What to do with my X-mas Money... [Dec. 26th, 2007|11:00 pm]
Decided to buy a refurbished Nintendo DS and a copy of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Sadly I couldn't actually go buy it at a store because, well, it's the day after Christmas. Anything with the name "DS" or "Wii" is long gone around here, but it was still in stock online. But this new investment begs the question; are either of the new Pokemon games worth the investment? I enjoyed the originals well enough but I hear the new ones are rather more of the same. What say you, people of the internets?

Taking a Photo Dump [Nov. 5th, 2007|12:35 am]
What I look like in clothes that actually fit me for a change.

That's right. Decepticons for LIFE.

That and it was ten dollars at Wal-mart. My loyalty comes pretty cheap.

Speaking of cheap, Buddy Holly frames! My spare glasses.

The new additions [Jul. 6th, 2007|07:17 pm]
So, my piranha died last week. Not a huge deal, really. I liked him and all, but fish are never that great in the manner of pets.

Just the same, a moment of silence for Hannibal the Piranha.

Okay, that'll do.

With the old tank thoroughly cleaned, I got permission from my Landlady to get some pet rats. Everyone say hey to Raven(The dark brown one) and Starfire(The spotted-face one. Their both as young as you can buy rats.

SHREK IS TAKING OVER- [May. 11th, 2007|02:51 pm]
-your local McDonalds. I walked into Mceedees today and it was the most bizzarre situation I'd ever seen.

And let me clarify things here. I worked at McDonalds in highschool. During the years when they still supersized everything, the drink and fry sizes got bigger, and any time there was a popular movie out, we had to say things like "Have a shagadelic day, baby!" Working at McDonalds made you, by extension, a media whore. You had to shill collectors glasses, wear huge ass buttons with popular charcters on them, and not let anyone leave without asking if they'd want half a pound more french fries for 35 cents.

But today was like a new level of commercial whoring. Shrek 3 images were EVERYWHERE in the place. The drink straws were Shrek-green. They're selling collectors glasses. They have Shrek 3 Happy Meal toys. They have a Shrek-shake AND a Shrek flurry. But the kicker was every last employee was wearing a green ball cap with Shrek ears popping out of the top.

I'm instantly sick of Shrek 3 just from spending 20 minutes in McDonalds. The movie isn't even OUT YET.

And I think this is going to end up a cautionary tale for the media moguls. There's a point where you're getting the message out that a new movie is arriving, and then there's shoving that movie down people's throats until they gag on it. They did it with the Godzilla remake, Jurassic Park 2, and Batman and Robin. Those were legitimently BAD movies, but I tend to think the excessive whoring made people LESS inclined to support those films.

Happy Birthday? [May. 5th, 2007|02:57 pm]

Birthday's get progressively less exciting the older I get. I didn't even remember it was my birthday Thursday until I was at work.

I got my first real six-string [Mar. 18th, 2007|05:26 pm]
I finally broke down and bought one of the acoustic guitars they sell at Wal-mart. I'm well aware that First Act brand instruments aren't top of the line, but I just wanted something I can teach myself guitar basics with. I've always wanted to play the guitar and decided to finally shit instead of get off the pot. Weather I've really got the commitment to stick to the practice sessions, well, only one way to find out, right?

Michael is An Asshole [Feb. 9th, 2007|04:48 am]
http://www.fborfw.com/strip_fix/archives/002291.php

For those of you who don't read For Better or for Worse, the Grandfather in the strip had a stroke this year. Michael there managed to write a book and get it published in less than a year(Yeah, RIGHT. That happens allllll the time in the publishing industry.)I love Michael's reaction to his Grandfather's cursing. "Is he Crazy?" Dude. He had a STROKE. This pretty much epitamizes the quality of the strip, lately. Not only is that the most tasteless thing you can say about someone with a disability, it's coming from the same guy who ran into a burning building to save his manuscript.

It really shouldn't bother me, but it does. When I was a kid, this was my favorite comic strip. These days... eh. It's like every other character got smacked with a stupid stick.

Update on, well, me [Jan. 30th, 2007|02:43 am]
Been through a late of changes this year, and I remembered I can use this livejournal thing to do more than just read other people's journals.

The new things about me:

-Lost 40 pounds this year, making that a total of 70 pounds lost since I graduated from college.

-Got Contact Lenses, so I'm not wearing glasses anymore.

-Started cutting my hair shorter.

And with these factors combined, I have become...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Well, that guy.

My Night [Oct. 5th, 2006|03:00 am]
I'm at work, and I start seeing this red spot in the center of my vision. After a few minutres, I'm seeing grainy, multicolored spots everywhere. It gets so bad I can barely see what I'm doing anymore, it's like my eyes became a faulty television set. I go down to the medical center, and they draw some blood from my finger tip and take my blood preassure. They tell me if I want, they can take me to the nearest ER since they're not technically nurses let alone doctors. I wait about a half hour and the weird color cascade in front my eyes isn't going away. So I relent and a security guard drives me to the hospital. On the way, my vision goes back to normal but I suddenly have a growing pain between my eyes. The nurses have me dress down and I get wheeled into the X-ray room to get a cat scan. Later, they draw even MORE blood, from my arm this time. They hook some pads up to my chest to monitor my heart rate because they think my blood preassure seemed high, and the nurse had to shave part of my chest(OW). . Then the nurse says they're going to medicate me for a migrane because the doctor thinks that's what it is. This woman tries TWICE to get an IV into first my left arm and then my right. The first wasn't so bad, but it didn't take and blood went up the tube instead of the medicine going into my arm. The second time, she actually wiggles the damn needle while it's STILL INSIDE MY HAND. I wanted to fucking scream because it felt like torture, not because it hurt but because it felt so damn disturbing. She went and got another nurse who managed to get the IV in my left hand no-problem, though this one hurt the worst going in but she did it very quickly, and you know, CORRECTLY. Of course by this time, I'm clammy as hell and a bit of a nervous wreck. The nurse who fucked up putting the IV in felt bad and got me a Pepsi on ice(After the Doctor OKed it) so I couldn't stay too mad about it. She said I was a real trooper about it, but that's only because I was pretending to be tougher than I really was, on the inside the whole experience made my stomach churn. But the medicine in the IV bag did seem to help. Though by this time, I've got a blood preassure machine squeezing my arm every 5 minutes, an IV in my left hand, THREE other places on my arms that I'd been needled, heart monitor parts clamped to my chest- Christ, I felt like an old man. The doctor finally comes back and says my head X-rays and blood work came back 100% clean. My blood preassure went back down the longer I was there, so he says it's likely I was just nervous (Gee, ya think seeing dancing colors in front of my eyes when sober would make me nervous?) and that I'd just had a form of migrane called an Ophthalmic Migrane. The blood vessals in my eyes were spasming. He gave me a prescription and sent me on my way. Of course, the security guard the plant sends to pick me up goes to the hospital in Marysville instead of the Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine, so I wait for a ride for over an hour. I didn't have to get back to work or anything, I just had to pick up my car. It was a moot point anyway because It was already closing time when I got back to the plant.

I'm going to go sleep, now.

I'm Stinky [Sep. 7th, 2006|01:29 pm]
My Land Lady's husband turned off my water today so he could install a new water meter. He said it'd only take a half hour and it's been over 2 hours.

Looks like I may be taking a bottled water sponge bath before work.
