You know how people joke that in fandom, every possible sort of pairing that can be imagined has been, and probably porn was produced? Yeah, I'm beginning to think it's true. Why? Because I was cruising ff.net and found a very cliched looking Naruto yaoi fic with the usual buttons - yaoi, mpreg, angst. But what made me do a whiplashi inducing double-take was the pairing code at the end. It said Naruto x Hiashi. NARUTO x HIASHI.
......WTF!??!?!?!??!?!??!?!?!??!?!?!?!?! ?!?!??!?! Edit1: Holy shit it was not a typo after all. mood: shocked |

So there's a Filipino superhero team in Ironman comics! Wow! People acknowledge our existence beyond absolute necessity! Of course it's an absolutely stupid team. Based out of UP, apparently. Come on! There's loads of interesting stuff that could serve as backstory! An arnis master! The real reason all that money disappears from Army coffers is to fund a super-secret weapons program! Descendants of those really bad-ass mofos who fought guerilla warfare against the Japanese in WW2, or the Americans in the Filipino-American war, wherein the Canos were so impressed by the difficulty of killing Filipinos they invented a whole new gun and caliber of bullet for the job. (see Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon for tips on how to do the country right, Ironman comic makers) mood: tired |

So. I thought I was spending Christmas in Vancouver, but one last-minute attempt to get me home is being undertaken. In this vein, I will shortly depart for Seattle, where I will try to get my TR visa renewed so I can leave and enter Canada freely. Do you see the problem here? If I don't get the visa, I WILL BE STUCK IN SEATTLE. Right. So, how was everyones' finals? Mine were over yesterday.... Phew. mood: exhausted music: Fix You - Coldplay |

| You Are: 10% Dog, 90% Cat | You are are almost exactly like a cat. You're intelligent, independent, and set on getting your way. And there's no way you're going to fetch a paper for anyone! |
I'm not surprised. My parents compare to a cat a lot - not the sleek, swift hunter-type cat, you understand. The fat, unmoving, furry blob who always walks off when you're looking for them type. Seriously, they used my cousin's cat Licorice as my feline equivalent, and Licorice is a nasty, fat, black-furred menace. Who does NOT exercise. In other words, they're quite right.

When people say Friday the XIII is bad luck, they weren't joking.Last Friday, though, when I wanted to buy a Coke to buzz myself awake for class, and I had no cash on me; the guy looked at me conspiratorially and said, "Go on, it's on the house." That seriously made my day. Thank you. ;_; mood: sleepy music: Zankoku no Tenshi |

Things learned today. 1) Mashed potatoes with chicken-broth flavoring is awesome food for an upset stomach. 2) Hitsugaya is the 2nd highest ranked character in Bleach! Right after Ichigo! All is right with the world. 3) When studying, don't play music on the Windows Media Player and leave the screen up in front of you. The visual effects are strangely hypnotic. *stares into screen, drools slightly* Uh, right, where was I? 4) Sometimes my brother slips into a Canadian accent. This is the first time I've heard him do so. I wonder if my accent is changing? 5) THE NEW NARUTO OPENING IS AWESOME OMG. SUITS. NARUTO WHUPPING ASS. SONG. AWESOME OMG. mood: sleepy music: Lead Us - Thirteen Senses |

Spoilers for ep 2-15. Zuko is adorable. He is! He is! With hair-ruffles and everything! And Mai (who I also love) should show up and have a grand ol' "HE'S MINE!" fight for Zuko. I used to hate him but he became soo cute and sweet. God I sound like an airhead. Aang is also not naturally bald. Huh. Who woulda thunk it?

You sarcastic? Never! You're as sweet as a baby bunny. Seriously, though, you have a sharp tongue - and you aren't afraid to use it. And if people are too wimpy to deal with your attitutde, then too bad. So sad. |
How Sarcastic Are You?I'm actually kind of surprised by this. And no, that was not being sarcastic. I don't think I'm that shap-tongued...am I? | I Hadn't Expected This, Quite |

It's a little funny - a little humbling - that after all my whinging and whining about my parents, it hasn't been that horrible, having them around. So I arrived in Canada two, three weeks ahead of the rest of my family, and spent most of that time arranging my application for renewal of study permit, trying to get my apartment set up and my bank account settled, finalizing classes, and so on. I found out such wonderful things as my bike had been stolen, that classes I'd wanted would NOT be open for registration, that my brother had destroyed the toaster in the apartment so the landlord took that out of our damage deposit. Also, dreading the day September 2 when my family would arrive. I'd get a cold clenching feeling in my stomach, whenever I thought of the fights and lectures sure to erupt.
And then...when the day came...not so much. I've...I've actually been enjoying my time with my parents (and of course my little sibs, demanding and whiny though they be) After a week of instant ramen, now I'm eating out with them at sit-down places with real tablecloths, even. *gasp* I told them about my stolen bike and they didn't erupt. They were...understanding.
???
Tonight's the last night they're here; tomorrow they leave for Las Vegas. Then to San Francisco, then back to Manila. So we had dinner out along with Andy and Pia, two family friends, and it was delicious. We were about to ride home with Andy when my parents said it'd be better if I rode with them. "Why?" I asked. "You guys are downtown, and anyway our apartment is on the way for Andy."
"Look in the back of the van," my parents said cryptically.
I looked, and shrieked.
My parents had bought me a new bike. I was so excited I cut my hand on the chain as I spun around to thank them.
WHY are they being so nice?
Ooof, I'm full. Shepherd's pie, yum. I've got to wake up early for one last farewell breakfast with the family, so g'night all.

Last night...er, earlier today? I was in a bad state. I was hyperventilating. I was contemplating with horror the prospect of being banished from Canada and UBC forever. Which is still, admittedly, a possibility, if my visa presents a problem.
But I feel much better now that my flight's about to leave. It may be just the lack of sleep - I haven't slept in about thirty, thirty-two hours so I will be knocked out for the flight. Everytime I lean my head back I drift off so I've been chugging cola like no one's business. It may be the lounge - the one at NAIA Airport is really quite nice, it's got the nicest arroz caldo with an unlimited amount of calamansi (very important) and stuff. And wireless net, let's not forget the wireless net which is allowing me to do this. Oh! And I managed to get an upgrade in class. YESSSS. Now I don't need to take that sleeping pill.
Oh, dang. Bad timing; flight's boarding in fifteen minutes. Well, I'm off to the wild blue yonder. See ya guys (hopefully) in BC! mood: exhausted music: I Must Be Dreaming - Frou Frou |

I don't know when I'll be back again. But if my prayers come true it won't be anytime before Christmas break. Oh GOD I want to get out of this country. Well, it's not this country (I mean, Manila is still more fun than Vancouver, although less...convenient. Also less terrorist-free and pickpocket-free and smog-free and all that) so much as it's...you know. Parents. *twitches nervously* I need to get the hell away from them now. I swear to God, I will do everything right; I'll look for a job, I'll study, I won't eat out, I'll be frugal, I'll GO TO MASS. Just let me get away, please oh god please. Tomorrow's my flight. Mom and dad can't come with me to the airport cos of work (thank GOD!) My brother Gaston might accompany me. Too bad the baby sibs can't but they've got quarter-exams. I can't wait! I'm giddy for the chance to spend like 18 hours in the economy class of one of the more uncomfortable airlines out there, seated next to some stranger! And I can only pray that Canadian Immigrations won't send me back because my visa is like a week from expiring and if I'm sent back I'll never get out of this country and I'll need to kill myself.
Oh please, Naruto fillers be at an end! mood: nauseated music: Champagne Supernova |

| Bree and Stuff |

|
12:46am 15/08/2006 |

Last night I was roped into doing my little siblings' homework for them. Sonsoles's was actually the more troublesome, but Raphael was more annoying. All I had to do was print out some pictures for his Art project, (since my mum's printer was busted) but the little brat didn't even have the decency to email me the pictures he wanted. Instead, as he stared longingly at the PS2, I had to bully out of him what he needed, then Google it on my laptop and print it. For Soles, I and Gaston had to draw her scenes from "the Horse and His Boy". Gaston drew her Prince Rabadash, who he insisted on calling Rapidash and labeling it such, prompting outraged and unhappy wails from our little sister. I drew Bree for her. Just Bree, no saddles or tack or Shasta beside, because I was ALSO busy inventorying the stuff I need to bring back to Canada. Then, later, I was bored so I Photoshopped the original thing a little, added a little foreground and some fancy-shmancy Japanese font that makes no sense at all. ( bigger version here) Right. Anyone going to be in Katipunan or Makati tomorrow, for like lunch or merienda? It's my last day in Manila so I think I can get a ride out. ^ mood: accomplished music: Scarborough Faire - Simon&Garfunckel |
