Blowing the dust off.

Sooo.....

Artscape was cool. and by that I mean amazingly hot and sweaty in varying amounts, but lots of cool hanging out was had, and cool music to boot.

Lots of stuff going on, not the least of which is that Tori and I are now homeowners. That cute little house a few posts back is now ours, and we're movin stuff into it Sunday. If you can help, let me know, and I'll let you know what to do where and when. Once that is done with, there will be more social from us, there will be a couple fun trips, there will be wii-code-trading, there will be plays and all sorts of madness. And, of course, music. always music.

People are always asking me how married life is treating me, how it feels to be a homeowner, lots of questions that have no surprising answer.... "It's good!" is all most people expect, but I thought of something on the drive home tonight that makes sense at least to me, if not some other people out there somewhere. The entire process of the things in my life recently has felt remarkably like standing in front of a guitar amp on stage in front of people and hitting a big power chord at just the right time. Life is vibrating. Life is good.

Questions from my roommate

1. If you could try any hairstyle just to see what it looks like, what would it be?
Shaven. This is with the tenet that if I don't like it even a little bit, I can instantly get all my hair back. This naturally precludes a brennan without hair, but I've sort of always wondered what it would be like.

2. Who would you rather have as your sidekick: MacGuyver, Yoda, or Chris Stevens?
Tough one. Mac is no one's sidekick, but naturally I would love to be his. Yoda would be pretty awesome as a sidekick. Chris I could see hanging out with, but he's just too ethereal to be put to a task in a sidekicky way. So I guess Yoda? He'd have to bring his own floaty-chair. none of that luke-backpack crap for me.

3. When I take the wheelchair out of the trunk of my car, where should I put it?
That's where it is!
Er, in the basement, next to the growing pile of music equipment.
Why did you have it again?

4. Are there any popular tv shows of which you just can't see the appeal?
Quite a few. Some of them I've even watched. Most of the dancing competition shows. The surreal life and any celebreality show that's not about a rock band.

5. Who's scarier: Gary Busey or Dennis Hopper?
In reality, Busey. Cause he has so many unpredictable tangents. Actually, Hopper did Super Mario Brothers. So definitely Busey.

New folks on friendslist, new interviews.

So I'm sick. so nothing of consequence getting posted today, other than, yes, I will be twittering in the near future.

However, I do have some interview questions, courtesy of [info]metalcrowe, who is one of a few additions lately. Welcome!

1. Name a movie, album, or book that really disappointed you. Why?
I could easily say Phantom Menace, or Inspector Gadget, or some really easy target - I think Muppets In Space. That movie was very unfortunate - it was the first one that didn't have Jim around for any of the process, and it shows. The Muppets spend most of their time NOT IN SPACE. They don't sing, until Gonzo's family shows up and is mysteriously Parliament. (the band, not the governmental body.) They explain Gonzo! That on principle I disagree with. AND cameos from James Van Der Beek and Katie Holmes as Dawson's Creek characters? Gaaaah!
Anyway.
2. Where did you meet rob?
I actually met rob at an underground (literally) radio station that one of my friends (Dave K.) has run for the past like 17 years. It was late 2000, and he was brought there by my other friend Steve (Devil.) After sniffing each others butts and growling at each other for a while, we managed to get along and I told him some open mics to check out. Tracking back, a lot of people met and a lot of things happened because we met when we did.
3. Planes or trains?
Automobiles! Although I prefer the stability of earth transport, and my dad and I bonded over model and real railroads for years and years, I've still taken more trips via plane than train. But planes freak me out a little bit.
4. How did you get started running the Perk open mic back in the day?
I had friends that wanted to get together, friends who were musicians (some of the same ones as today, some different), a night off every week, and I owned some PA equipment. All those things are still true, so who knows. The extra element in this situation was the opening of the Perk, which had not quite happened yet. I came in, there was no furniture, things were still being painted, and there was no one in the building. Chris came upstairs and Brewer came over from the house at pretty much the same time and I said: "Hi, I'm brennan. I'm gonna host your open mic. It'll be on Tuesdays." I remember the first open mic was myself, Dan, Rowan, Eric Maring, and maybe rob & heather? The next week there were 20 performers. The rest, as they say, is history.
5. You are forced to leave the United States. Where do you go?
If I can manage a unique skill, maybe australia. I also like the idea of Ireland, but more than likely, in reality, I'd go to Canada for the shared language and similar enough society.

sooo weird.

Last night, in my dream, I greeted Al Gore by first name, cause we had worked together in the past.

My throat feels very odd. But tomato soup is helping.

Thank you everyone for your attention and good thoughts about the house - we had an inspection today, and I think it's all going remarkably according to plan.

Found the usb cable:
434-1

Anyway, I'm off again. I swear, more news tomorrow.

Where did that thing go?

Still haven't found a USB cable of the size appropriate. However, here's an image pulled from the realtor searches:

As I say, far larger on the inside than it looks. it's right here: In Catonsville.

So I'm not on the computer I did the meme on, and I can't even figure out some of them. Until I get back to arctos, the partial answers are here.

celebrated the nephew's birthday today, which was both tiring and enjoyable, and also underscored the not-ticking of the biological clock at this precise moment.

Anyhoo, back to enjoying the open mic. Be good.

things to do!

Answers to that music thing coming soon, if anyone cares.

In NEWS department, we bought a house!

(we offered a contract, they've accepted it, we just need to inspect and detect, closing's scheduled up a month and a half from now)

It's in Catonsville, about a mile from my work (totally bike-able) and it's cute and seemingly bigger on the inside than the out. I can't find my usb cable, else there'd be pictures on this post. For those keeping track, this isn't the other one we were waiting to hear back from: we got impatient on that one and it seemed fairly unlikely, so we looked, we liked, we offered, they accepted, all within 36 hours. More details lata.

So that's exciting and now I have to pack, but after this week, in which there are many many many things to do.

Be Good!

i love the random music memes.

Put your favorite music player on shuffle. List the first lines/couplets of the first 50 songs, no matter how lame.

Ask friends to identify the songs in comments. (Hai frendz! Plz to identify these songs in my comments!). Bonus points given for identification of the correct artist on multiple-covers songs. Madcap fun ensues.

I didn't look up the lyrics, just typed them in, so some of them may be only phonetically accurate.

Warm days bring...

For a variety of reasons, I went on a hike on Wednesday - only about a mile and a half, but enough to feel a little bit wild, communicate with the spirits, scare a deer, and pick up a tick or two to be discovered later on and properly disposed of. Also reminded me how much I miss being out there.

Played a lot of music on Wednesday. Recently, someone asked me if I ever wanted to see my songs "finished" - i.e., with bass, drums, and I guess vocals? Thing is, I do... but I want to finish them with other people. Damn other people.

No house news yet.

Be good, all.

1 week, you say? MADNESS!

On and on we go - This past weekend was waaay too many parties, therefore Monday was practically useless.

Friday was the WGAY(WDAV) 17th anniversary show, which was a heck of a lot of fun, but man it's hard to get the gumption to come all the way down to CP after 11 hours of work.

Saturday after work I went to a party where I only knew a few people - then Tori and I hauled butt down to the Mechanics' Rocky Show to impersonate a freshly wed couple. It was certainly fun, but man. was I tired. Didn't quite make it through the show. A fine time seemed to be had by all in attendance, but I feel like it runs later every time I'm there.

Then sleep and wake up to haul out to Walkersville for my grandmother's 100th birthday party, which we were holding just a month and a week late, or rather as she said, she deserved a month-long birthday after all these years. Barbecues are fun, family is fun, repeated the plans about 54253524 times, and got some decent family and property insight.

The twitter-people are seducing me - but I want to put more characters into my thoughts, and be MORE creative in general, not abbreviated.

House-searching continues. Anyone a home inspector?

Be excellent to each other. Another update in a week probably.

WOOOOO!

Ok,

I haven't posted in six weeks, but that's because I was planning for this past weekend, in which I got married!

Everything went awesome, everyone looked lovely, I was the one who cried first/more. Go figure.

I'm off into the wild blue yonder, but I just want everyone to know that everything went great and stuff. and I'm alive. Talk to you soon!

Change of pace.

I'm in a not-surprisingly reflective mood. I spent much of open mic at java mamma's tonight going through my website and livejournal, trying to reorganize both, for it's been a while since I did anything to them.

Observe, as it was a matter of a few checkboxes and creativish titling, my journal looks different. Shortly, adding a few user icons... then, figuring out what I want the actual website to contain, and/or represent. Right now, it's broken links of the most recent redesign, and unseen piles of earlier versions, angst-ridden lyrics, old band websites, that sort of thing. I'll probably make it a little brighter than I have had things in the past... Black doesn't necessarily always suit me.

I want to say hi to everyone, but I don't have time or finger strength. Suffice it to say, I'm having an evening of much appreciation for what my life has turned out to be, and if you're reading this far, chances are pretty good you had something to do with it.

So, thank you.

be good. Off I go.

various developments!

T minus 2 months and counting, things are going very well.

pre-present: Wii. not set up yet, but bound to be a nice addiction for toria and myself.

I have a new band! or rather, it has me... More to follow later, but it is gonna be really good stuff - originals, creative, new ground with some old tricks.

way too much work. but, hey, didn't win the lottery yet.

been addicted to the cartoon show Reboot for the past week or so - which has been enough time to watch its entire existent run. finishing it off as I write this.

saving up for some new toys. trying to make decisions based on that - computer, music, or other geek? or both?

this is about all i got tonight. but I wanted to make sure folks knew i was still alive, kicking, and BUSY.

talk to you all soon!

been a long long time since i rock n rolled

the lack of posts has not been due to the lack of rock in my life, but rather to the lack of time, combined with my brainpower when I DO have time.

Also, this just in: The Internet can be distracting.

list of some stuff:
got a root canal
paid a LOT of bills
continuing to plan wedding OMG so much stuff
jamming with someone new this weekend
nobody told me we would recieve gifts BEFORE the wedding.
work drains my energy, and on some days, my will to live.
if i have some money from taxes, gonna either pimp out my old computer or get a new partner in crime for him.

ok, so caffeine is necessary for too much more than this in an entry. and I'm still wakin' up.

[info]gate67 has an entry about last night, which uses all the right words to describe what I was going for. as Hannibal would say, I love it when a plan comes together. Everyone did marvelous takes on rob's stuff, and I know my recording turned out great - rob was innocently recording the night as well straight off the board, so we may combine those tapes to make one thing for people to get or buy or something.

i think that's all I have right now. Everyone take care and be good.

Your Score: The Wolf

You scored 32% domestic, 57% gregarious, 50% trickster, and 32% intellect!

Wild, Gregarious, Serious and Emotional: you are the Wolf!

Wolf people tend to revere individualism, but retain a predominant sense of family. Wolf represents all aspects of sociability, and the need for variety (in internal and external affairs) to remain healthy. Wolf is a strong symbol of loyalty and patience. Wolf medicine is deeply rooted in the importance of learning through teaching, new ideas, freedom of mind and body, and responsibility for self and others.

This test categorized you based on four different axes of personality, which were then associated with a different animal. The four axes, as well as all possible results are explained below.

Wild/Domestic: This first axis categorizes you based on how much you are drawn to the outdoors, versus how much you are drawn to civilized situations. Domesticity has many shapes and forms, and varies from the joy of dolphins leaping next to a ship to the steadfast loyalty of a family dog.

Gregarious/Solitary: This axis measures how solitary you are. If you scored high, it means that you enjoy the company of other people, while a low score indicates that you prefer a more solitary lifestyle.

Trickster/Serious: This axis measures how well you line up with conventional trickster archetypes. People who fall into this archetype have a sense of humor and an excitable, highly chaotic streak. Scoring low doesn't mean that you don't have a sense of humor; it just means that you probably don't think dynamite is very funny.

Intellectual/Emotional: This last axis determines whether you are more emotional -- acting based on feelings and instinct, or rational and intelectual -- acting more on thought than on your gut feelings.

To-Do?

Things I wanted to accomplish today:

  • Clean the bedroom
  • Move the chest of drawers (white) across the wall to where it doesn't block the hot air, and move the chest of drawers (brown) into place.
  • Fold and sort into its location all 145436 loads of clean laundry Tori did yesterday.
  • Finish writing this new guitar thing.
  • Go to work and have a rockin' Monday sales-wise.
  • Post ebay sale items.

Things I accomplished today:

  • Messed up the bedroom
  • Moved the chest of drawers (white) incorrectly, pulled my back.
  • Laid on couch with heating pad as pain faded.
  • Folded a stack of towels.
  • Went to work and had... an ok day, I guess.

Things I plan to accomplish tomorrow:

  • Go to work and have a rockin' Tuesday.
  • Go to a movie with [info]cacie and get all inspired.

That list seems much more likely than today's.

and then the light rain fell.

I've been having, for the past few weeks, an odd inverse writer's block. Snippets of creativity have been rushing about my synapses, too many for me to concentrate on one thing and actually hammer it out. I've been intrigued by nanowrimo for quite a while, but I'm certainly not taking that on right now. heather w's nano-wrimo is really cool as well, but I know that I'd break down and miss a few days. (p.s. heather, are you keeping w? or going to r? I need to know how to address things properly!) and LJ's promise of writing something in her LJ every day.. well, I don't have babies to talk about, so I'm likely to be even more boring. Although -

I've been thinking about making a record of a lot of my memories from childhood and adolescence - little short stories of things that actually happened. If you'd be interested in being in a filtered list for such things, let me know. more of you means I'll actually be more likely to write it up!

in poop news, no decemberists 930 show for me, or for anyone, apparently.
in other poop news, a drummer quit again.

but beyond that, things are good. Trailer Park musical has ended, happily well sold, but we do the one-act twice more this coming weekend. and I have to burn some tracks for Ash Girl - damn this theater thing and its demands. Which means of course I am thinking "oh, I should write a play, right?"

Ah well. it's now night time, which means it's bed time.

good luck, all!

quiet qurlitude

I need the tv networks to realize when I am home, and program good stuff accordingly. That, or I need to take more advantage of my DVD & video collection.

The last couple days of work have been fairly empty of peoples - but that means I've gotten a lot of work done on organization and preparation for the holiday season... as much as we hope it happens in this industry. My thanks to my peoples out there who send me peoples, you probably know who you are.

Planning planning all the time - trying to get things squared away and on track, so the matrimony machine runs smooth. Also accumulating musicians for the recording project coming up, which will take up all the spare time that Trailer Park has been taking up this month. I'm much more excited for this one, though, been practicing my tricks and planning out certain treatments. Might use the last couple weeks of having jurisdiction on the old apartment to do some tracks there.

there's the summary. I only have a list of 12 gajillion things I should be working on. See you all when I come up for air.

Autumnal priorities: Stay Warm!

just a quick check-in: no, I'm not dead. It's been a good but fairly hectic couple of weeks, just because everyone has had the same 14 questions, and the sets of parents have been voracious in their requests for more information. We also have had lots of planning discussions we'd been sitting on and not talking about for the last 6 months. All is happy here, is what I'm trying to say.

In other news, I've been recruited to play guitar in a show, and it goes up, er, tonight! For the next four weekends, you'll find me at spotlighters theater in baltimore friday and saturday nights, where I'll be 1/3 of the orchestra pit for The Great American Trailer Park Musical. I came into it warily, but it's been cracking me up more each rehearsal, so come see it like 4 times or something. It's on St. Paul St., same block as Red Emma's. I have no idea what it costs. I'm actually fairly proud of how able I was to step into this show, as it has no guitar score, and a lot of guitar parts.

aside from that, er, more busy stuff. like having to go to work now. be good!

Class 4 System off the course

That was a really good weekend.

Granted, there was a good bit of work, but all turned out well. Decent turnout Saturday for the show, good performances from the band, good alcohol from the bar... The night was way too late, but a good one.

Then, a great day at faire, where I ran into quite a few folks I know, of course, and we had a wonderful time. More details if you see me in person.
