If you made up your own cereal, what would it consist of, and what would you call it?

View other answers

It would be crunchy. It would be corn and honey flavoured. it would also have nut clusters. The cereal would be like a corn flake ball but slightly softer. it would stay hard in milk.

Urgent News - Department of Canadian Heritage Cuts Language Funding by 68%!!!

Minister of Heritage Bev Oda says that of $172 million earmarked in 2002 for Aboriginal languages, $160 million will not be allocated as planned, and is in fact being removed from the fiscal framework.

The $172 million funding program was introduced under the Liberal government to ensure the preservation and revitalization of Canada's indigenous languages. Instead, Minister Oda has reinstated the lackluster Aboriginal Language Initiative at $5 million per year for 10 years, for a total of $50 million, effectively cutting 68% of the dedicated funds.

Even though BC has at minimum 32 indigenous languages, all of which are critically endangered, we get only 1/10 of the federal language revitalization monies. This cut in funding drastically increases the imminent demise of these dying languages!

Please help us put pressure on the minister to restore the promised language revitalization monies!

Visit http://www.fphlcc.ca/  to download a template letter to write to the minister.

Or, write your own letter and send it to:

Honourable Bev Oda

Minister of Canadian Heritage

And Status of Women

Ottawa, Canada

So today at 8:30am on Channel 14 news the two ladies said as they were going to commercial break:

"new information that mothers are to blame for their sons being gay. find out about how studies are linking mothers to gayness after the break."

i'm having a short-circuit for so many reasons.
this has put me in a bad mood for the whole day despite it being beautiful, springy, and the first day of the year that I didn't have to wear a jacket.
I hate ignorant bigots!!!!

As of late I've been feeling a little down in the dumps. Not because of anyone or anything really....just my entire situation in general has been causing me a lot of grief! I guess March is a heinous time for everyone....so I've been soothing my soul with a little bit of aural therapy... which for ME means boys + acoustic guitars. Maybe its cliche... but I can't think of anything better than some Bob Marley on an old 'blaster and a big fatty to make my troubles seem far far away.
So for all you peeps that need a bit of a break from life, here's my top five fave boys+guitars tracks.
ps if you don't have these, and I know you, I can msn them to you
pps if you have any other suggestions plz leave a comment!

1. Pearl Jam - Elderly Women Behind A Counter In A Small Town(acoustic version).
2. Blind Melon - Change(acoustic version).
3. Stone Temple Pilots - Plush(acoustic version).
4. Coldplay - Yellow
5. 311 - Amber

This post is going out to all you folk at UVic who are relying on the govt for lunch money (and coming up short!) This year I decided to forgo my parking pass becuase it was part of my "being more nice to the Earth" plan (Stupid Plans...) and also I thought I would save money. However I forgot that things happen when you stay at school a long time... like getting really freaking hungry and then having to BUY food! So in the end I don't think I saved any money by not buying a parking pass. At least I got to walk every day across two flooded fields during the 38-day rain streak. :P Enough rambling. Here's my top 5 things to eat at school when you're low on cash:

1. Sweet Greens Wrap: $4.00 for exactly the same wrap they make u at the SUB for $5. Wierd??!!
2. Bean There Pizza Slice: $3.50 for the largest slice of pizza you'll ever eat.
3. Bean There Croissant-wich: I would say this is my absolute fave on the list. $3.50 for tuna heaven
4. Cinnamon Bagel + Coffee @ Finnerty's: $2.00 (if you have your own mug) can't be beat.
5. Munchie Bar Spicy Veggie Roll: I can't remember how much this thing is, its ~$2, but if you're in the mood for something spicy and fatty and damn good, get one and throw it in the nuker down by Felicitas and make sure you have a drink handy! So delicious and vegan yum!

*note: I would've included the awesome $2.95 vegan chili from Health Food Bar, which is delicious and extremely filling and even comes with a piece of brown bread if you ask really nicely...but this stuff is eat at your own risk.. or the risk of anyone you co-habit with becuase of the extremely high bean content. :S

All day today I've been craving a big fat slab of raw fishie. So in honour of this, and to help convince myself all this daydreaming has some sort of practicality, here is my top 5 FAVE sushi restaurants in Victoria. I'm not a sushi snob... I have eaten at almost every sushi restaurant in Victoria, from the cheapest (Sushi Plus) to the most expensive (Jap Village). However, that said, sushi is one of those things where (especially if you are in for nigiri) you get what you pay for. So this list is throwing caution to the wind and giving what I think are the finest tasting sushi, regardless of price. SO yeah, most of it is not cheap :P Oh yeah and I don't eat bullshit like California Roll. This is nigiri or NUTTIN... hmm...maybe I *am* a sushi snob......

#1. Koto
#2. Ebizo
#3. Mitsuki-An
#4. SenZushi
#5. Tamami

1. Francelli's at Royal Oak
2. Starbucks... on a corner near you
3. Toria's Cafe on Foul Bay
4. Moka House at Admirals Walk
5. Serious Coffee on Blanshard - sketchy!

Well after much mulling, humming, and hawwing, I have finally come up with a concept for this space which doesn't offend my anti-blog sensibilities. The Emmy Report will, hopefully, once a week, give my personal critique on something I've taken part in.
SOoOoOoOo.... this week is (drumroll).... COFFEE!! I wouldn't call myself a connoisseur, but I definitely know good from bad. I almost always order americano's so I guess I should be specific and say that this is based on single-shot americanos from the following establishments.

Top Five Coffee Places in Victoria:
1. Cafe Fantastico
2. Munchie Bar
3. Mirage Coffee
4. Illy on Fort
5. La Collina

So I still am in hate with blogs. Inane ramblings of the pretentious and insipidly egomaniacal... isn't that what BLOG stands for anyways? I don't feel like I have anything to say that a) hasn't been said before or b) anyone gives a shit about. I'll keep trying...........sigh

Well hello Journal.
As this is our first introduction, I guess I should say a little about myself. Firstly, I hate blogs. Are you a blog? Hmm... maybe this relationship isn't going to work out... oh well maybe thats the second thing to say about myself... I'm not a quitter! So I *guess* we could give it a shot...............today is the start of reading break so I'm necessarily in a great mood. Thats all for now. Yoroshiku Onegaishimasu!
