Another CL Update [Dec. 21st, 2007|01:22 pm]
•Expired accounts are turned on for the holidays. Merry Christmas!

Maybe Joe will be true to his word this time! Hopefully I'll see some of you old-timers around. ;)

Clanlord! [Nov. 22nd, 2007|04:37 pm]
I know I have a lot of old CLers on my friends list...

Joe apparently reactivated all the accounts for this week, so if you wanted to come out and spend some library ranks, now is the time! ;) It's CL's 10-year anniversary (update #520), so apparently there will be some "celebrations", though there haven't actually been any yet... heh.

A long awaited update... [Jun. 1st, 2007|06:05 pm]
[music |Newgrange]

First of all, you should all go vote in this poll. If you don't want to spend the time to figure out what it's about, you can just vote for me, I won't tell. ;)

Basically, I kept telling myself that I should update. At the beginning of the semester, I should at *least* tell about what classes I'm taking. At the middle, maybe a little overview of what I'm taking.

Well, now we're to the end, so I get to sum things up!

Summation )

So now it's the summer. Work, play, hopefully get out of the apartment occasionally.

Graduation party tomorrow. Too bad none of my friends want to go. ::cry::

It's a Christmas Miracle! [Dec. 23rd, 2006|10:05 am]
For some strange and crazy reason, I got a B in my Particle Physics class.

Yes, this was after the travesty that was the final exam, where I put down no actual answer for questions 2, 3, *and* 4. The exam was only four questions long.

Apparently the Grinch who Stole Physics (Carlsmith) grew a heart after all. That, or he mis-marked my grade and I'm just lucky.

I guess a B *is* failing for graduate courses...

(I expect Scott got an A and Sean an AB, through blind speculation.)

GREs [Dec. 12th, 2006|10:37 pm]
Took the GRE today. We get back our Verbal and Quantitative scores right away, but we have to wait about two weeks for them to grade our Analytical (essay) questions.

Verbal: 660
Quantitative: 800

(Probably doesn't mean a whole lot to many of you, but it's out of 800 points.)

Haven't gotten back my Physics Subject GRE scores back, however... we should be receiving them any day now. Nervous about those. Mmrmph.

Ok, back to many hours of homework.

Happy Birthday To Me [Dec. 6th, 2006|07:39 pm]
As you may or may not know, I have a birthday coming up.

On December 10th, I turn 22. Huzzah!

(I feel old, bah!)

I haven't done anything "exciting" for my birthday for many years. So this year I thought I would! I decided that I really wanted to go play Laser Tag, something I haven't done in a good long while.

But now I have to figure out a good day to do it. Fridays and Sundays are not good at the place (Sundays close early, on Fridays I can't use this coupon I have...), and I have an exam on the evening of the 20th. Other than that, I'm good to go when other people are, as I'm really excited to do this no matter what.

Hours at Ultrazone are:
Tuesday - Thursday 4 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. - midnight

I have two different coupons for this place, too. One is a "Buy One Game, Get One Free" for up to 6 players. Another is "Unlimited Play from 5pm to Close" for $15 a person, up to 6 people. Otherwise, prices are $7.25 a game.

I would like to play as much as possible, myself, which would mean the $15 'til close... as many games as I can get in! I wouldn't make anyone else stay if they didn't want to... but you know it's going to be fun.

This place sounds awesome. )

This weekend is coming up rather fast, and since I'd like to give all y'all enough time to make sure you can come, we'll do it sometime after that. I am personally in favor of Saturday the 16th. It's before exams start and after classes end... the perfect time for Laser-Tagging!

Leave a comment if you want to come or if you'd rather have a different day than the 16th.

A Plea to my Wisconsin Friends [Nov. 7th, 2006|01:49 pm]
Vote today! There is no reason not to be voting, polls are open until 8pm and it only takes 20 minutes max to vote. That includes registering to vote, which you can do at the polls (which Josh and I just did).

And vote *NO* on the Gay Marriage Ban Amendment. Please. We have a chance to be the first state *not* to write discrimination into the State Constitution!

Return of THE CLAW! [Oct. 17th, 2006|04:33 pm]
Our story starts off back in the chilly month of February. Having recently got our "wonderful" and "lovely" cat Kilala, we were required to get her declawed (by apartment regulations and Josh's decree). While she liked it none at all, the declawing was supposedly successful.

But it just wouldn't be a story if these things worked out well, now would it?

About two months later, Josh discovered a surprise. Kilala, in all her amazingness, had managed to regrow a claw. Wonderful. Kilala was, of course, very proud of her accomplishment, and she would often extend and lick it in front of us. Well, that had to stop!

So we took her in again. The vet reopened all the partially healed claws to make sure she didn't have any other claws regrowing. She apparently did, but they scraped those bits out as well as re-removing the claw that had regrown.

We thought that was that. Everything healed up nice, we were all happy.

... until a few weeks ago. Josh found another surprise - another claw! Dear lord, where do these things keep coming from? As a nice bonus, Kilala had a nice weeping sore above where the claw was. Apparently the bed of the claw was infected and draining out of the top of the paw. So we took her in again.

I brought her in last Thursday. They removed the new claw and sutured everything up on Friday. Saturday, I got to bring her back. She wasn't very happy. This time we actually had to keep her little hood-collar on so that she wouldn't rip open her sutures.

... of course, since it was a soft hood, she ended up getting around it anyway. Huzzah.

So I just took her in again now so they could look at it. She got her wound stapled closed, and she also got a nice hard plastic cone instead. Poor Kilala.

To top it all off, she's been refusing to use her litter box. First I thought it was because there was the top on it that she couldn't get through with the hood. So we took it off. Still didn't use it. Then I thought it was because we were using shredded newspaper. Changed to her regular litter... but she still won't use it. Argh. She's peed on the floor, on the bed ($100 to replace the comforter and pillowtop) and on her kitty bed (her favorite, too). Argh. I just don't know what to do.

Pictures! )

Drat, I still need to get Amy's birthday present.

A Day at the PreRelease [Jul. 8th, 2006|03:58 pm]
Well, today was the Coldsnap Prerelease. Coldsnap is the newest expansion for Magic: The Gathering, for all those non-enlightened people out there. :P

I woke up at 7:30, was picked up by Matt D at 8:20, and we got to Misty Mountain (a gaming store) a bit before they opened.

I opened up all the new cards, and *I* thought I had quite a nice pool for the prerelease tournament. I, of course, was wrong.

In four long, long rounds, I ended up going 1-2-1... much worse than I thought I would. Le sigh. The matches, however, all were quite fun, some going down to the last minutes of the round. The fun plus the cards were worth the fee.

The person I was matched against the fourth round (wooh for the 0-2-1 bracket...) was quite cute, though. Pretty sure he was gay, too. That, or just a bit flamboyant, heh. Not many cute magic-playing guys, too many fat smelly ones. ::mutters::

I had to take the bus back to the apartment, as Matt was staying for another round (which would've meant I would get back around 7 or 8, argh). The bus driver thought I was under 18, but I corrected him... almost got the Youth discount. ;) Do I really look 4 years younger than I actually am? Hopefully this keeps up for the rest of my years!

It takes <20 minutes to get to Misty by car, but it took an hour to get back by bus. Erugh.

Well, I guess that's good enough for one update.

Not What You Think [Jun. 28th, 2006|05:23 pm]
I totally got a boy's number at the gym today.

Oh, and someone stole our hamper out of the laundry room yesterday. How hard up do you have to be to steal someone's hamper?

Prolific... for a few days. [Jun. 11th, 2006|05:12 pm]
Mmrm, yes. I don't update this much, do I?

Needless to say, I've had lots of good times (most of which are already forgotten, sigh), such as going to Sam's birthday party, which was awesome. We went to Chuck E Cheese, I mooched tokens off of everyone else, and I managed to get the high score on pinball! Wooh! Then we played our own little "Who's Line is it Anyway" improv, which was also a lot of fun.

Last night friends came over, and we played Scrabble and Hearts. Good times... people have to come over more often than once a fortnight. ;P

Josh has been at some cabin with his friends for 6 days now. It's nice to have the place by myself sometimes, but it's time for him to come back. ::grins:: I should probably clean the apartment at least a little so he doesn't kill me when he gets back here. Hrm.

The Josh-free apartment has allowed me to do a whole lot of composing - six tunes in six days! Huzzah. Anything to show up Coriakin... but while lately I've been churning out quantity, he's been putting together quality, which beats mine anyway. Sigh!

I even used some of Sareth's lyrics he sent me ages (nearly two years) ago when we were going to do the Battle of the Bards.

But now I'm hungry. Food time!

Since when did I move to New Orleans? [May. 24th, 2006|06:43 pm]
From calm evening to hurricane-like weather in about 30 seconds.

A torrential rain started, with blasting winds. I couldn't even see out the windows because the rain and wind just plastered them. It's let up a *tiny* bit for the moment, but it's still coming down pretty hard. Mmm. I love looking out at storms. I'm just glad I'm not out in it.

... and now it's over and the sun has come out. Weird.

Core Four Reunion Special [May. 21st, 2006|01:24 pm]
The Seven Nations concert last night rocked.

I'm not a big fan of concerts in general - well, I dislike the large amounts of noise *not* coming from the band - but it was lots of fun. I'm glad I got invited, 'twas a good time.

Reading the cards to the Core Four game brought back a lot of memories too.

Too bad they couldn't stay to do anything today... Muskego people are going to have to come up again some other day this summer!

The Waiting Game [May. 16th, 2006|05:13 pm]
Stupid graders. I wait and wait, and my Psych grade isn't in yet. It was a scantron, for gods' sake, it's not like they're doing it by hand.

Other than that, classes are over, work is in full swing, and I need a haircut. (I really, *really* need a haircut.)

And I should probably update this more, but I don't have any good drama. ::tear::
