1:20 pm - Wow ... it's still here
I can't believe my old journal is still here. I had deleted it when I got my own domain and moved to MT and now to WordPress. You can find my current journal here. I think I need to read through some of these just for fun. And now I can find out exactly when I did start blogging. Too cool.

8:41 am - FYI.............
I just want to let everyone who reads my blog (that's all 2 or 3 of you....lol...not sure how many people read this) know...this will be my last LJ post. I am planning on deleting my journal at the end of the week. I have my MovableType journal up and running and am now posting in that. So...if you'd still like to continue reading about my trivial life, bookmark my new blog.....

Hope to see you 'round there soon.

9:21 am - I've got a new blog
Hey all. I've got a new blog now, so I probably won't be updating this one for long. I might even end up deleting it...not sure yet. But I've recently installed MovableType and have my new blog almost all set up. I just have to customize some of the other templates. But it is up and running right now.

You can find my new blog here.

11:15 pm - Jr...babe....you so impressed me tonite
Tonite was Saturday nite short track racing at Richmond. I was hyped for this race tonite since Jr won the Busch race last nite. I was sooo hoping he would have a good race tonite. He was doing pretty good at the start of the race. Then he had a tire problem and ended up going 2 laps down. But did he and the Bud crew give up?!? HELL NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They fought back got back to 1 lap down. Then at the start of the last green flag run, Jr was in around 23rd spot 1 lap down. He got out ahead of Matt Kenseth and just took off. He tore thru the rest of the field after he got his lap back and muscled his way back to 4th place!!! From 1 lap down all the way to 4th place...and with no cautions to help him. Way to go man....you ROCK!!!. I just wish he wouldn't have had that tire problem early in the race. The way his car was at the end of the race, he would have took off on the field....like he did last nite in the Busch race. And Jr's 4th place finish gets him in the No Bull 5 at Talladega. And Jr runs awesome at 'dega. I think I smell a million dollar win for Jr at 'dega!!!!!!!!!!!! Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

5:48 pm - Thank you UPS man....
OMG...I just can't believe this. I was just visited by the UPS man. I wasn't expecting any package. What in the world could it be?!? I opened the box and what to my wondering eyes should appear....a 1:24 scale Dale Jr Budweiser MLB diecast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMFG!!!! Then I'm like.....where did this come from. Well, there was a note with it. It said.....

--------------------------------------------------------
Dear Winner:

CONGRATULATIONS!

You are a prize winner in the 2002 Dale Earnhardt Jr./Major League Baseball All-Star Experience Sweepstakes, sponsored by Anheuser-Busch, Inc.

We hope you will enjoy the enclosed prize for many years.

On behalf of Anheuser-Busch, Inc., we appreciate your participation in this promotion.

---------------------------------------------------------

I had completely forgotten about entering that sweepstakes. And I only entered a few times. The fact that I actually won is totally amazing. Now I have to make room on my one lone shelf for the car. The only other 1:24 scale car I have is Jr's Olympic car. All the other cars I have are 1:64 scale. But hell...I'm not gonna complain. The car is just simply awesome. I'll have to take a pic of it and post it in here.

7:25 pm - It's all ready for the world to see....
Woohoo....I finished my website today. I actually worked on it during the race and Jr didn't crash. He didn't finish all that well, but at least he didn't crash.

Anyway...my website is up for the world to see. Now all I have to do is set up and customize my MT blog. I'd work on it tomorrow, but I have to work on the Sugar Beats site. The sooner I get it done, the sooner I get the money.

So...go visit my websites.....

9:37 pm - I did it...I did it....I did it....
Yep...that's right...I finally did it. Last nite I registered a domain name and signed up for web hosting. As of this afternoon...my domain has propagated!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!! Now I just have to finish the last little bit on my website and get it up for the world to see. It shouldn't take me to long to finish it. I could finish it tomorrow...but I have this silly little superstition about not touching my computer during a race. Jr has crashed or gotten into trouble too many times while I've been on my computer...online or offline. So, I won't touch the computer 'til after the race is over...or if they end up in a rain delay like the Busch race did.

Anyway...the main reason for this post. I have gotten one portion of my website up online for all to see. My Dale Jr fan site is up on it's new server. Since it was already up on my webspace with i29.net, I didn't have to do too much to get it up on the new host space. I changed the links and it's all ready to go. So.............GO CHECK IT OUT!!!!! What are you waiting for???????????? The new URL for the site is....

9:25 pm - I'm on a roll...
I've gotten quite a bit done tonite. I've got the newest pics on the Avalanche Country website...I've got pics of the new t-shirts up too. Woohoo!! And I've gotten a good start on some mood icons that I wanted to make. I'm planning on getting Movable Type to make a new blog, and I want some custom mood icons for it. I think they're turning out rather cute. Hopefully I can animate them the way I want too.

Now...I just need to finish MY website...LOL. I've got it almost done, but it's those last touches that need to be finished. I think I'm gonna register a domain name this weekend (since I get paid on Friday). Then I'm gonna get some webhosting from Sevaa...you can't beat $3/month for 50MB of webspace. Once I get all that set up, then I'll start working on customizing my MT blog. Hopefully it won't be too complicated. I've already got a layout in mind that I want.

9:26 am - It's been awhile...
....since I actually posted about what's up with me. Right now, my ankle is killing me. I guess that's what I get for swing dancing with Neal last nite at Pete's. I swear...one of these times, that boy is gonna send me flying...for some reason he luvs to keep spinning me...probably 'cuz I told him not to spin me so much. The putz. But I luv dancing with him...he just needs to tone down the spinning. But right now I'm wishing I hadn't 'cuz my ankle hurts. It's the one that I sprained pretty bad a little over a year ago (that bottom step just jumped out at me...LOL).

I've been seeing quite a bit of Avalanche lately. It had been 7 weeks since they played and now I've seen them for the past 3 weekends. Aug. 10th they played at the Kindred street dance and Aug. 17th they played at the Horace Bean Days street dance. And last nite they were at Pete's. They're there for the rest of the weekend, but I'm not sure if I'll be going out or not...that DVD player I bought took all my extra cash. I've been having fun. I got lots of pics for the website. It got a bit chilly last Saturday, but it was still fun...except for the fact that Sara really pissed me off with one of her comments. I said something about going back to Kansas to see Eric again and she goes off saying...'you talk about him every 5 min'...which is complete bullshit. I haven't brought up his name around her..or anyone else for that matter..in a long time. I think she was just pissed that Cory liked Crystal and not her. I haven't talked to her since that nite and I probably won't again 'til the boyz are at the Windbreak. Oh well.

As for the whole job front....I still sit at this job that frustrates the hell out of me. I did get a response back from WeatherData.......'we're sorry but you don't have the experience for the position we are trying to fill'. @#&$%!!!!! And I sure the hell ain't getting any experience at my current job....how the hell am I gonna find something else so I can get out of here?!? I did apply for a NWS Internship in Norman, OK. I would give ANYTHING to get that. I've always wanted to live in Norman. I wanted (and still want) to go to grad school there at OU, but it's a pretty hard school to get in to (I found this out after I had already applied). And I don't know if I've even got a shot at the internship, but it doesn't hurt to try. I've applied for some in the past and got the same response I did from WeatherData....not enough experience. I need to find some place that has entry level meteorology jobs. I'm willing to work my way up. Anything to get out of this place....I've been here for over 3 years and haven't done anything relating to meteorology....and I was hired as a METEOROLOGIST!!!

Not much else has been going on. I live such an exciting life......yeah right.

Well...qualifying is this afternoon (GO JR!!!!) and the Busch race is tonite. I want to stay home and watch it (mainly 'cuz I don't have any money left), but I have a feeling that Lisa is gonna wanna go out to see Avalanche again. The Winston Cup race is tomorrow nite (GO JR!!!! GO BREW CREW). I was thinking about finding a bar that'll be showing the race and go there and watch it, but I think I'll just stay home and watch it instead. Depends on my mood I guess.

11:49 am - Talk about awesome!!!!!!!!!
They just played the boyz's song on the radio (on Froggy 99.9FM). They've been playing "Take Me Home" for awhile now, but they just started to play "Watch You For Hours". That is one of my favorite songs on their CD. It is so cool to hear it on the radio. I kinda got teary eyed for some reason....don't know if it's 'cuz I know the guys or 'cuz of the song itself or what. It's just plain cool.

If you're reading this...go to their website and go to their 'Merchandise'or 'mp3'pages and listen to their song clips. They also have live tracks (the full song) that you can download. You can even buy their CD from the website. I think these guys are awesome and I'd really luv to see them make it big someday. Maybe if I can get their music spread around via my blog...maybe someone somewhere will hear it and give them a shot. Hey...I know it's a long shot, but ya never know.

7:20 pm - Another job opportunity
I was checking on the NOAA job listings last nite and, low and behold, what do I find?? There is a NWS Internship at Norman, OK listed on the site. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!! I saw that and just got giddy. I have ALWAYS wanted to be in Norman. I still want to go to grad school there (at the Univ. of Oklahoma). If I could get a job at the NWS there, I would be bouncing off the walls. So....I AM going to apply for it. I have until next Friday to get it done, so it won't be a problem. I don't know how good my chances are....I've applied for the NWS internships before with no luck...but that doesn't mean that I'm not gonna try. There's always that one chance...I can't sit back and wait for it to come to me any more. I need to go after it myself. So here I go.....

I s'pose I should mention We-Fest. I had a blast. Sara went with me. We got to go on a winniebago limo...that was cool. And Kathleen and Kelly were on the winnie as well. We hung out with them all day. The concerts were awesome. I finally got to see High Noon again. I haven't seen them in a long time. I even ended up buying their CD (their first one). Chris Cagle is a major hottie. And I thought this was cool....he had a #3 on the bass drum and on the keyboards. So...what does that mean you're wondering. Well, it was Dale Earnhardt's car number. I thought that was just cool. And in one of his songs (I can't remember which one it was), he mentioned the "black car", "the legend"...references to Dale Earnhardt. Cool.......... JoDee Messina puts on an awesome concert. I have always wanted to see her...she didn't disappoint. She's got way too much energy. And Alabama finished off the nite. It was so cool to be able to see them.

8:39 pm - I'm going to We-Fest
WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!! I just won tickets to We-Fest from Froggy 99.9FM!! Kick ass!!! I've been trying...I was caller 2, 4, 7, 8...and FINALLY tonite I was caller 9. I got tickets to my choice of day. I took Friday. The lineup for that day is:
Chase Roberts - I have no idea who that is
High Noon - band from the Cities...I haven't seen them in forever
Chris Cagle - oh yeah!!
Doobie Brothers - no opinion
JoDee Messina - I've always wanted to see her
Alabama - um..hello...it's Alabama!!

My winnings also include a ride to and from Detroit Lakes in the limo bus with drinks provided (too bad it's Miller...oh well...LOL). I just hope the weather isn't as hot as it was last year. I don't think it will be...I'll have to keep a close eye on it now.

1:06 pm - I just don't understand TV broadcasters sometimes
It's Sunday, so that means I'm watching the race...cheering on Dale Jr. Today the race is at Pocono. On the first lap, there was a major accident that involved 2 of my favorite drivers ... Dale Jr and Steve Park, both DEI drivers. Both of them walked away under their own power, thank goodness. The crash was pretty nasty and it had me in tears...Steve's car took quite a beating. But like I said, they both are okay. But TNT keeps replaying the crash. I can understand them showing it a few times so that we can see what happened to cause it and how other key drivers in the points race made it thru. But do they have to keep showing it over and over and over... ?!? I have lost count as to how many times they have showed the crash. I can't imagine being Steve's parents and watching the race at home seeing that crash being replayed so much. It must be horrible for them. And they're replaying the crash AGAIN!! I can't handle it anymore.

7:43 pm - I did it....
...I sent my resume off to Weather Data tonite. Now I just have to wait to hear back from them. I hope I do hear back from them. Man, it would be awesome if they had an opening, and they chose me to fill it. I'd be outta here so quick. I really don't have anything to keep me here except for my family. I know my mom wouldn't be all that happy, but as it is right now, I don't go home to visit all that often (and I'm only an hour away!). I think it would be really good for me to move down there (if I got that job). I'd be in completely new surroundings, and I could start over. I'm not gonna get my hopes up too high, but at least it's a start for getting out of where I am right now.

9:01 pm - Time for an upbeat post
My last few posts have been pretty negative, so I thought I should probably post something that is somewhat positive...

I'm feeling a little better. I just got done updating my resume and writing a cover letter to send with to Weather Data, Inc. down in Wichita, KS. I sent my resume to them awhile ago (I think it was back in 1999), but never heard back. Hopefully I will this time. I don't know if they have any job openings, but it doesn't hurt to check. I just have to check on the info on the article I was co-author on in the WMA Journal (that's Weather Modification Association) and then it should be ready to email off (their website says to email your resume). I'd luv to get in there. It would probably be an entry level job, which is okay with me. I'd get some experience and probably some training. And it would be down in Kansas ... only about 3 hours from Melissa in Leavenworth (according to MS Streets & Trips). That would be a plus!! I guess I'll just have to wait to see if I hear back.

I did find an internship with the NWS in Grand Forks and in Williston, but I don't think I'm gonna apply for those. I want to get out of ND, and they applications are due by Friday (I just found out about them yesterday). Most of the application is done online, but it still takes time. And I know this sounds negative, but I've applied for NWS internships before and have been told I don't have enough experience (or I'm not ranked high enough). THAT'S why I want to get out of WMI and into a job that will get me the experience that I so desperately need. And talk about ironic ... today I got my review in the mail from Bruce. I need to fill out the last section and send it back to him and then we can get together (in person or over the phone) to go over it. Hmmm ... should I be honest on it and say that I'm unhappy in my job. Naw ... I'll just toe the company line and try not to tip them off that I'm looking elsewhere for a new job. I will be truthful in some of the things that upset me, but I'm not sure how far I'll go. I need to keep this job 'til I can find a new one ... LOL.

I'm not sure where else to look for a job in meteorology. I've checked the AMS listings, the NWA listings, and the NOAA listings (that's how I found the NWS internships). I'm on a mailing list for met jobs, but I don't get emails very often from it. I guess I'm just gonna have to keep searching the 'net for what I can find. I can be pretty resourceful and Google can be a pretty good tool ... =) I should probably get back in touch with Dr. Rinehart to see if he knows of anything. He basically got me my current job ... but he's retired now. But hey, it's worth a shot. I need some more networking in the field of meteorology. Maybe Tanya could know something. But I haven't been in touch with either of them in awhile. I'd feel ackward getting in touch with them now just looking for a job. And I don't want it to get back to WMI, so I'd have to be careful.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow nite ... 24Seven is playing at Bucks ... out in the tent. I haven't been to Bucks on a Wednesday nite in a long time. Hopefully there will be some good looking guys out there ... or at least Jon will be out there and will get up to play the drums on Sweet Home Alabama. I just hope I don't fall into another one of my moods.

'Til next time...
