So funny I forgot to laugh

If a friend cracks a corny joke, do you force yourself to laugh politely? What about if it's your boss or teacher? Do you get annoyed if someone else pretends to be amused?

  • If it's my boss, I guess I'd kiss some ass and laugh at the joke..... Anyone else i'd look at them like they were crazy....
  • i would always laugh cuz i like a good laugh especially from my bestest friend who is like a sister to me tell me a really funny joke then i'll have to laugh cuz gaijinaiIf my friend/sister is soooooooooooooooooooo funny like for real man. :D
  • If somebody cracked a corny joke i would most likely say that was lame, or laugh, or just be like shut up. I mean if it was one of my friends that said it. If it was a boss or a teacher, then i would most likely laugh just to show respect. Sometimes i do get annoyed when people pretend to be amused. It irritates me if someone pretends to be amused by me. I mean, if they arent amused then why pretend to be?
  • Well, if it's a friend, I'll probably make a face that says "No.... Just... No." If it was my family or my boyfriend, I'd probably say "That was retarded" or "That joke makes me want to kill myself." If my boss said it, I'll smile and give a little laugh. If it was a teacher that said, I'd say "You get an F on humor." No, not really. I'll probably do the same thing as I would do with my boss. I don't think I would get annoyed if someone else pretends to be amused. Heck, I don't think I would even know if they were pretending.
  • Nope, I just smile. They know I'm a quiet person so they won't expect me to laugh much. :) Well... annoyed, no. It depends on the situation really. There are times when people have to be polite to avoid bad atmosphere. I might even thank them for being supportive especially when I'm feeling scared and out of place. In private conversation, I would prefer to know their real feeling.
  • What's wrong with corny jokes? I guess I'm the only one that really likes them. I almost always get a chuckle or at least a smile from a corny joke. I don't get to hear them very often, but when I do, I love them. I get kind of excited when I get to read the jokes on Popsicle sticks and Laffy Taffy wrappers. Even though the jokes usually aren't very good, I still get a laugh out of them. I think half the fun is trying to figure out what the bad pun is going to be, then being amusingly shocked at how bad it really is. I love telling corny jokes just as much as I love hearing them, too. I'm probably the type of person that this question was written about. I'm always saying cheesy things, telling lame jokes, and making other people listen and participate in answering when I eat a Popsicle. I didn't know so many people hated those kinds of jokes. I usually get a pretty good reception when I tell corny jokes, but, then again, that might be because I usually make a silly face and have a big cheesy grin that amuses most everyone. Maybe it's all about delivery for some people. I don't really know. I just know that I welcome any opportunity to laugh and enjoy life, no matter how lame the source is.
  • Even if it is not the funniest thing I have ever heard, you have got to laugh at their effort:) Doesn't matter if it is a boss or a teacher, if they are making the effort to be funny, ya gotta love their attitude:) If someone rolls on the floor and you can hear that untrue laugh, it makes me disgusted. If you don't like it, or don't get it, just give a smile, it works wonders.

  • God, no I wouldn't laugh if it was a friend. I would tease them mercilessly about being lame. If I didn't love my friends I wouldn't even bother to make fun of them at all. As for the teacher or boss thing I don't think I would laugh or do anything. If the someone else is a friend that is pretending to be amused they get the same treatment as the friend that made the joke.

  • I actually think corny jokes are funny because of there lameness so I usually laugh. I think pretending to be amused is annoying if you're bad at faking it.
