So I have been doing a lot of interviewing lately.
I stopped in to a media sales place this morning, and I could probably land an ad sales job with them.

They basically publish magazines for trade industries and then sell ad space on them. Nothing flashy, but I think I could handle it.

I got to thinking, why can't I do that kind of thing with industries I like?
There's gotta be somebody selling ad space for food/beer or gaming magazines or something.

Anyway...

I'm getting a lot of interest from help desk style jobs too.
I could probably get one, but they don't pay very much and the best I could hope for would be a steady job I don't hate.

The eternal question...



Do I try something new and see if I like it, or do I try something safe and live with it till something better comes along?

So there's a couple from New York in town looking for a V:Tes game either tonight or tomorrow.

Probably after 8:30 tonight.

So I interviewed.
The hours are terrible, the pay is terrible, the work is probably terrible.
But, I come very highly recommended from Ted.

I haven't even gotten in to work yet, and today already sucks.

So my old boss called a second ago to tell me that the night guy just quit.
If I want to work 4 10-hour days from like 10 pm till 8 am, I could start tomorrow.

I don't know how I feel about the whole thing.
I'd like to have them open a slot at 11 am-8pm, but I don't know if that's a possiblity.

They're tossing around the idea of temporary 3rd shift until the new people get acclaimated to the later hours.

1. I don't think it would be a step forward, but it would be a release.
2. I don't think Cat would be able to handle it, I'm not sure I could.
3. It's not really what I want to do.

It's freaking me out.

I wish I had some good news to report, sadly, no.
I'm getting to the point where I just want something anywhere.

I'm concerned about screwing up my resume though.
Apparently, I'm not supposed to have any gaps or any short term jobs.

I can't see how some 2 month stint at a factory or some shit would help my already slim chances of getting a job I want.


Grr. Is ANYBODY hiring?

I'm getting close to the end of this telemarketing rope.

So either I am a complete waste of space or the job market is super slow.

Despite my desire to leave the technology field, I am talking to Robert Half tomorrow.

So far I have signed with Drake, QTI and I'm spending about an hour a day looking for anything. I remeber why I hate agencies now. I haven't got a call in like 2 weeks. How hard can it be to find ANYTHING working from 11-7 in Madison.

You'd think I'd be qualified for something other than general labor and generic customer service jobs. Apparently not.

I'm now trying to find Hitchcock jobs too.
My situation isn't anywhere near as ass-bitey as his.
Maybe that will go better than my search has.

1 more day till the 4th.
I have no idea what we're doing.

The stitches are from being fucking torn apart.

So my second favorite person quit today.
That's 1 a month since we've started.

I hope to make it 3 by July.

I seem to have this talent for getting on ships just before they sink.

On the up side, I did see thegirl827 at Drake today and they remembered Ila.

So we had a "training day" with the regional peeps.
Sadly, I was signing up students all day and had to miss it.

I caught the tail end of it though.
It turns out we were lied to.

No big shocker.
Instead of the 4 days a week 11-8 and the occasional saturday, which I was promised, the want us to work 2 days at 9 and 3 days till 8:30.
Do the math.

Monday...get up at 8.
Work at 9. Get home at 6.
Tuesday...get up at 11.
Work at 11:30. Get home at 9.
Wednesday...get up at 8.
Work at 9. Get home at 6.
Thursday...get up at 11.
Work 11:30. Get home at 9.
Friday/Saturday...get up at 8.
Work at 9. Get home at 4.

So...if that looks like a 3.5 hour shift in everything every other day, you're right. Plus, we'll be working 2 Saturdays month and under constant phone and internet surveillance.

So it's throwing everybody out of whack, people with kids and spouses and lives are irate. Me too.

So I talked to Drake & Co.
I'll be interviewing Tuesday.
Most of my interviews are next week.

Anything to get out of this hole.
Why didn't someone tell me I am not allowed to make decisions?

1. Interviewed with Thrustwave on Wednesday, set Friday interview.
2. Stopped by Knupp & Watson for a film thingy, got a gift card.
3. Followed up with Thrustwave to confirm they wanted second shift.
4. Promptly had interview cancelled via email within 1 hour.
5. Was approached by TEKsystems about an entry-level help-desk job.
6. Blew off $8 an hour job from TEKsystems.
7. Was again approaced by TEKsystems about senior-level help-desk job.
8. TEKsystems guys appologized for not noticing my 8 years of tech desk experience.
9. Had my teeny little superboss babysit me for an hour while making pointless calls.
10. Saw two co-workers break down in tears no less than twice.
11. BIG FUCKING STORMS!!!!

I hate everything.

I don't even know where to begin.

I can't handle telemarketing crap all day and fruitless job searching all night.

Somebody find me a damn job.

We had somebody quit today, almost silently.
I'd worked with him for 2 months, he's been as miserable here as I am.
All of us are looking for work.

The online search engines aren't working.
TEKsystems wants me to interview tomorrow, but I think I'd rather eat my feet.
What the shit am I to do?
