Ok, so out of catharsis I started downloading anime again. I just had to do something to get my mind off of things...
I just downloaded
Canvas2 but I have no idea if that's a second season or the actual name of it. The animation looks nice enough and designs aren't overly plain. I've yet to watch that one.
I finally burned off
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's to dvd. It's a cute show much like it's first season the designs and animation are nice. The story changes from just looking for the jewels to having a group of other magical beings fighting for these artifacts. I've only gotten about half way through so far. But I really like this series. They've already started fansubbing StrikerS, the next season. It's strange to see Nanoha older and new magical trainees.
Himechan no Ribbon is another cute one that will never come out here because it's too old style for one and girly for another. It's about a young tomboy who meets a princess from another dimension who gives her a magical ribbon that lets her transform into anyone she wants with a mirror and a spell but she has to change back before it becomes permanent. About 12 episodes through there start to become those that are suspicious of her disappearing all the time. It's charming even if not super deep.
Beat me to Death Dokurachan? I think that's what it's called. Oi vey...I found it incredibly hard to sit through. It was cheaply animated and the computer flood fill backgrounds just really made it tacky to look at. I'm sorry the killing thing got old after the first 3 times. It's sad because her angel design is nice but you don't see her in it until later. If you're incredibly bored watch it but I'd rather see other things.
Death Princess OAV was incredibly lackluster. The art was ugly. The designs were rediculous and the story was cheezeball and not in a good way right off. A king dies leaving behind his only daughter and there is an invasion from this scientist who makes robot girls that kill people. They're perhaps the only well designed characters. The princess flees only to bump her and this bandit girl off a cliff. Just when they should die they swap bodies and stay alive. The bandit now in the princess body has to go chop up the bad guys. Yawn. That was deleted promptly.
I'm eagerly awaiting
Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne to download. That's one magical girl show that I really liked the designs for. The story is very similar to St. Tail but I like the aspect of possessed artworks. Incidentally, this came before DNAngel.
For some non anime stuff... I got the
Sonic the Hedgehog Box set since I thought I had a job. 9_9 Anyway...they say they're proud to use fan art for the covers and box art? Ewww...most of it was horrible. Look I can understand a gallery of it on the dvd itself but to use it for box design was a bad idea especially since they could have used the artwork from the VHS releases for the DVD set. Though I will say the menus for the DVD were nicely done. I liked the Ben Hurst interview but wished it were longer. The extras were ok but I wished there'd have been more here. Ah well it's a kid's show so you can't expect much. The series itself wow I didn't remember all those animation bloopers and inconsistent drawings before. But the story is really what drove this series. Recommended if you want a decent Sonic series to watch.
I could really use some commissions. Make me an offer via note. I think I'll do completely digital that way you save on shipping costs. But if you want the original art I can mail it to you if you want. I'd like to get at least 5 slots filled. So hurry to note me before they fill up.
