KISS when I was 5 years old. My neighbor's son used to play them for me when we'd visit and the parent's didn't want me underfoot. Their mistake!

Apr. 30th, 2007 @ 05:55 pm The Divided
Soooo who all is coming to our kick ass show tomorrow night at the Towne Lounge?
We are playing with Spouse, a lovely band from the otherside of the country.
The address is:

714 SW 20th Place
Portland, Oregon 97205

It's over by PGE Park.
It's in an old building that I believe was once a funeral home...or at least that's the impression I get from the exterior.
There are no signs. Just a green light outside the front door.

Doors are at 9:00PM. We go on at 9:30ish.

Come say hello to me!

Feb. 1st, 2007 @ 12:58 pm The Divided in February
Alright folks,
Here it is, official announcement time.

The Divided is playing on February 17th at the Red Room located at 2530 N.E. 82nd Ave.
It's a Saturday night and admission is FREE!!!!!! (the bands get paid a percentage of the drinks sold so drink up and help us fund the new EP that we're recording)

The other 2 bands playing the bill are INSOMNIAC FOLKLORE and ZECHS MARQUISE (from El Paso, Texas).

This is our first show in over a year and also our first show with Ryan on bass.
Expect to hear some new songs and some revamped older tunes and a few we've been working on inbetween.

Hope to see you all there!!!!!!!!!
About this Entry
Dec. 16th, 2006 @ 11:03 pm So here's a thought
and maybe, just maybe, I'm oversimplifying matters...but 2 news stories I've read this past week have got me thinking.
First, the Chinese dolphin extinction report. This is sad. But I hold out hope that there are some in hiding. They don't want to be found. They're smart and avoiding "us". Other species thought extinct have been found, so maybe this is true here as well.
Then there is the cloned cat that just had kittens....

Soooo....can we clone the dolphin (and again...maybe I'm oversimplifying since I'm not up on the "real" process of cloning, just the sci-fi version...I assume there is a real difference) and get it to reproduce to repopulate the species?

Just a thought to give me some hope for specieskind.

EDIT: Oh and obviously we'd need more than 1 cloned dolphin (male and female) for the reproduction.....

Nov. 29th, 2006 @ 08:47 pm For a friend
A friend of mine has started a Theater Company and is looking for a venue to rent out during the weekends for the month of February (in Portland, Oregon). She is looking for inexpensive and atypical. Just wondering if anyone reading my journal would have some ideas.
The theater company is also a non-profit so she's looking into financing for it...any thoughts out there oh friends of mine who have searched for grants and other non-profit-y stuff?!!!
Thanks for any help.
About this Entry
Oct. 21st, 2006 @ 05:57 am Ebay postings
So I have teamed up with Lexi to sell off a few of my "more rare" occult books through ebay.
The proceeds from said sales will go to help finance the recording of the next EP by The Divided.
It's been 3 years since our last recording and it's time for some new tunes. Please forward this information to anyone that you think might be interested in them.
After these sales are finished, we plan on putting a few more up.

So far we have "The Magical and Mystical System of the A.A.", "The Voudon Gnostic Workbook", and a bizarre, rare copy of "The Greater Key of Solomon" posted. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have concerning the books.
Anyone who knows me knows that I try to take immaculate care of my books.

Sep. 30th, 2006 @ 08:45 pm Third Eye Info
Tickets are $15 each. No Exit will run from September 29-Oct 22. Friday & Saturday at 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm) and Sundays at 7pm (doors open at 6:30pm). There will be no matinee on Sunday Oct. 1st.

There is a $1 discount for PATA members (with membership card), as well as for students (with a valid student ID).

No Exit will be playing at Milk and Honey Community Studio, which is located at 2512 SE Gladstone St. #205 in Portland, OR.

Here's the info for "No Exit". The website for the company is www.thirdeyetheatre.org
I think it's worth seeing. They're a small company and they're new, but I think that so far they've proven to do a better job than Radiant Theater (which is the only other small Theater company in town I can think to compare them to).

Show some LOVE!

Sep. 30th, 2006 @ 01:55 am Wow...I'm drunk!
So I just spent the last 5.5 hours with theater people.
The girl I moved to Portland with is back in town for the month and her theater company "Third Eye Theatre" had their debut performance tonight. They did "No Exit" by Sartre.
It was pretty moving for me and her because she realized offstage after she saw me in the audience that "No Exit" was one of the first dates we ever had and that it was almost exactly 10 years ago. And now she was producing it and I was one of the first to see it. She told me afterwards that having me in the audience was really calming for her and that she appreciated it. That almost made me cry considering that I thought that I might be an unwelcome distraction on opening night.
The turn out was miserable. Only 10 people. But I thought the play was worth it and I will probably go again before the run is up. Sure there were issues with it, but really I felt the issues were more with things like the venue and not the actual performance.
I will post the info on the show sometime this weekend when I've sobered up.
I went to the Rose and Raindrop afterwards with the cast and had an amazing time....it was really good to catch up with Lacy.
I'll never quite understand why she dumped me when it seems like we have so much in common, but then again I wonder that about all my relationships that end up taking a great big dump.

Sep. 28th, 2006 @ 07:11 pm addendum to concert season
so Mew is back on for Oct. 17th....this time at Berbati's!!!!!!!! Oh the joy....and it's a NRK show so it's only $9.47 Get a ticket quick it will sell out. Check out www.myspace.com/mew for some audio and I think video. I LOVE THIS BAND.

That being said...I'm ditching out on Guns 'n Roses ($75 tickets!), and also on Paul Stanley. Even though Paul is touring with the HouseBand from Rockstar:Supernova as his backing band, I went to Amazon.com and listened to samples from his new album and it is NOT good. Very disappointing and reminiscent of late 80's/early 90's Kiss-lite. Gonna have to pass.....

besides now I've got MEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of all the goddamn Friday nights to have a conflict.

So for like the past month I've had nothing to do on a Friday, and have fallen asleep almost as soon as I get home.

So tonight I have this thing at the Lodge at 9PM....so I'm checking my myspace account and f'in' Lady Sovereign JUST announces that she is doing a "secret" show at Aura tonight (on Burnside across from Powell's)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! at 11PM.....
I'm going to attempt to make it to both events.

MEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at the freakin' Wonder Ballroom on Oct. 17th.

That now makes 4!!!!! count them 4!!!! major shows in October.

Muse/The Like
Scissor Sisters
Mew
Placebo/She Wants Revenge

So, now comes the part where I figure out what to buy at these shows. Mew is pretty much a definite t-shirt purchase if not other stuff too (since their CDs are hard to find here). Scissor Sisters I can get away with not buying anything (in fact if I had known at the time that Placebo and Mew were coming I may not have bought a SS ticket at all since I have seen them before...but I'm going so I'm going to enjoy it). Both Muse and Placebo had lackluster shirts last time they were through. I'm hoping for better this time. Maybe even some polo shirts that I can get away with wearing at work.

Current Mood: good
So after Rockstar:Supernova I was flipping channels and came upon "So You Think You Can Dance" just as they started a big dance number. The music was quirky and interesting so I stopped to figure out who they were playing...then it dawned on me....they were playing Ramalama (Bang Bang) off the Roisin Murphy (from Moloko) solo album!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I about crapped myself. It's SOOO beautiful to hear artists that I respect getting airplay in the U.S. after being ignored for so long. Yay! I hope this renews some interest in her here.

Aug. 9th, 2006 @ 09:37 pm Speaking of Muses
Muse is playing the Roseland on Oct. 3rd. The Like are opening. I dig both of these bands...Muse is a HUGE influence on my musical style. They put on an awesome show....ask Dora if you don't believe me.

THEN on Oct. 4th! Scissor Sisters are coming to the Roseland. And that's ALSO going to be a hell of a time....

I'm going to both....after a couple months of not being excited about any shows, I finally have them back to back...

Aug. 9th, 2006 @ 09:35 pm Going to see Anne open for Xanadu!
August, 10 2006 at ALL-AGES! Deluxe Hotel
SW 15th & Yamhill, Portland, OR 97214
Cost: $7

Per Se opens for...Miss Olivia Newton-John!! That's right--we're warming up the crowd for Ms. Newton-John's roller-skating rollicks in the skating movie musical, "Xanadu." Per Se will play this show in rare form--as an all-girl trio. (Rachel and Anne will be joined by Lindy Wood, formerly of Boob, who will do her level breast to accompany us on the skins.)

I think that this is on the rooftop of the hotel. Ads in the paper mention bringing chairs but I'll probably just tough it out. I love Anne's music and I haven't seen this incarnation of Per Se. And XANADU! Come on...that just rules! Rollerskating MUSES people!

Who's with me?
