Azya's official LJ change FAQ [12 Jul 2005|10:36pm]
[ mood | dorky ]

Alright, I've decided. I'm moving shop over to [info]skogul. I've already fleshed it out and added who I feel I want to have on my friends list for now.

Some people might want to know the method to this madness of mine, so here's my official "why is Azya changing her LJ/SN FAQ":

Why am I doing this?

Because I feel it's time to move on. I love my amenonuhoko name and what it means (google it, lol), but I didn't like the length of it and the complextity. It was hard to type and I didn't feel like having people butcher it and such all the time.

Also, there's some bad juju around it because I spent a while trolling on this account so there are those who might still try and stir up some poop stew with me over the past. I'd rather put that behind me and move on.

That's basically it. :3 I'm going to try and make this the last LJ switch I make. As for AIM SNs... well... maybe it'll be the last of those too, I dunno. We'll see.

Lol, another SN change coming? O shi! [12 Jul 2005|02:15am]
I do this every 2-18 months. I get bored with my old SNs/usernames and change them to something else, which lasts for a while before it all happens again.

Well, that's how it used to be. Now it's not so bad... not nearly as bad as I was on AOL some 5-7 years ago, haha. That was something like a new one every week or so. x_x

I do cycle through screenames still, but less often and less drastically. :D

ANYHOW...

I'm being tempted to either switch my LJ over to [info]skogul... or, when I get extra spending cash, buy a rename token and rename this LJ to skogul (which is possible since I'm the one who registered the account, lols).

See, now this doesn't even really count as a new SN. I had Valkyrie Skogul as an AOChat SN once years ago... so it's technically an old SN I'm recycling. Good for the internet environment!!!

But I'm not sure yet.

So, on AIM, I will be playing musical chairs with my current SN (amenonuhoko) and my skoegul SN for now.

On LJ, I'm not gonna do anything for sure just yet. I'm gonna see if this revived interest in this alias passes or not before switching anything over.

Thunderstorms in your BBQ!!! >:( [09 Jul 2005|09:25pm]
[ mood | calm ]

So... we went to go see Nate's father per his request and got some shirts from Florida. That was cool.

We chatted and shit, went home... waited for everyone to get ready so we could follow them to Kathy's house to the cookout.

We got there, greeted everyone and went to the food. At first, no burgers were available, so we had hotdogs and other stuff, grabbed some Brisk Iced Teas and chillaxed.

I didn't really know anyone other than Kathy and her husband, Chris, so I pretty much stuck with Nate and his brother and mom for the most part. We ate, joked around, talked and eventually it looked like rain. We heard thunder and saw that the leaves of nearby trees were folding down and about ten minutes later, a sudden downpour.

Everyone basically huddled under the little party tent-y things and such until it let up. We heard from Kathy that it was okay to go in the house if we wanted, so Nate, Josh and I did just that.

We hung out inside for a bit, sipping sodas and stuff until it stopped raining entirely. By now, we'd been there about an hour or so and were bored from lack of people to interact with and things to do and since few chairs had been left vacant, my feet were getting tired and sore from standing around.

So, we opted to leave. We went out into the driveway where Pat and Paul were talking to Chris about his new truck and Nate alerted me to the presence of a tiny baby jumping spider on the side of the truck.

Now, I'm arachnophobic, but for some reason, I have no fear or hatred for jumping spiders. I think they're cute and lovable, honestly. So I prodded the spider gently with my fingernails until it jumped onto my finger. There, it simply walked around, looking at me, Nate and Josh, respectively. I let it sit there and wander my hand until we felt it was time to get going and Nate lightly flicked it off of me, which I wasn't too happy about.

Anyhow, we told everyone we were off and said bye to Kathy and loaded up into Nate's car to drive home.

On the way, I spotted something small and black in the road and Nate moved to the side to avoid running over a little box turtle.

I wanted to stop and move it off the road, but someone was behind us... fortunately, though, that person pulled off the road to get out and save the turtle, so all was well. Anyhow, we dropped Josh at the house, went down the road to get me a coffee, and came home to spy a small juvenile rabbit in the lawn. Nate crept toward it just to see how close he could get and got about 7-10 feet from it. It was so comfortable with his presence, it actually started nibbling clovers in the grass before some random stranger jogged by mumbling to himself and scared the bunny away.

By then, mosquitoes were coming out in swarms so we retired into the house.

The rain wasn't done yet, though. Within in a half an hour, another, stronger downpour erupted, lasting roughly 25 minutes before subsiding, eventually revealing absolutely cloudless skies. Go figure.

EDIT: Oh yeah. Teensy friends cut. Nothing personal, just cutting off the loose ends.

We're going to a cookout thing today, supposedly.

Which means I get to leave the house for something other than picking stuff up at the grocery store!!!

Also, [info]munching_butt tells me it's supposed to get up to 97 degrees in San Jose today. God, I miss that ridiculous dry heat.

All we get here is sticky humid 84 degree mold baths and thunderstorms. Poo.

Those were the days. [05 Jul 2005|01:08pm]
[ mood | blank ]

Lately, since life is especially dull and uneventful during the lazy summer days of Massachusetts right now, I've been thinking more and more about how I used to entertain myself when I was a hellraising little shit in California.

Gone for me are the days of going outside for the sake of going outside. Wandering the neighborhoods and the sprawl of San Jose's east side suburbia. Hanging out with no plan or care in front of the local 711 or walking down to the Great Mall to window shop and loiter all day or night.

I miss that. I miss just going out for the hell of it. I miss not having a preset destination or time window to keep up with. I miss doing things for the sake of doing them. I miss being free.

I want to go out and hang around somewhere random and just absorb life. I want to go take pictures of assorted things for the hell of taking pictures and looking for cool sights. I miss joking around and people watching.

This wouldn't be so much of a problem if there was somewhere to wander around here. Rural environments are not for me. Even going to the mall is boring. It's small and has little to offer besides places to waste money. It's so homogenous here, it's sickening. It's either middle aged GAP junkies and their respective progeny, or goth emokids trying to look rebellious.

I guess it all comes down to me missing California culture. Missing the stewpot mix of ethnicity and subculture. I miss all the skaters I used to hang out with, too. :|

All I have right now is the internet. And the internet is beginning to bore me. :|

A little jewel on the fourth of July. [04 Jul 2005|04:48pm]
Fourth of July. Does this day of independence have any REAL meaning anymore? Or is it just an excuse to burn things, get drunk and act a fool? Ehh, that's not too bad, really. Festivities are festivities, right?

Or, in the case of some non-Americans, is it just an excuse to seem clever and intellectual by trying to give, amongst others, Americans a history lesson and enlightenment on the degenerated state of their own country?

In the case of the latter, please don't. Not to me. Not to Nate. He and I are more American than most, but we probably wish more than most of our domestic kin for change... for a complete reform of this antiquated and so easily perverted system. We love our country, but not our government. We know what's wrong with it and we're not proud of the fact it's gone so far down the spiral of decay. I can honestly say that my Native American ancestors and Nate's ancestor, John Adams, would not be pleased with how their homeland has fallen.

The last thing we need is someone trying to rub it in, especially not on the fourth of July. Thanks.

I'm a retard. I changed the password for my domain's server after a guildmate/friend of mine on RO was hacked and has his password changed on him last night, but failed to change the login info in my configuration file for my site's content management system, so my site was down all night and this morning.

I ended up getting pissed off because I thought something went wrong for no reason although I hadn't really touched anything for weeks.

I feel intelligent.

On that note, I'd like so show you all what I've been doing during my most recent replay of FFVII:

It's foggy outside right now! [01 Jul 2005|05:10am]
[ mood | lazy! ]

I have nothing interesting to update with lately. That kinda makes me sad, but I don't really care that much, since everyone on my friends list has plenty for me to read and comment about.

Big news of the month: Nate's father was the top candidate in the country for this plush 180k/yr+ job down in Miami, Florida which he went down to do an interview thing for this week. He didn't get it.

I dunno what happened, since it seemed to be in the bag for him, but I guess it just goes to show that you can be the number one candidate and think it can't possibly not go your way and it still will sometimes.

Anyhow, that means that he won't be moving out of the area (which I was kinda apprehensive about anyhow, since that would mean he wouldn't be as readily able to help Nate out if need be). Which is good, but Nate seems to be a little more bummed about it than even Sal seemed to be, from what Nate told me.

Uhh... however, on the bright side, Sal is good friends with the president of Bridgewater State College down the road from here and the Dr. offered him a job there and said he'd make a nice offer for him (salary wise and such). If he gets that, since the other job isn't a possibility anymore, Nate could transfer to Bridgewater and go there for FREE. Not counting books and such. It's closer, has a good tech program, and it would be free.

I like New England Tech, but if Nate can get away with onyl 13k to pay off for his first year at NEIT and go for his other three years with no cost at Bridgewater, well... lol.

We'll just have to see what happens once Sal comes back to Massachusetts next week.

In the mean time, I need to do some serious artage... bah. Maybe later. D:

Ruin the repugs' shit - Save Public Broadcasting! [28 Jun 2005|06:34am]
The conservatives in the house and senate are trying to severely cut funding for America's public broadcasting organizations, such as PBS (and all affiliated channels) and NPR. This is a travesty and tramples on the very fabric of American culture. :(

I heard about this and signed the petition a while ago, but I believe I should spread it around so it can get even more support. Please sign this and pass it on to anyone you think would take 30 seconds out of their lives and do something to support one of the last intelligent, commercial/corporatist-free, publically-administered places on TV and radio in the country today: public television and radio.

The moveon.org petition, it's really fast and easy to sign: http://www.moveon.org/publicbroadcasting/

Stew beef. [26 Jun 2005|10:01pm]
[ mood | air conditioned and fed ]

We went to Nate's cousin's graduation party, although Nate was complaining almost the whole time about how he did want to go and how he hated Chris and all this and that, even if he rarely ever interacted with his cousin at all, much less had the chance to learn to hate him for anything at all.

It's okay, once we got there, we of course had to partake of the food and he wasn't so cranky and bitchy.

It proved to be unbearably hot, so we retreated into Wendy's basement/gameroom to chill in the AC goodness and watch some TV while sitting on the couches there. We chatted with whoever wandered through on their way to the bathroom or kitchen or whatevs, but that was about it.

After that, we did some job hunting/app. dropping at the mall and went home.

Today, we didn't HAVE to really do anything, but Nate's mom needed a spot of extra cash to pay off the insurance for Nate's car this month, so we stopped by Sal's to get it in check form.

And we had stew for dinner today!

It's really, sickeningly hot and humid everywhere in the house but here. Joshua and Nate's mom have air conditioners in their rooms, but they either don't use them or they no longer work (which I know is not the case for Pat, since we were using that unit down here earlier this summer). I guess they like the heat? Eww. I don't mind heat, but humidity is gross and disgusting. Blech.

Oh, and I'm finally using teamspeak on RO, haha. I was missing out on a lot and it's somewhat more efficient while you're playing a game.

Speaking of which, my hunter, Rakko, is now level 81/50. Huhuhu. 18 more base levels till 99. @_@;

Done for a friend of mine from RO ([info]exploding_candy), this is her primary character, Pyralise, as a transcendent High Wizard. [ mood | air conditioned ]

I had to go out with Nate and his father today, though I felt like utter crap. I'm not gonna go into detail about that, but we got to eat and Sal bought us a brand new air conditioner for our room, which is awesome.

He was gonna give us an old one he had, but it was so big and ancient, he decided it was more economical and efficient to just buy a new one at BJ's for like 80 bucks, so that's what we did.

It's in the window right now, and it's cool (literally). 8B

See? I told you.

Oh, we're probably having pizza tonight, which means Nate and I are having CALZONES. Ossom. <3

And here's something kinda cute, just for the hell of it...

Coal likes to climb up into our closet and sit on top of the wall (our basement apartment never got a finished 'ceiling', so she can do this without damaging anything), lol.

First, a gay quiz:

You scored as True Neutral. A True Neutral person has two faces- either these people are merely apathetic, preferring to focus their minds on more important things, or these people truly believe in a balance of all things.
