going to sell these wings for use on other Critters! Avatars.
Here's some pics:
