Live from Santa Cruz

  • Oct. 12th, 2008 at 12:11 PM
So I am in Santa Cruz, CA. Our flight home is at 1:55pm.

We got to the airport and the flight was delayed. Well that messed up our connecting flight in Houston. The guy at the Continental Airlines said that we would have to wait until 5 Texas time to get on the flight to San Jose. That would have left Carlie at the San Jose Airport waiting for us forever. The guy then said that he would check with American Airlines. They ended up have something, but he said they probably would have us not next to each other. I freaked, I had never flown before and was scared out of my mind. Well, turns out he was able to get us seats next to each other and it all was good. We then went to the Fox Sports Bar for breakfast and the proceeded to security and board. The first flight was pretty smooth but I did cut off circulation to Brett's hand. They supplied free sodas, juices, and water, but you had to pay $3 or more for a cookie or trail mix. We landed in Dallas and had some Popeyes for lunch. We then boarded the 2nd plane. This was a smaller plane and we didn't have an overhead compartment, so we had our stuff spread out through the plane. The flight attended kept putting my purse in front of the partition in front of us, under the first class seat. The only thing about that is I didn't get my gum before he did that and we were taking off so I couldn't reach it. There was a lot more turbulence on the smaller plane. But we made it safely. very pretty views both times. We arrived in San Jose and got on what we thought was the shuttle to the Rent-A-Car, but it was to the Long-term parking instead. So we got a tour of the large parking lot. We then got on the right shuttle and got the car. By that time, Carlie was there. We picked her up and headed to the hotel in Santa Cruz. We stayed at the Pelican Point Inn. Not impressive from the outside, but we had a kitchen and lots of stuff. It was pretty nice on the inside, just weird set up. We walked to the Aloha Grill. We had some awesome food and listened to a live band. We then drove out to the Boardwalk, only to find that they were closed. So we stopped at the store and picked up some chips and drinks and came back to the room to wait for Brett's mom and aunts and uncles. I fell a sleep at 8:15pm. but somewhere in there I came out to check on Brett and Carlie and my foot was cramped, didn't realize until I stepped to hard and hurt it. They were sleeping and no one had made it yet. The next morning we got with everyone and went to breakfast at the beach. Had my very first Breakfast burrito and listened to like 20 ukuleles. We then went to Brett's grandma;s nursing home and surprised her. Everyone else went to set up his uncle's 60th surprise party and Brett, Carlie, and I went shopping downtown. There were some cool shops there, got some stuff to bring home to my family. Then we went to the party. It was a blast. Brett will post more on the party. All I have to is Corn hole. We went to his uncles place after where I fell asleep on the couch. Now we are about to check out this morning and head to the airport. Hopefully we can get back out here again soon for a longer visit. I can't believe it is over so soon.

Oh yea, it was so cold here at night and when the wind blew. I did not pack accordingly.

Headed southward on Friday in hopes of time to spend with the CoE but was unfortunately thwarted in my efforts by happenstance or fate or just the way it seems to be once again. I had plans to check out what the smoking ban has done to my old town of favor but rather went by to catch up with the Bestest where I spent the rest of the evening later to be joined by our Allison, Christina and Deza, it was so good to be around them all once again. After the Bestest 's shift I headed out since I still had a ways to go to find the couch I was to be surfing upon but stopped by the Art Bar on the way out, the place was packed although there were as many people outside because of the smoking ban as there was inside and i do have to  admit that it was weird to be there and have that bar be smoke free.

Saturday after spending some time with the parental unit went about to all of my favorite places to be and what has become my normal thing to do while here, this time though Manifest had one hell of a sale and walked away with more ways to torment the girl wonderful with my eclectic taste in DVDs. Had a chance to talk with and hopefully plant a idea in the mind of the DNA nugget.

Today hang about the CoE is done with his daily toil and then heading back home to catch some time with the heart of my heart before slipping to the Ballantyne tonight for the 9pm showing of their weekly retro flick - Friday the 13th in 3D -

I can't wait I remember seeing it when it the first night it came out!

Tonight...or rather last night was most definitely an amazing night. it wasnt cheerleader night like we thought it was, thats actually Sunday... which is just as awesome. The park was COMPLETELY packed with people. The Funeral Procession at the beginning of the evening is always a good way for us to gauge the crowd and see how the nights gonna go and tonight did no dissapoint. My feet are blistered and ouchy from deciding to for-go wearing my socks and I should have known better: note to self: wear socks with chucks dumb shit. I decided to try some new angles of scares tonight and every single one was successful, my newest scare obsession is perching myself on the railing outside my "room" and basically Ashley is in this sorta caged up area, and she'll bang on the cage and go apeshit and distract people as they turn down the corridor through our section of the house, well, i got freaking tired of people being dumb asses and walking into the wall at the end of our section - when clearly theres a some-what lighted hallway to their right as they walk through the area....der... hello? So, I perch myself on the railing and for some reason - it may be a combo of all the fog, and the dim lights of the house that make me perched on the railing hard to see, so I'd sit and just mind my own business and as people began to pass me - and apparently thought I was fake or wasnt going to do anything, I'd scope the group out and see what the better area of the group was to scare and then i'd make my move - throw myself off the railing and bang my shaker can (a can I welded thats full of washers, b'b's and nails, it makes a really obnoxious sound and when banged against a ply wood wall - it scares people) against the wall, and basically do this like, slide/slither type thing along the wall and lead them down the hallway into the next room. We have a few select groups that sucked balls - but we also had a TON of groups that were so worth it, take for instance the group of girls that WOULD NOT GO PAST US... we scared them so bad that I basically had to follow them through the house and bang on the walls and be obnoxious just to get them OUT of the house. lol. oh sweet music to me ears - the sound of girls screaming and on the verge of tears.

I leave you with Three Pictures ) from tonight, and I have to say - these are by far my fave pics and probably at the moment, fav makeup this year... woo hoo!

I really should get more sleep I suppose. Around 1:30 AM I was playing around in Photoshop intent on actually working on some art. I just woke up from having apparently dozed off for ... four hours. Ick, need to take my contacts out.

I tend to grab images as I read through comic scans.  This means I end up with a lot of stuff that is nice, but I have no idea what to do with.  Sooooo, i figured I'd put them up for grabs.

Credit is appreciated.  And if you want a caption added or what have you, just let me know :)
