A Little Light

Now that the election is over, we can get to the important stuff. Why is there a light in the refrigerator but not in the freezer?

  • I must have a posh freezer, because mine does have a light in it. However, it is incredibly temperamental and also masochistic because you have to hit it for it work. Useful though when getting ice-cream out as an emotional fix and you're needing to give something a good smack.
  • Idk,there's one in both the freezer and the fridge,@ my home. Idk what's up with those that don't have that feature... =/
  • Because no one goes typically to the freezer in the middle of the night for a snack or drinks? Just a thought.

  • No one ever goes to the freezer in the middle of the night for a midnight snack. I mean come on. Who could be bothered to cook up something from frozen when you can have a swig of milk at 2am? :} x x
  • So you can't see yourself reachin' for the Ben & Jerry's at 2am.

  • what are you talking about? there's a light in MY freezer...
  • Since I invented the refrigerator a few years ago, I know the precise answer to this question. After intense studies were conducted we came to the conclusion that, when waking in the middle of the night to get a drink, the light in the fridge was very effective but if a light was also in the freezer more people had a tendency to try to drink frozen peas. When you wake in the middle of the night and only have one eye open just a slit, it is much harder to see into a darkened freezer then it is to see into the lighted fridge. In some cases, when the light was in the freezer, people actually got their tounges stuck to their frozen selection and woke up with frostbite.  The only time a person truly needs to be in the freezer is if they are wide awake and the kitchen light is on. Refer to the user manual that comes with your specific refrigerator for more information.
  • The reason for this is simple! No microrganisms live in the freezer! The microrganisms living in the refrigerator need some light to see what's moldy so they can eat it! Either that or the ice makes a good light by itself. Now that I think of it... What food do the microrganisms like?
