| Feeling geeky. |
[Jul. 18th, 2008|01:35 pm] |
I'm sitting in a cafe, drinking my latte, about to go to the gym and feeling very grown up, lol. Not really, because I totally booked tickets for watching the Dark Knight again today, except this time with my sister.
I might even watch it again tomorrow, with friends! That's a Dark Knight a day for three days!
Yes, it is actually THAT AWESOME.
Also, I am totally working on something for the World's Finest Summer Games. Hyuk hyuk hyuk.
It's just awesome to be alive today. And yes, Jen, I would totally time-travel back in time just to watch this movie when it comes out. Life is good. I got my visa all sorted out too, so yay! I'm in such a good mood. |

| Yay! |
[Jul. 16th, 2008|12:10 pm] |
I totally forgot to post but I got my grades back from IB a week or so ago and I got my diploma! I passed high school - yay!
Also, I wanted to thank jen_in_japan, damo_in_japan and akoyamiazaki for helping me out with my extended essay ("Creativity within the demands of sequential, commercial art: How did the Batman icon change from one style to the next, and how did this define the character?") on Batman way back when because I got an A ;) And that's the highest you can get for that grading system. Which is weird, cuz all my other grades are out of 7 but this is out of A B C etc.
I'm really proud of this just because I wrote about BATMAN, OKAY. I wrote about BATMAN. Everyone else wrote about ... like, the comparison of themes in Flaubert and Ibsen and blah blah blah and here I was reading comics as "research". What're you writing about? ... Batman. Is that even allowed?
Besides that, I went to try to get my visa this morning and apparently I filled out the DS-158 form when I should have got the DS-156 form ... Yes, there's a huge difference. Really. I have to go again tomorrow. |

[Jul. 15th, 2008|04:33 pm] |
Finally got around to finishing off the last entry with all the sketches. :p Wow, I'm slow. Honestly though, it's the middle of July and things still haven't slowed down for me. If I'm not getting my meningitis vaccine, I'm running around trying to get my visa to the US for college.
Bleughguh.
Also, I can't wait to see the Dark Knight. Could it come out any slower? |

[Jul. 2nd, 2008|01:17 pm] |
Help yazzle break out of her artblock by telling her what to draw! Much in the same vein as the last drawing meme entries! Like this one! Oh, and this one.
Any fandom, any character. I'm going to take my time with these too, make 'em nice and pretty and stuff. |

| Hulk and the Romantics |
[Jun. 19th, 2008|10:03 pm] |
So, I went to see the Incredible Hulk the other day and I pretty much loved it. I mean, I really adored it. I enjoyed it so much I'm writing about it on my LJ! So there!
Bruce Banner and Betty Ross are officially my favourite on-screen comic-book movie couple. I don't know why, but they, Ed Norton and Liv Tyler, just seemed to click for me. Maybe it's because Liv Tyler looks like a real woman. She has curves and some actual meat on her, isn't tanned like a barbie, and is just so gorgeous. And Ed Norton has that whole deep-thinky look that I associate with Bruce Banner so that's pretty awesome. It was just so obvious that this guy was totally in love with this woman ... which is sometimes hard to believe in certain movies.
Other than that, I've been running around because of this art auction we held to raise money for the Sichuan earthquake victims. I auctioned off a few of my pieces and other people donated art, so we've made quite a bit of money and it's cool to see our art go to people who actually want them. The English department decided that they like my work because I took inspiration from Romantic poetry, so this one teacher basically beat my e-mail out of me so she could e-mail me poetry for commissions she wants me to do. I guess this is a good thing?
Also, my icon is my way of getting pumped for the new Dark Knight movie! They're doing it over at ontd, so I thought I would too. It's pretty cool. I can't wait to see the movie! |

| suddenly, men -- I mean, women! EVERYWHERE! |
[Jun. 11th, 2008|02:18 pm] |
Back from my hiatus!
( my entry for the project rooftop contest! )
Also, I totally want to write about the trannies/crossdressers (I have no idea what the right term is) that I saw in Koh Samui! Seriously, I wasn't actually expecting to see any because I heard that they had their own shows so you had to go to their shows to see them, but there were a few who would stand outside said shows in like ... full ... costume, I guess? Like tons of glitter and these huge feathery head things. So awesome!
It was totally hilarious because we were passing by at one point, and I thought they were women and then one of them says, "hello" in the deepest voice you've ever heard.
Some friends went to see it and apparently they dance around while lip-synching. There's a video on facebook and I seriously can't tell that they're men. They move like women, honestly, so it's really hard to tell. One of them is dressed like Christina Aguilera from the Lady Marmalade video and I could almost say he looks better than the real thing! :p
Now, to somehow think of a way to involve trannies in a S/B fic ... *ponders*
Anyway, the trannies are cool. You've got to be careful when it comes to the strip clubs though because apparently they do things with ping pong balls ... and darts ... and um .. daisy chains. Seriously, my friends didn't know where they were going (though the place was called "Super Pussy" ... seriously, how do you miss that?) and now they're all scarred for life. |

As of today, this journal is on hiatus! I've got exams coming up and all kinds of stuff to do. Knowing me, I'll have trouble staying away from livejournal, but I'm going to try my best to work.
See you all in May! |

[Dec. 28th, 2007|06:09 pm] |
For Christmas, I got myself that 12-inch Superman/Clark Kent action figure. Did anyone else get him? What the hell are those little black tube things that come with his Clark Kent outfit? I've never had one of these and I feel like I should KNOW HOW TO DO THIS but I totally don't. I have a sneaking suspicion they're his socks ... which is just ... unreasonably cute.

Yeah, they're his socks. My god, this is so complicated! I have to do the buttons on his jacket! AGH, THIS IS SO ADORABLE. *dies from Clark Kent cuteness* ... *tucks his shirt in OMG SO CUTE*
( all dressed up! )
And this reminds me! Thank you very much to houseofel for the lovely Christmas card. It's very pretty. ;) And to yamapea too! LOL at the cute little stickers. ;) |

[Dec. 25th, 2007|11:15 am] |
| [ | Current Music |
| | Needle in the Hay - Elliot Smith | ] | A very Merry Christmas to my friends list. :) I hope everyone's safe and warm. I'm lacking in the Christmas spirit personally, this year. I blame my workload. It's weird though, because this is the first year in about 9 years that my entire family is together for once. :\ I don't honestly know how to feel about it. It's kind of weird, I guess? Why am I so lame?
PRESENTS!! :D *flails and runs away*
In other news, I finished my Yale application. Suck on it, Yale! |

[Dec. 15th, 2007|11:11 pm] |
This weekend was supposed to be me rushing to finish tons of work that is due on Monday but I had my English oral exam today, which means I had to do a commentary on a passage or extract of a poem. I was all prepared for the poetry! I was like, "bring on the poetry!" and wouldn't you know it, I get the prose ... and the first thing I said when I saw my teacher right before my oral was something along the lines of, "um ... the title is Running ... in the ... Family, right?" Needless to say, she was kind of a little disturbed by this statement. I basically winged my oral exam. I lose!
Because of this, I went out with my friends and drowned my sorrows in a giant lunch. So giant that I was unable to eat dinner tonight. Yes, you can say, I'm disgusting. (But it was sooo good). I had a milkshake! :)
Also,
( A very belated birthday gift for cmer aka Tina!! :) )
Also, I'm thinking I'm going to start tagging these happy birthday art posts. Just for kicks! |

| : | WHAT THE HELL, LIFE. |
[Dec. 9th, 2007|05:12 pm] |
I am eight more days of school, two oral exams, one math project, one art exhibition and one college application away from Christmas holidays. Start sooner you, you stupid holiday! I'm sick of working. On the brighter side, I was able to send in a test oral commentary for English for some useful critique. I also finished my Christmas cards! :) I'll be sending those out first thing on Monday.
ARGGHH. This week was just ... pretty unbearable. I had work due every day and on Friday I went to a beach with my science class to collect data ... on what, I have no idea but whatever. Science. Pfft, who needs it. All I know is that data means I have to write a report on it and I suck at writing those things.
Also, am working on my portfolio and finally getting some pieces together. I'm working on an ink piece right now that ... should actually be finished by the end of this week because it's for my lame art exhibition at school. :| SLOW DOWN, LIFE.
Aaand. I just realized I haven't seen a movie since Hairspray was released in Hong Kong right before school started. ): I suck and school sucks. I'm SO going to go see Persepolis.
It is my destiny. *pumps fist*
edit Also, Ian Churchill is the only artist I know of who basically gives both his women and men the same face. ): |

| Christmas cards! Also, pants. |
[Nov. 28th, 2007|07:05 pm] |
I am supposed to be working on this math project but instead ... nevermind! I've had this on my mind all day and decided to go ahead and do it, even though it's basically suicide with my workload right now.
Who wants a Christmas card from me? :) Comments are screened if you're interested! And if you want to send me one (ha! I'm shameless), I'll gladly give you my address. :B
Also, check it out - I got Best Use of Pants over at Project Rooftop on my Wonder Woman design. :) Hee. I can't help but giggle a little bit. Best use of pants. I should make a t-shirt of that. And maybe have an arrow pointing down towards my pants. Hehee. I'm such a loser. |

| Hilarious JL comic |
[Nov. 23rd, 2007|11:20 am] |
My economics teacher is sick and my sub teacher isn't here ... and the SUB-sub teacher has three classes to cover so I'm sitting in the library slacking. I'm supposed to be working on my econ commentaries but instead I'm browsing deviantart.
Anyway, I found this awesome JLA comic and it's HILARIOUS. It involves Amazonian menstrual cycles. It will brighten your day. ;D |

| doo dee doo |
[Nov. 19th, 2007|09:07 pm] |
Well, for anyone who's interested, I finished my redesign of Wonder Woman's costume for the Wonder Woman Wardrobe War over at Project Rooftop! I haven't entered a art competition like this one since ... um, I was like ... 10 and I painted an easter egg. I won though! It was a bunch of stripes with a yellow smiley face in the middle. :/ I won a bunny. LOL. Yeah, can you tell I'm nervous about entering this? I keep thinking 'I'm not a real artist. I'm not cool enough to be doing this'. It's not like I have any concept of design or um ... anything. I'm just some loser who likes to draw. Bzuh?
Besides that, I've been trying to keep up with work but I find myself procrastinating so much. It's terrible. I really just want to sit down and draw and create and ... AGhgh, but I can't. Because I know I should be working on college apps or my art portfolio ... or economics ... or something. So, I'm constantly struggling between the two and really not getting much done anyway! Lame, right?
Also, is anyone watching Pushing Daisies? Surely there is nothing cuter on television right now. The main character is so tall. And a pie-maker! Also, main character - tall. Very tall. And cute. Did I mention he's tall? I love tall guys. Maybe it's because half the male population in Hong Kong are shorter than me. But, you know, Pushing Daises makes it all better.
And you know what comic I've been reading which is turning out fabulous and lovely? Thor. It's random, because I had absolutely no interest in this character and the only reason I picked up the comic was because of the artist, but it's a pretty solid comic book. I'm pretty much falling in love with the characters. I love their outfits.
Yes! I've finally ordered New Frontier. I couldn't find it anywhere in Hong Kong. ): But yessss. Finally. |

| excitement! |
[Nov. 10th, 2007|11:35 pm] |
Okay, so it's official - nothing is cooler than having part of the Batman movie filmed in your city. I didn't catch sight of the man himself, but I sure as hell saw the media frenzy surrounding him and Morgan Freeman.
Eeee! I love Bale in the press conference, when he's like, "I look forward to climbing your highest buildings and jumping off of them". LOL, I'm looking forward to it too, Christian. <3
I have a feeling that Hong Kong's going to look amazing with all the lights and stuff. IFC 2, the tower that Batman is on the roof of, is going to look so awesome!!
I was actually in SoHo when they started filming because of my friend's birthday. And then later that night when we went clubbing, I had a small, feeble hope that Bale would be wandering around, all jetlagged and stuff, with his adorable wife.
Sigh. I'm so lame. |
