Gone

Ever After
I've gone through clipping my friends list again, and on Myspace as well. I'm no longer interested in networking with many artists, and have maintained only those who I have established a friendship of some kind with, or I just really like their work. I also removed my art website. I have neither the talent nor the inclination to pimp out my work the way I'd like to.

Trimmed

Today I cleaned up my friends list a bit. The un-updated, the aggravating, and the ones I feel I cannot devote the appropriate interest and energy too. I make no apologies.

I would like to take time out of pre mom visit preparation and His Dark Materials reading, to plug a very talented friend of mine, and her brand new Etsy shop.

Zohra Helenia is a wonderful artist, with a unique (to me) vision. Her work is well done and improving all the time. Not only that, she is an amazing singer, painter, friend, and like a very dear sister to me. I invite you all (and insist) to go look at her shop. And bookmark it, because she makes these super cute whistles out of clay (they look like fish?) that she will be offering soon!

I drew her almost immediately after completing my sad little fae. But I waited a few days to work on her. The scan almost has it in the right colours too. Except her hair and fins are a bit darker. I'd take a photo, but I screwed up the USB cord over the weekend :/

Mine!

Because [info]fragirl said so..

The scan sucked the fun out of the colours. So I offer a photograph below the cut.

The photo picks up a bit more vibrancy )

I blame Mitch Hedberg for this painting. I've had his bit about the flower and the 'he loves you not' in my head for weeks. "That hurts as well! Leave me alone, I'm no longer pretty. And he loves you not."

I wanted to post these once I had a photo of them hanging. But I don't feel right driving a lot of holes into the walls of my apartment until I get it "just right". But this is one of my latest pieces. I don't craft or paint much obviously, anymore.

Ever After
You would think that after moving away, getting married, learning a new city and adopting a kitten, I would have more wry observations and oddball stories for you. Instead, I grow quieter and quieter every week. And truly, I have nothing worth relating, and my memory tends to run well enough where I don't have to record it for my own future purposes. I've never liked reading through my past anyway, as I tend to loathe the past me in any form she has taken.

I do have newer Beckett photos posted up, but I won't put them here. Just check out my long neglected Flickr account. He's growing so so so fast! Ten weeks now, he's still fairly stinky. And I asked the girls at the cat hospital today when I bought him some food. Since he was so young, it probably had an impact on some of his instinctual behaviour, and I could probably wash him with a damp cloth until he gradually figures it out. He does clean a lot more than he did a couple of weeks ago. So maybe there's hope for the little monster after all. We've given him a stuffed monkey called Cheeks, to wrestle and bite. And while he does seem to be interested in the monkey, he still isn't over biting and attacking us. I'm still not sure if he's become better, or I'm just used to it now. Probably a bit of both.

Still waiting on my police clearance from the FBI. It's the only missing piece, so I'm getting kind of annoyed. And I applied for an extension on my visit a couple of weeks ago. So sometime next month I'll hear about that. I've been in the Canada Bound community asking what to do in the event I do have to leave anyway. So I'm not quite so worried about it now. If you've sent a Christmas card, we greatly appreciate it :) They've certainly made the trips to the mailbox less disappointing than they have been due to the lack of police clearances. Again, sorry I didn't thank you sooner. The Christmas spirit is greatly escaping me right now. I've mostly tried to numb myself to the excitement and I feel like I'm going through the motions. When I think about not being in Michigan with my family, then I get a real lurch in my stomach and a slight ache in my chest. I almost wanted to just go home at the end of my visa for a little bit yesterday. But I know as soon as I go home they'll drive me freakin' nuts. And I can't leave while Beckett has boosters and a surgery on the horizon. It wouldn't be fair to him, or to Leigh to pick up that slack. Anyhow, I'm trying to hype myself up for Christmas, for Leigh's sake and try not to be such a gloom cloud for his family. It's a new experience, and yeah it sucks I can't be with what and who I'm familiar with. But I had to grow up sometime, new phase in my life, new family. I suppose I just have to be paitent.

This morning I went into the doctor to get perscriptions for my medications. I learned that there is a shortage of my birth control (Alesse) here in Canada. So in addition to recently switching from Lexapro to Cipralex, I get to go from Alesse to Min..oval..or something. I shouldn't have any sort of trouble, I've never had side effects from the Alesse, and I had no trouble switching to Cipralex. I don't think I've ever had bad side effects from medications, I used to be on Triphasil and that never bothered either. Sort of annoying, but..eh whatever. The doctor was really nice, and I was really thrown by the fact this guy couldn't had been more than ten years older than me.

Other than that, I've been absorbed into EverQuest 2 (thanks honey.. Permafrost server if anyone here plays ^~) and a fascinating book called King, Kaiser, Tsar: Three Royal Cousins Who Led the World to War. I bought it on a whim in October (in shrink wrap and everything) and have been devouring it for days. Tomorrow is the work Christmas party and hopefully this weekend we'll get our tree up. Something I'm not looking forward to because of Mr. Beckett. Anyhow, not sure when I'll check in again, so enjoy the season.

Artwanted 2007 Calendars

I am very pleased to find out that I have been accepted into 3 of the 5 calendars for 2007 offered by Artwanted.com! I was happy to be in the 2006 calendar as well, but 3 different ones! I am so excited! And this time they even show me which I submitted and what days I get..

I am in the Animals/Wildlife calendar with my photograph of Maxine, my old cat. My date for the calendar is 10/17 (Hey [info]malanai! Your birthday!).

And I am in the Landscape/Outdoors with my photograph Into the West, a golden sunset on Lake Michigan (one of my older photos, its not digital, it's an actual picture). My date for that is 7/22.

And last..and not least. I think it's a Penny day really, since she owns the original. I am in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy Calendar with Enchanted Afternoon. The date on that one being 5/1.

I'm fairly certain that I submitted a floral photo into the photography calendar. But I really can't remember. And with 3 out of 5 accepted, I really can't complain!! So excited!

They are available for pre-order here and will ship in November. Gee, I wonder which one I should order pre-ordered the Fantasy/Sci Fi :)

I finished this beauty the other night. It's a bit different for me, as winged things tend to not be in the usual scheme of things. She's up on eBay on a 7 day listing, ending on October 6th (my 3rd year dating anniversary! ^~). Thank you to [info]siln for the off hand remark that determined my direction and to the ever fabulous [info]baronessmartha for the title.

Night Flight (acrylic and ink on 140lb hotpress).

And don't forget my cuties from this post! My poor ghost is so lonely, languishing with no bids! ;)

Guess who again? I'm back with my very mini Halloween paintings.

These cute lil guys are available as a set, for $10 plus S&H (remember I'm in Canada now, but flat first rate isn't too bad). E-mail me if you're interested :) If no one is, I'll likely plod over to eBay. They make me smile every time I look at them, how could you NOT love them? ;)

Whoo Needs a Hug? and Patch Pumpkin

Batty batty batty batty batty.. )

The colours are slightly off in both, the scanner drained a bit of the darker shadow on the ghost piece, and made the background pumpkins a tad too dark on the other. So think a bit more vibrant :) The ghost measures two and a quarter of an inch by three and three quarters of an inch. The pumpkin is two and a quarter of an inch by just under three inches. Both acrylic paint and ink on cold press watercolour paper.

New Trinket Box

Ever After
You just can't shut me up lately! It was a busy afternoon for me, so I didn't get to painting my little pumpkin guy. I had planned to unveil this trinket box when I finished my current Halloween guys so I could list them all at once. But Leigh has asked (very nicely) that I don't sell this one. So I am not. We are using this to keep our rings in, as opposed to us slinging them all over his desk. I had a lot of fun working on this, despite feeling real lost without my huge box of paints and my gold leafing pen.

A few weeks ago, [info]siln and I bought a printer/scanner/copier. It's a glorious gadget, I've discovered, after waiting a week and a half to set it up and install it (I was sick, what can I say?). The scanner is fabulous so far, and the printer isn't nearly so much hassle as my old one. I even tested it out on watercolor paper and 're-painted' an old piece from last year.

Two glorious hours listening to internet radio and stretching my painting fingers.

I sold this small peice to [info]ekishou last fall.

The print off was much larger than the original. But I was very satisfied. I've resized this down a bit, it's actually about two inches by nine or ten.

Also, [info]carolochs has set up a wonderful fantasy art link exchange in the last couple of weeks. here is my page. Check out the links here, it's quite the undertaking :)

Darling [info]kisstheviolets purchased a Flickr Pro account for me as a wedding gift last week. Which was the sweetest thing ever for her to do. So I've been busily and happily uploading some of my favorite photographs from my archives. Many of them you may remember, but for those new to my list, you may not. Or I may have just not bothered to post or link them here. Anyhow, tons of pictures here.

I'm feeling much better today, after making contact with a woman in charge of volunteers at Symphony Nova Scotia. We'll see how that pans out, but regardless we had a lovely chat. I'm starting to sound like my grandmother! Oh noes!

I promise a real post at some point soon. But the proofs from the photographer came last night, so now I feel like (and now how) to post some wedding pictures. The quality of these are poor, its from his photobank on Yahoo! and not the site where you order, understandably. So don't take these for the quality of our pictures ^^; Anyway here are a few of my (and our) faves.

For those curious, our photographer was Ully Bleil.

My mother, myself, Leigh, his brother, and their uncle the judge.

And those are all I really have at this point.
