do i get a vehicle with that? cell phone rings, not a known number...
automated "this is the final notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire, do not make the mistake of driving without a factory warranty, press 1 to talk to a representative, press 2 to have us call back later"
1
hello this is xxxxxx *starts sales blurb*
just a second sir?
yes?
do i get a vehicle with this warranty?
what?
do i get a vehicle with this extended warranty?
NO of course not, this is a warranty for your car whose factory warranty is just expiring
umm well that's weird, cuz i don't have a car, never had a new car with factory warranty that's why i'm asking if i get a car with this warranty, kinda useless otherwise yes?
ummmm
why don't you be a good person and remove me from the list huh?
ummmmmm
or we could do it the way where i scream wildly for supervisor and mess up your quality monitoring, specially seeing how this is a cellular number..let's all have a nice day yes?
ummmm yeh...clickety clackity of keyboard
thank you

so with all the geeks i know, this should be easy i need a map application for linux, non precompiled binary most likely (ppc linux) ie running under wine isn't an option, emulating fully isn't an option due to hdd and cpu constrictions
so...something to show road maps...worst case scenario download em as pdf's but from where? (last i checked linux adobe didn't support digital 'rights')
it has to work 'offline' ie, when i'm outta touch with what ever local hotspot
so...ideas, comments, suggestions?

now normally normally i don't mind compiling from source
but when the 4-5 meg end result file requires a library that during compile bloats up to 600 megs PLUS...i get a little touchy
unfortunately for the platform in question, no precompiled binary exists, so heh i guess it's in the future anyway
sometime

so on frankensteining some boxes the wlofies bashings are returning to original purpose (notes whilst tinkering with machines/os
so some wtfs
a pIV (i think) that's soldered to the mainboard and the heatsink is permanently on...whiskey tango foxtrot! really makes it HARD to troubleshoot and potentially revive
same box, a pci card has a glob of heatglue to hold a modem in place
WTF heatglue to hold in a 'removable' card???
some people should be allowed to maintain the illusion that gnomes and elves under the lid do all the job, they should not be hired to REPAIR under the hood
time to rip the mainboard and look at the back

for spring (keyharp/nyckelharpa) well there isn't really an english word for the instrument i mentioned outside the music store.
nyckelharpa it's somewhat like a violin and somewhat like a hurdy gurdy but not either LOL
it's also in a large amount of the ballads i listen to, the violin sounding but not quite ...that'd be a nyckelharpa *G*

hmmmmmm interesting about visa waiver program
so since they aren't admitted, they aren't 'in' the us, so even if they are 'physically' in the us they don't get any rights what so ever...hmmm where HAVE i seen that technique/argumentation before...oooh right..how's gitmo doing?
it's amazing how many classes of people actually find themselves without any rights what so ever
kinda makes me wanna go 'who's next!' heh
beacon of justice, freedom and democracy, i think scrooge said it best regarding christmas

well and truly bricked so i was given a probably bricked linksys befw11s4 hw:v2 wireless router
tried all the ip's i could think of, ran it through the normal 'reset'
then downloaded the CMOS chip info and checked how to do a 'hard reset' on it, jumpered those pins
oooh it resets all right, just doesn't go into 'read' mode on any ip that can be found and since it doesn't i can't reflash it (ok so before some of the geekier crowd pipes in...yes i COULD theoretically find a schematic and build a flasher, and hardware flash it...hassle/reward factor implodes though
still it was fun to try

i miss having a printer correct that, i miss having a printer, that WORKS and that doesn't 'automagically' run out of black ink that's neccessary to print out job applications AND resumes for job hunt
so today's 'walk to office depot to fax off application and coverletter' just magically turned into
walk to office depot (more than an hour round trip) get ink
install ink
print coverletter and other supporting documents
return to office depot
fax papers
return home
nothing like a 'little exercise' when you are pushed for time
