Why was New York empty when no one announced there was potentially a bomb about to go off?
Why did Peter, who stopped the nuclear power TWICE - once just by willing it so (and no one really pondering that wow... seems like he's got THAT under control), and the second time - IN THIS EPISODE I MIGHT ADD - by just falling unconcious. Why then was he suddenly unable to stop it?
Sylar. Sylar, Sylar, Sylar. You have super hearing yet you can't hear a woman running at you with a parking meter full of change? You've demonstrated that you can take on multiple opponents at once. You've even shown that Hiro can't freeze you in time. So... WTF? You let Niki clobber you with a parking meter, you let Peter wail on you with super-strength (despite your widely demonstrated telekinetic powers that could've easily tossed him aside), you let Hiro stab you (even though you saw it coming and just stood there while he charged at you), for what?? I'm sure the writers will just retcon that to make it appear like it was your plan all along. But they made such a huge build-up to you're wanting to destroy New York. Sure, you've been cold and heartless all along. Until you saw your mom and confessed that you didn't want to blow up the whole city. But then, meh, mom's dead - why the hell not?
Predictions: Sylar will meet shape-changing girl and steal her powers. He'll become Nathan. Everyone will be surprised and amazed and happy. Peter, of course, won't remember what happened after he exploded. Because, while he can heal I'm sure a nuclear blast eminating from your own body wouldn't vaporize you immediately. So Peter would look suspiciously at Nathan for 13-15 episodes next season until the big reveal. Hiro will learn a life lesson in feudal Japan. Claire will try to save lives. Parkman will team up with H.R.G. ("Noah"?! Puh-leaze) and Mohinder (who will continue to be a pansie) and start a School for the Gifted-esque organization.
Jesus. I'm not sure why I stick with this show. Hiro and Claire are the only two people I care about.

And with it my hope that anything Whedon-related (Drive was a series by Angel mastermind Tim Minear and starred a few Whedon-alum) will ever appear on TV again. Bad, naughty FOX. So much for a the two hours of power on Monday nights. So much for Drive showing Heroes just what it means to be a well-written ensemble show. I don't think we're even gonna get a full half season. From what I understand they only shot about 6 episodes and all 6 will be aired. Sucks.
After a long dry spell I finally got back into hiking. Eric and Dusty and I went out and summitted Tiger 3. It took me a really long time to get to the top as I was (am) terribly out of shape. I could barely feel my right leg afterwards. But the view is commanding. West Tiger 3 is the next to shortest peak at 2522 feet. East Tiger Mountain is the tallest at just over 3000. I'm not sure you can climb the other peaks in the Tiger Mountain chain as many of them have been bought out by cell companies and the county. Still, I'll see. My goal this Summer is to summit the low-lying peaks in the Issaquah Alps, including Sqwak Mtn, Cougar Mtn, and maybe - by the end of the Summer - attempt Mt. Si. This is already shaping up to be an active Summer so I'm looking forward to high adventure.
Oh yeah, Livejournal. El Jay. Um, just so's ya know, I have moved. Back to Capitol Hill in a charming flat overlooking recycling bins and a parking lot. I don't have internet or cable yet at the new place but intend on it. I'll have a housewarming sometime in the fuuuuture. Right now I'm just so tired I can barely think straight. I still have to clean Mold Central but after that I'm done with that fucking place. Lesson learned: if your apartment starts to leak and it's something you did NOT have anything to do with, move out of their ASAP or raise Holy Hell.

So first full day in LA. I am staying here. It's pretty swank but the more I stay there the more I realize it's not THAT nice. My wifi connection in the hotel sucks so I've had to purchase a t-mobile hotspot account. Bleh. Which means I have to go to a place that has such service.
Weather is fantastic at 68 right now. Sun is shining, a nice breeze from the water. Real beautiful. I'm sitting in the Barnes & Noble Starbucks and there's a guy sitting across from me (well, two guys really) but he looks familiar. He looks old money... maybe a studio guy? Anyway, I've been walking from my hotel to the Loews where the market is. Healthy walk of about 2 miles. If I do this everyday I should be proud. :)
I made my first foray into the film market itself. It's every bit a zoo as people say it is. Overwhelming, exciting and ultimately dissappointing. I wasn't expecting some miracle at all, but I was hoping to at least make it past the second floor. :) Ah well, tomorrow the real biz happens as I attend my first conference of the trip. One on Film Financing. Should hopefully be enlightening.
So I got a call from the Seattle Film Office where I applied for a job. They liked me and I've been recommended for an interview (they chose 7 out of 250). The call wasn't to set up an interview however. It was from the director of the office wondering if my film aspirations might get in the way of the potential job. Basically he wanted someone who could commit to 2 years or more of service to the office. I, of course, said that wouldn't be a problem. Heck, I've spent 3.5 years at a job I didn't really want, what's two years at a job I do want? But this begs the question, what do I want? Of course I want to make movies. And I can still make the movies I've been making and maintain a job - not much changes there. But I think the question was geared more towards a basic "If you get offered a lot of money to make a movie, will you take it?" The answer is, of course, yes I would. But who knows when or if that'll ever happen. I have to think about me right now and I need a fulfulling job I enjoy.
My rental car is a Chevy Malibu. I don't care for it.

Okay, watching episode 1.2 of Heroes right now on NBC. Let me tell you what's bothering me thus far. If you haven't seen the show yet, don't worry. So the basic premise is that mutants exist in society and for some reason they are all just not figuring out that they have super powers. This one dude's dad discovered this and created a computer program that can find people based on.. uh... the "human genome and mathematical equations". Yeah... riiight. So besides like really bad writing and really bad acting (Ali Larter? Whuh?) there's like a shit-tonne of characters that have like no redeeming qualities. The dude who's dad discovered this phenomena just met the stereotypical cute neighbor. In one scene he finds a guy who's broken into his apartment (huge, of course, cuz it's New York and everything is cheap, even for a cabbie!). So the guy pulls a gun on dude and guy runs out of the apartment and bumps into cute neighbor and he drops his gun at which point dude jumps on him. Cute neighbor points gun at bad guy and guy runs away. Dude says thanks and instead of reacting to such a fucked up situation they do this awkward handshake and it's all cute as hell. Dopey doh!
Then there's the "bad guy". He's only the bad guy because the music goes to a minor key. I'm serious.
They just had a typo in the subtitles for Japanese guy.
It's not until the last 3 minutes that there's any sort of interesting development. The rest is just... uh... shite? Ugh... I'm gonna stick with it though. All the way through it's awful Garageband sample soundtrack.
Studio 60 on the other hand... it'd help if the show within the show was funny. :)

Good question. And even though I doubt many of you much cared, I'll clog up your friend's page nonetheless. I'm seriously considering enrolling in the Peter Stark Producing Program at USC. The application materials are due in December and I need to take the GRE - hence my question. Regardless I'm considering moving to LA in general because career wise things are stagnant for me here. In terms of advancing my career in film it's impossible for me to remain in Seattle and make any money doing what I love. My goal would be to move to LA, work up the ranks and make some coin so that I could bring that expertise and hopefully those connections back to Seattle to help jumpstart something. Assuming I get all my application materials in on time, etc. I should know by March of next year whether I'll be moving or not. I hate LA. I love Seattle. But I either need to move into a related industry up here or stick to my guns and swallow my pride (yes, at the same time) and move to LA. Stay tuned.
Looks like the closest and best GRE prep course also happens while I'm in LA, sooo... looks like I'm self-tutoring! Great! I hate standardized tests.
