PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the right wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.

The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters in swing states.

i went bike riding with my neighbor natalie yesterday. she emailed me yesterday asking if i was up for riding. i'm usually always up for riding. no offense to anyone i have ever ridden with but natalie was the best first-time riders (besides _seldom/jess) i have ever ridden with. man, those couple of times that i rode with angie were nuts. every time i'd look back to check on her, she would not be peddling. you gotta peddle to get anywheres, ya heard.

started this month on a higher note...

the order of things:
13 saturday - my apartment floods while i'm in birmingham, alabama.
14 sunday - my brand new digital camera breaks on the way back to houston
16 tuesday - i move all the stuff out of my apartment, carpet included
17 wednesday - my carpet is replaced, stuff is moved back in
18 thursday - power is restored at my place
19 friday - car battery dies, found out on my way to help a friend having battery issues
21 sunday - water heater in garage next to my living room explodes, living room carpet gets wet
22 monday - after fans didn't dry wet carpet i again moved furniture and pulled carpet out to dry on wooden fence overnight
23 tuesday - carpet is dry, landlord tries to help me re-install it
27 saturday - carpet guys come and re-install carpet, looks new all over again - i re-situate things
27/28 saturday night/sunday morning - i drop my cell phone and it lands face down on rocks, it would have been fine until i stepped on it - it all happened in one move
28 sunday - mouth is in worse pain ever, i end up removing the rubber bands and wire from my braces
30 tuesday - i misplace my debit card, and its still missing
10/1 wednesday - i go to ortho, they replace wires and bands and we make an agreement to have them removed by january 28th. i get home from annual happy hour with co-workers and have a new bookshelf/entertainment center unit in living room. things are looking good for a 1st.

before you go feeling bad for me, know this: everything that was damaged or broken has been replaced. all these things happened and i just let them roll off, not allowing myself to react. i did feel like i was going to break down a few times. but like i said, everything has already been replaced. the carpet, the camera, my car battery, my cell phone, my braces... everything. alls i need is a change of attitude. oh, and i need to go to the bank for a new debit card but thats it.

what happened to august anyway?

14:05 my braces will be off by my birthday - 01/28/2009.

so i went to the orthodontist today. i haven't mentioned that i was in terrible pain on sunday night and i ended up taking the wires and bands out of my mouth. i knew i'd be having my visit today so it wouldn't be that big a deal. i lost a bracket on sunday too.

so i called early today and let them know what had happened and asked if i could go in earlier in the day because they take way too long to set up [after their lunches]. so i arrived at my earlier time and had a sit-down with my orthodontist. i asked her if she could not hook my backest molars to wires or rubber bands, that i feel that the molar would move easier if it wasn't hooked up.

now, i am not trying to tell these people how to do their jobs and i told her that. i have had my braces on since december 11th, 2000. i have been going every month since february 2005, only having missed two appointments in all of that time. we have been trying to close the gap between two of my molars for a while now.

i mentioned that people have been in and out of their office since february 2005. and not just a few people, not just hundreds of people... thousands of people gave gotten braces on and removed in the time i have been going.

when i learned that i could remove them with just pliers, i was glad i didn't own proper pliers. i told them all of this. then i started to cry. its been too much. its been too long. i asked if my molars would move if i removed my braces now. like today. she said no, that the retainer would keep them in place. she asked for me not to give up.

then i brought up again how this february would be 4 years since i've restarted going every month. and then i mentioned that on the 28th of january... i would be turning 30. she said we'd work to have them removed by my birthday.

altho i should be happy about this, i am not allowing myself to be until at least christmas. i thank her for listening, that it meant a lot to someone who is really about to lose. it.

i put a camera mount on my father's bike today for less than $1.50 using this as a guide.

i stopped by a hardware store during lunch and picked up the bolt, wing nuts and washers. then i hit my bike shop for a reflector mount but they didn't sell them, they only come on new bikes and are sold on the bike. i ended up finding one on my neighbor's daughter's bike. her reflector was already being covered by her basket. so i asked and then nabbed it.

my battery died last week:

i left my car parked at my office overnight on friday and rode my bike to my car on saturday where i was met by my friend isreal who works for ntb. he came with a battery booster so we could get the car to his shop.

13:15 yeah remember how i went to birmingham this past weekend? the temp agency emailed today verifying the temp's assignment this fri & mon.

as you may have figured out, i have been using my twitter account to automatically update my LJ since i haven't had power. the trip to alabama was a success and hurricane ike successfully knocked most of the power out in the houston area.

i have tons of pix from the trip as well as pix of me removing the carpet from my apartment yesterday. it was crazy sad. BUT it has ALREADY BEEN REPLACED! (you may have read my last update) that the landlord found a contractor who had a huge job this week but cannot do that job without power. it was replaced today around 11am and i haven't left work to see it yet.

i can't wait. the power is still out there tho so it really doesn't matter.
