Half full?

Are you more of an optimist or a pessimist?

  • I used to be a pessimist before. Then I realized that being a pessimist won't do any good. A problem is a problem is a problem. Why bother killing yourself thinking so much about it. Change attitude... There is always light at the end of the tunnel so you just have to keep walking. What will happen will happen will happen. My faith has a lot to do with my changed attitude. I trust in the Lord that He will never ever forsake me. Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ” (NIV) So that whatever happens will have to be for my own good. I have experienced Jesus in my life. He made the difference between my being a pessimist before and my being an optimist now.
  • I'm a realist.

I used to be a pessimist. The drugs have helped. When something goes wrong, its not the end of the world any more. Fortunately I'm in a place in my life where I have everything and everyone I need to be an optimist: I'm moving in with Jamie, I'm getting married next year, I'm starting up my own business and I have a good relationship with my family.

However, this also means I have everything to lose.
  • I am more of a realist. Hope for the best, be ready to accept the worst. If the chances are bad, what use is it to tell myself everything will be okay when I have no basis for such thought? Might as well prepare myself for tragedy so that it may not hit me so hard and make me crumble into disappointment and sadness. I can still be relieved and happy if the outcome is good after all.
If I am blind to what could go wrong, how am I supposed to do something about it? God will provide... My ass.
    .
  • I'm in between. I believe that we need both to keep motivated. I am generally optimistic, which helps me get past things that go wrong and believe that things will not always be 'bad', but I also know that some times things just aren't going to be the way you want them, or at least there is a low probability. I try to be realistic with a hint of optimism for fun, I guess is the best way to describe it.
  • I'm a cautious optimist within reason.
  • I consider myself a pessimist that tries to be an optimist. This causes many fights within myself. I blame it on being bipolar. Oh, and the glass is near needing to being refiled. :P
  • trying to be a realist. but optimist's share dominates. ))

Optimist: My glass is half full! Yayyy!! =)
(My reaction: Why are you so excited about this?)
Pessimist: My glass is half empty. =(
(My reaction: Why don’t you go sulk in a dark corner about it. Way to be dramatic.)
Realist: I have a half glass of water. If I still need more water when I’m done, I will refill it. If I don’t need all this water, I won’t drink all of it.
(My reaction: You are a smart person with a great head on your shoulders! Want to be my friend!?)
