What are your favorite song lyrics, and why?

  • I have allot to pick from but i have to say that my most favorite are the ones from Lemuria by Therion because it kind of makes me feel like I'm sailing away in a dream and the concept of lost civilizations  like Lemuria and Atlantis have always been interesting to me.

    When the sailman's sailing away
He shows that the dream of Lemuria is true
A land lost he will find again
Hear the call from the depth of the anemone song
Do you dare to enter the ship?
Hear the call from below of an underwater world
  • "Thank You" by Led Zepplin.  Why? Listen to the words & you'll understand why I think it is the most simple, beautiful love song.

    From : Porgy and Bess
    George Gershwin

Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
    And nuttin's plenty for me
I got no car, got no mule
    I got no misery
De folks wid plenty o' plenty
Got a lock on de door
'Fraid somebody's a-goin' to rob 'em
    While dey's out a-makin' more
    What for?
I got no lock on de door
    Dat's no way to be
Dey kin steal de rug from de floor
    Dat's okeh wid me
'Cause de things dat I prize
Like de stars in de skies
    All are free

Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
    And nuttin's plenty for me
I got my gal, got my song
Got Hebben the whole day long
    No use complaining
Got my gal, got my Lawd
    Got my song

Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
    And nuttin's plenty for me
I got the sun, got the moon
    Got the deep blue sea
De foks wid plenty o' plenty
Got to pray all de day
Seems wid plenty you sure got to worry
How to keep the debbel away

    I ain't frettin 'bout hell
    'Till de time arrive
Never worry long as I'm well
    Never one to strive
To be good, to be bad
    What the hell
    I is glad I's alive

Oh, I got plenty o' nuttin'
    And nuttin's plenty for me
I got a gal, got my song
Got Hebben the whole day long
    No use complaining
Got my gal, got my Lawd
    Got my song

Because it is cliché but true - the best things in life are free.  The incredible miracle of nature, the sky above and the earth below are all breathtakingly amazing if you slow down long enough to listen to is.  Someone once said: “That, which you cannot give away, possesses you.”  That's true.  We cultivate fear because we become afraid of losing that which we have acquired over the span of our life.  But, we become deadened to joy as a result and, ironically, are no longer capable of feeling passion and joy in the possessions that we have.  If I can simplify things in my life, appreciate the daily blessings, and focus on what is before me, then that is truly the secret to happiness.
  • My favorite song lyrics are all Bruce Springsteen.  His way with words is absolutely spellbinding.

    From "Thunder Road"
You can hide 'neath the covers and study your pain,
make crosses with your lovers, throw roses in the rain,
waste your summer prayin' in vain for a savior to rise from these streets
Well now I'm no hero, that's understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl, is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now?

    From "Born to Run"
Wendy, let me in, I wanna be your friend
I wanna guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs round these velvet rims
And strap your hands 'cross my engines

    From "She's the One"
There's thunder in your heart at night
When you're kneelin' in the dark
That says you're never gonna leave her
And there's this angel in her eyes
    that tells such desperate lies
An' all you wanna do is believe her

And, lastly, my favorite, from "Jungleland"
Outside the street's on fire in a real death waltz
Between what's flesh and what's fantasy
And the poets down here don't write nothin' at all
They just stand back and let it all be.

Honestly, the last one I love because I am a poet, and it sort of strikes me -- poets, at least for me, crystallize everything down into its purest form, and when the poets have nothing to say, well, that's incredibly powerful.

Okay, so besides the Writer's Block, I'd like to tell everyone that I've changed my Angelic BB.  The Rossi/Reid is still in the works, but slower.  Over the past week and a half, I wrote a fic called Taking Ten Steps Home, which is over 10k and it's a Dean/Cas fic about...well, let's just say it spoils up to the first five minutes of 7x02.  Then it branches off into the way I would've liked it to go.  I also managed to not write a single action scene in the whole fic, which impresses me.  So I intend to submit that instead.  Also, I think I'm going to have to quit Poly BB -- I'm kind of uncomfortable with writing a threesome just yet.  But I'm still in for Angst BB, BB Mixup, BB Buffet, and Small Fandom BB.  And I think I'm signed up for a couple of others.  I can't remember.

And I am once again gainfully employed.  This time I'm selling (mostly my own) used books at a local farm's harvest season thingy.  I had my first weekend last week, and I worked 8 hours a day for 2 days.  I made $83 just on those two days.  This weekend, I might even be getting a shed for my stall, with shelves and everything!  It's exciting.  I've been working out in the open air with an Easy-Up awning, but all of the other vendors have little sheds.

Super, super excited to go to work tomorrow.
  • OOOOH, this is a good one! There are so many but i dont know about LYRICS.
Blackbird-beatles. It's been that song thats always been a huge part of my life..
All the lyrics in Bright Eyes Landlocked Blues or also known as One Foot In Front Of The Other.

"If you walk away, I'll walk away
First tell me which road you will take
don't want to risk our paths crossing some day
So you walk that way, I'll
    walk this way

And the future hangs over our heads
    And it moves with
    each current event
Until it falls all around like a cold steady rain
stay in when it's looking this way

And the moon's laying low in the
    Forcing everything metal to shine
And the sidewalk holds diamonds like
    the jewelry store case
They argue walk this way, no, walk this way

    Laura's asleep in my bed
As I'm leaving she wakes up and says
    "I dreamed
you were carried away on the crest of a wave
    Baby don't go away, come

And there's kids playing guns in the street
    And ones pointing
    his tree branch at me
So I put my hands up I say "enough is enough,
    If you
    walk away, I'll walk away"
    And he shot me dead

    I found a liquid
    From my landlocked blues
It'll pass away like a slow parade
leaving but I don't know how soon

And the world's got me dizzy
You think after 22 years I'd be used to the spin
    And it only feels
worse when I stay in one place
So I'm always pacing around or walking
I keep drinking the ink from my pen
    And I'm balancing history books
    up on my head
But it all boils down to one quotable phrase
    If you love
    something, give it away

A good woman will pick you apart
    A box full of
    suggestions for your possible heart
But you may be offended and you may be
But don't walk away, don't walk away

We made love on the living
    room floor
With the noise in the background of a televised war
    And in the
deafening pleasure I thought I heard someone say
    "If we walk away, they'll
    walk away"

But greed is a bottomless pit
    And our freedom's a joke

    We're just taking a piss
And the whole world must watch the sad comic
If you're still free start running away
    Cause we're coming for

I've grown tired of holding this pose
I feel more like a stranger
    each time I come home
So I'm making a deal with the devils of fame
    "let me walk away, please"
You'll be free child once you have died
the shackles of language and measurable time
And then we can trade places,
    play musical graves
Till then walk away, walk away

    So I'm up at
    Putting on my shoes
I just want to make a clean escape
    I'm leaving
but I don't know where to
I know I'm leaving but I don't know where to"
  • Didn't we have this question before? What's the different between your "favorite line" and your "favorite lyrics"? Pick one from my previous answer. :P http://abatheguy.livejournal.com/80698.html
  • "I don't need, anybody else. When I think about you I touch myself." Because.

I can tell by your face
    That you’re leaving me again
You don’t know what you want
But you just need some time to think

    I know it’s over
But I’m still waiting for another chance
    One more change of heart

Love is darkness when you leave
    Under cover of the night
To find another place underneath the morning light

    Oh, love is darkness.

Because love is Darkness, and it hurts, when you love someone and know they can never love you back. I want to hide away in the dark and dream of the one I love, but I know my dreams will vanish in the cold light of day.

  • I think there are too many out there that I love. And for me to figure them out for this would be too much. But I do love "thinking of you, i'm thinking of you, all i can do is just think about you" - mostly because this reminds me of a whole bunch of people that mean so much to me. let alone a few that mean a ton of something to me.
