| back to the old number! |
[21 May 2008|09:49am] |
About an year ago, I had posted that my waist has increased from 32 to 34 and that soon I will try to get it back to the old number.
Well, as expected, I didn't do anything physical to get it back down. But then, it's now back to 32 all by itself!!!

| Wanderings with Poetry - Preface |
[11 Nov 2007|07:54pm] |
|
All of us discover time and again that we do breath an occasional faint thought that somehow has crossed our minds, captivating us. And when we decipher that experience into words, we realise we have written poetry.
Many a time I chance upon little events, trivial realisations and vague imaginations that I feel to give a form by enunciating them. All the while, I end up roaming where I never been. I have learnt to respect whatever that can be thought, never to reject the basis for any viewpoint and never to denounce what cannot be personally embraced. Meanwhile, as I still continue to hear what can be written, here is some verse for you...
Wanderings with poetry is my second book and I see myself evolving with it. I have tried that the ideas that are splashed around here have a collective vibrant charm. Individually each of these verses may sometimes appear inane and simple but they together can turn out to be carelessly beautiful like a long refreshing saunter across the familiar and the unknown. Few are pure play with words, few others are mere experimentations and the rest are those hard truths that happen to hit anyone in the face who ventures out to seek his meaning. Hope you enjoy this collection, set in vast colourful Indian playfield.

| Save Nanda Road - Lakshman Rau Boulevard |
[21 Oct 2007|11:36am] |
|
The most beautiful boulevard of Bangalore. This road is right next to my Bangalore house in Jayanagar. The road is few kilometers long and there are wide parks (more than 20 I think) on either side of the road and residential layouts next to the long parks. The most beautiful place to live in South Bangalore (excluding certain scenic places in outer fringes of South Bangalore and suburbs).
The aesthetic value is immense. Many Bangaloreans drive down here during the weekends just to walk in the greenery here.
And there is now a danger threatening this place. A overhead metro rail is planned to come up here. There sure are other alternative routes over lesser beautiful areas. But these routes are not being pursued because it is cheaper to cut down trees across a vast stretch of greenery than to plan the route through roads where commercial shops are on either side.
Please voice your concern. And hope that it will be heard. This road was the vision of Lakshman Rau and this place is rightly called Lakshman Rau Boulevard. This stretch Bangalore is a social heritage site.

Elaborating on previous post, we (Harshad Kamdar, Yogesh Kulkarni and myself) won $20,000 for our innovation to provide lighting solution to those who do not benefit from grid power and for whom solar and wind power is not feasible.
One of the highlights was the visit of President of India, Abdul Kalam. In the few minutes he spent checking different innovations personally, one can easily figure out the immense knowledge he has. Also heartening is the growing involvement of likes of FICCI in India which organized the Knowledge Forum where the quality of discussions were considerably practical and good.
You can check our initial proposal here which survived to end up in the final 20 out of more than 2500 others. But now there are many modifications are making to it as we are learning on the go. Currently we are doing more research in finetuning our product and have implemented it on trail basis in couple of places. Later, we will start fabricating. Already we are getting few enquiries and even calls from one TV channel to take footage of the unit. But we need to further work more on it before our NGO can start to sell the units.
We will put all the design details in public domain, as we do not want to derive any monetary profit. I will be more than happy if anyone can use the design to serve better than us.

| 26 |
[24 May 2007|11:48am] |
It is 26 now instead of 25. Every year after 25 makes you feel more anxious of fast depleting time in hand and what you can do with it. It is said that if you target 80, after a point of time, you do not look at 26, 27, so on... but at (80-26), (80-27), so on.
Looking back, this year was not as good as the earlier one which was one of the best. But it sure was filled up with many events. But most of them were "somewhat expected" eluding me that excitement one enjoys sometimes. And there were many events that were supposed to happen but did not materialize. And I had to sit through days waiting for them to occur...
I am somewhat satisfied how things have turned out. I would have loved to play with fire more but I still do not know what to find dry wood to light up fire.
And I have reached a mental stage where I only have myself to reason with and only myself answerable to for all my actions, pursuits and interests and not furnish excuses for myself.
Nothing is more exciting than flirting with your own destiny.
